Coming from California, everyone told me..."You gotta try Whataburger" Well, I did and I don't understand what people see about this place. I was even told that it is better than In & Out, which is a HUGE statement to make. And in my opinion, this place is barely above your normal McDonalds or Burger King. I would actually say they are about the same. Having said that, my family and I tried Whataburger on our recent trip to Texas. We went through the drive thru of the location off HWY 69 on Little York Rd. The drive through is interesting and I noticed this to be to the process in multiple locations....they have 2 lanes that they stack their cars in. This allows them to take more orders and they kind of stage everyone in the 2 lanes. If you are in the lane closest to the building, they are able to hand you your food. But they also have workers that run food to each car as they are ready. It did appear to keep things moving, but not always. In my case, I got all of my food before the car in front of me. So I had to wait for him to get his food before I could leave. The staff. Of all the places we visited in Texas in our 2 week there, I raved about how nice the people are. That was not the case here at Whataburger. The young lady that took my order outside in the drive-through did not look happy to be there. She never smiled and every time I asked for an item, she replied with " Is that it?", which coming from a Customer Service background is just so rude and uninviting. When we pulled up to get our food, the guy that was running the food orders to all the cars was equally as unpleasant. Just not happy to be at work. Ok, the food. All of our burgers and chicken wings were hot and tasted fine. Nothing special. Just your typical fast foodstuff. The most noticeable thing was our fries. They did not taste good at all. Very soggy and not crispy as I would have expected. And the special ketchup...I forgot what it was called, but it was supposed to be a little spicy...was NOT good at all. I want to end on a positive....the shakes here were very good. The seasonal Carmel Latte shake was my favorite. But not good enough for me to every need to try Whataburger again. read more

First stop in Houston had to stop by Whataburger to see what all the hype is about. Parking lot was a bit more emptier and they had just a couple customers in the dining area. Located close to a couple more food franchises on Little York Road. As far the service it was pretty quick, but staff are friendly, but nobody seems to be a fan of their job. They're just kind of Monotone and very stone faced. As far as environment, it was very mixed. Had a couple Homeless people around , but inside they had a couple of customers and ambiance was pretty quiet. Now as far as food i wasn't as impressed, but food came out hot. Burgers tasted great, But wasn't something different to what I have had around town and back home in Orlando. As far as the quality and service that's what gives it the lower rating. I have heard there are multiple locations that are hit or miss, but this may have been one of those miss locations. read more

Before I even ate the food, I wrote this review. First impressions are everything and this visit made me realize that some things just don't ever change--especially at this location of Whataburger. If you ever have to stop here, do yourself a favor and go in and order so you won't feel pressured to not look in your bag and order throughly compared to the drive through. That is what happenned to me. I weighed the contents of the bag just knowing my apple pie was included in the bag, but when I decided to stop just outside the parking lot to check--no apple pie. No freakin way! And this was the day I decided to not wear a bra under my clothes...ugh! I was NOT about to go back in drive through for it, so I just pulled my sweater in real tight and ran in with the receipt (that I had to ask for) and requested a crew member give me my missing product from my order. She happily obliged. While she was at it, I asked for some more spicy ketchup since the lazy drive thru crew member only gave me 1 of 2 cups of it and stuffed it in my bag AFTER I specifically asked for spicy ketchup. He probably knew it was a waste because when I got home, I got the most horrific order of fries. You can see the pics yourself. The fries are clearly old and dry. Nothing in the world should EVER be described as old and dry. I mean NOTHING! Fries were so dry, it looked like someone's crusty toe nail curled up and is trying to run away from the potato! Didn't follow my own rule 1 of fast food--order no salt on your fries to get fresh fries, but STILL anyone with a brain and heart would not serve those fries to someone--unless they have no heart or brain...or frankly do not care, so I care NOT to be a consumer at this particular Whataburger ever again. Add on top of injury that the meat patty had no flavor whatsoever makes this future review into a complaint to corporate very soon. Rule 2 of fast food--if you can't make fries, th rest of the food won't be a blast. This place--pass! read more

You know those commercials that advertise Whataburger? Nice yummy patties on the grill. Grilled onions. Sealed with a sticker on your burger wrapper. Yumm!! It just gets your mouth watery. Late evening drive to deliver a pot roast to a friend who just had surgery. Traffic was horrible. Have to get these kiddos a quick bite since dinner at home won't be an option. Chose to go in for a burger so we wouldn't take as long as normal at a regular restaurant. The young boy who took our order was kind enough. He is the one star! He helped us with our super particular order: two kids meals and two adult meals. The lady who brought us our food had a mean face and didn't say anything when giving us our food. She held the tray out and when I asked for spicy ketchup she took a breath and asked how many I wanted. I then realized we were missing the two chicken strips I ordered. She pointed to a box and got upset when I advised her that it was it was not it. She took my receipt without a word and got the ketchup and chicken strips and put them on the table without a word. Food was decent enough for fast food. BUT the gravy was water!!! So gross! Never had that experience before. What made it even worse? The manager was talking to he employees about her business in the restroom! We don't want to hear you have to take a crap and then you walk back in the kitchen - it's private for a reason. Every single time I order from this location my order is always wrong and the service is always terrible. In addition to the terrible service, this time I was instructed to move to the outside lane before ordering, a worker verbally took my order and card to then go all the way back inside instead of using the tablet. Everything ended up being wrong when I look at the ticket, and to top it off they brought out the food in the wrong order leaving me trapped behind 3 cars. Isn't it funny how Mel Tillis could sing that song with ease but the poor guy couldn't put 5 words together. I keep giving this place chance after chance. This was once one of the best Whataburger on the north side. The quality of the food is horrible, this is one of numerous times my family and I had to come home and warm our patties. It's ridiculous. The onion rings were cold.They mess up my order so much until I've gotten use to it. This is the last straw, I will bypass their establishment and go to the next. I don't want to be contacted , it's nothing they can say. They need to do better , it was more than 8 people in the back, nearly running over each other and they still couldn't get it right. Well...I don't get it. In the burger chain war, In-n-Out is first, and Whataburger is probably behind McDonald's. I went here after a flight and was quite hungry, so I was eagarly anticipating trying a chain so many love. Ordering was simple, I just got a burger with ketchup. The lady working the counter was super pleasant. The first thing I noticed was that a lot of the sodas were out of order at the soda fountain. There were pieces of paper that said "out of order." I wanted water and that said out of order but water came out anyway. I didn't drink any because I found some pink stuff on the rim of my cup. Weird. The burger tasted like nothing. I don't get it. Nothing. It was a perfectly mediocre burger. At least McDonald's burgers taste like something. This one was just sad and disappointing. The fries were fine but certainly nothing to write home about. I ordered a What A Catch Burger only and a justaburger only. The cashier asked me to pull up so I did to wait on my food then a second person came outside and asked me to pull across and park which I did I waited 15 minutes for someone to come outside to deliver my food and no one came. I had to go inside to inquire about my food and they said they didn't see me when I saw no one come outside with a bag of food only to the drive-thru that they were delivering to so they informed me that they had to remake it over.
