Ooof. I wasn't expecting a ton, honestly, but this was perhaps the worst coffee I've gotten anywhere that wasn't a gas station and I paid seven dollars for a plain, standard latte. The space is right next to the Mothman statue (and historical markers in the same location) so they have some Mothman decorations and, apparently, at times that are not 10am on a weekday, Mothman cookies are advertised on the door. There were four people visibly working in the place despite it being bereft of customers; not a single one felt compelled to speak with me and one begrudgingly accepted my order. Maybe the draw is the Mothman cookies? Maybe you get better service if you're a local? Whatever you do, note that there are trash cans near the historical markers in case you discover, as I did, that you've made quite the error. read more

We decided to stop in a cute little coffee shop on our way to Ohio. We're so glad we did! This little downtown coffee shop was super cute on the inside and was decorated for halloween! They had so many seasonal drink options and I got the Pumpkin Caramel Chai Latte and my girlfriend got the Maple Cinnamon Latte. They were both delicious! What I really like the most was the fact that the Chai wasn't a concentrate. It was made with actual Chai tea bags! This made the drink taste AMAZING!! The staff were extremely nice and loved meeting our dog, Junie! Barb, the owner (i think), mentioned she had a boy dachshund and we loved chatting with her! If you have a chance to stop by on your way through town, I highly recommend doing so! You won't regret it!! read more

I've been to 46 states now and having tried a number of coffee shops along the way,this must have been the most disapponting coffee stop out of all. If you're an espresso afficionado like me,you'd expect to order a cappucino and have an espresso shot be part of the drink,yet they either used a regular drip coffee topped with a foam of milk or really outdated beans. I ended up throwing the coffee into trash. Disappointing..! read more

When on the road. I try to visit local coffee shops. While I enjoy a cup of Corporate Coffee, it's just really nice to support a local business. ...one cup at a time! There was a little fire in the air at 58°, so I got a mocha. It was absolutely fantastic. I did pass on the whip cream so that I can enjoy the flavor of the coffee and chocolate. The people in this little town are absolutely amazing. There were some Mothman fans. A couple of attorneys and their clients, a husband and wife, enjoying lunch together, and a few people who happen to like good coffee. In addition to coffee, they have an absolutely amazing peanut butter cookie, good food, and a really unique confectionery treat called a Buckeye. I grew up in West Virginia, so I was familiar with this, however, for the people not living near the Buckeyes State of Ohio, this is basically peanut butter and confectioners sugar, rolled into a ball and 3/4 of the way in chocolate. The buckeyes here are huge! It's a quiet little shop tucked under a street corner in a quiet little town with some absolutely amazing, polite, wonderful people. read more

My daughter and I popped in here after visiting the Mothman Museum. First impression was "wow!" The Coffee Grinder is super cute and cozy. They had the most adorable Fall and Halloween decorations up... plus a bookshelf, how cool is that?! It was the kind of coffee shop I always wanted to visit. I was hungry so I got a Cuban Wrap, a pumpkin spice latte, and a Mothman Cookie. I've been wanting to try to the Mothman Cookie since watching the Buzzfeed Unsolved episode on Point Pleasant and the Mothman! I don't know what exactly I was expecting, but I guess I thought the wrap would be warm, but it was served cold. It didn't taste bad... but it was cold. The PSL didn't taste anything like pumpkin... it just tasted like regular coffee with cream and sugar. Again it didn't bad, but I didn't taste any pumpkin or Fall flavors. The Mothman cookie was a bit tragic, I couldn't tell if there were going for a sugar cookie or shortbread, but it was lacking in flavor, I could just taste the sugar in the frosting and I was turned-off that the eyes were actually chocolate, I expected them to be a hard candy. It basically just tasted like plain dough and sugary frosting. I got the small one for my toddler and she took a bite and didn't want anymore... and I've never seen her turn away a cookie before. The service was good and it's absolutely adorable inside, definitely worth a visit, but nothing to write home about. read more

This lovely lazy little WV river town is known for the urban legend Mothman. Next to the world's only Mothman museum is a lovely little coffee shop, ever so fitting. A wonderful array of sandwiches for lunch, good coffee, a pleasant staff. Their Mothman cookie is not just a novelty. It is great. I'd like to leave a positive review as it's a cute & cozy place with friendly staff. Unfortunately, this venue has a serious need for customer relations revamping. We came in, were greeted by the barista, she took our order quickly, a club wrap & a shake. She got our milkshake out in good time. The bad: We placed our order, the girl making orders was quite slow & the place was not busy, waited 5 mins, no big deal. Then a large group walks in & places their food & drink orders. Ok, the kitchen Is going to get slammed, understandable. What is NOT understandable or acceptable is that the large groups food orders were being served to them before us!!!! We waited 40mins for our food!!! The large group was getting theirs within 15-20 mins of their arrival. All of this while the large group was happily eating. When we FINALLY get our food it was a sloppy mess of an unraveling wrap!!! This SHOULD HAVE been discounted or refunded for such terrible service.... It wasn't. This is ridiculous & I will NOT suggest this place to anyone. read more

We were traveling through and found this on our route. We wanted to love this place and have a nice break for our kids but it was quite the opposite. We have three kids 2 and under, and instead of being greeted politely the first thing we were told when we walked in the door was that they closed in 20 min. That should have been our first sign to leave. We ordered, got our drinks quickly but had to remind them to give us our water and cinnamon bread. Then I sat down to quickly nurse my twins and get a snack in my 2 year old. At 2:54 pm a man walked in and was told he could not get a cup of coffee...they still had SIX minutes of business to serve. How rude..so the man left. Then at 2:59 pm one worker left. My husband quickly changed diapers but one twin had a blowout and got all over him and the baby. As we started to change his outfit the RUDE LADY WITH BLONDE HAIR told us, "Guys I close at 3 pm, I'm about to leave." No sorry, no nothing. It was apparent the predicament we were in... so no care or compassion. We left, totally disheveled with stuff everywhere and at 3:04 pm she locked the door. I'm sorry, what did you clean in 4 min?? My family and I were in the area to see the Mothman Museum. I love supporting local coffee shops, so I decided to run in and grab an iced coffee for the ride back to Portsmouth. The staff was very friendly. They recommended the iced coffee with sweet cream. It sounded delicious, but unfortunately I'm lactose intolerant. The black iced coffee was still delicious. They made sure I took my first sip before I left to make sure I liked it. That was probably a good idea. I don't know how many times I've left other places before finding out my order wasn't satisfactory. I did take a couple of pics before I left. Nobody seemed to mind. I love this place. I've come here a few times on my way home from work and it's a small town where everyone knows everyone, but not in an intimidating way. I love the people who work there, and the people who come in. For my drink I just had an iced coffee with sweet cream which was PERFECT. I'm obsessed with the sweet cream!!! For my food, I got a grilled cheese, and everything tastes better when it's not made by me and it was exactly what I wanted! Pro tip: get a mothman cookie while you're there. The mothman cookies were the best part, and even then they were bland. My frappe tasted just like a milkshake with ice, there wasn't much coffee. The macchiato was closer to plain black coffee with a hint of spice to it. The cake pop was also dry. Tried this place with my wife this morning and was left with a bad taste in my mouth. The atmosphere left me very wanting. It was cozy enough but very forgettable. My wife ordered a waffle and it was okay but not impressive. Honestly it was continental breakfast quality. I got a breakfast wrap and it was definitely not restaurant quality. The grounds tasted burnt. Nothing on its own was exceptionally bad but nothing was good either. The staff on the other hand were incredible. They made sure we were very well taken care of. I really wanted to love this place and the staff was great. I have read a lot of positive reviews for this place so I will probably give it another shot. read more

Going with the "Mothmania" of Point Pleasant, WV, this cute little place has adorable cookies of Mothman, as well as a delicious coffee flavor entitled the Mothman Brew. It was so good I bought a whole bag of the vanilla variety! It was amazing. The atmosphere is comfy and adorable, and it's always important to support local businesses. It's a cute little coffee shop, if you are here because of Mothman than It'll be perfect for you, they have Mothman cookies and all. But if you expect good coffee, don't. My cappuccino tasted like dusty milk that was watered down. I honestly can't tell that there's supposed to be coffee in this drink. Many food businesses come and go in this sometimes gritty town, but so far Coffee Grinder is hanging in there. If you like your coffee strong (typical Starbucks strength, for example), you may feel this coffee is not strong enough.
