This has to be one of the worst Whataburgers out there. If Galveston's east end didn't have such limited restaurant options, I'd never step foot in here at all. Even for the classic afterparty get-together, sitting down for a meal with your buddies is bearable at best. The floors never look clean, there's a good chance the tables feel sticky, and the place just feels unpleasant overall. I don't ask for much out of fast food establishments like Whataburger. If it's past midnight, I'm genuinely expecting the drive-thru employee to be high as a kite and slurring his words through the speaker. Even when I opt for customizations through the app and they completely ignore them, I'm disappointed but definitely not surprised. What makes this location so horrendous is the absurd wait times. It has no sense of management and its workflow runs rougher than a unicycle with triangular wheels. Ordering on the app is useless after dining in closes; the drive thru only contains 1 lane so there's no way to bypass customers that are currently ordering. It can take up to 35-40 minutes to get your food from speaker to window. Even when the inside is open, I still often find myself waiting until I actually arrive for them to start preparing my order. Curbside? Hilarious. I don't think the employees even know that they have two reserved spots out front. As a lifelong Texan, I recognize the impact Whataburger has on the culture. I still appreciate the opportunity to enjoy a ridiculously unhealthy burger at 1AM when nothing else is open. That doesn't stray away from the fact that this is supposed to be a "fast" food joint. Ironically, having a crappy Whataburger here might motivate people to eat healthier. Other than McDonalds, fast food isn't the cheap commodity it used to be. Service was pretty much non existent. Highly recommend you don't use the mobile app. The restaurant was clean but loud during that weekend night. Saturday 6pm March 15 th Waiting to order and being subjected to an unwanted view of the fries cooks dirty undies. Every time he bent over to get items from the lower storage his pants would fall to his skinny little thighs and produce a full view of his crusty underwear disgusting. We ordered and sat down amazing they brought our food to the table with 4 packets of ketchup not nearly enough for two Large fries cooked by Captain underwear himself. The burgers were ok at best not hot but just above room temperature, cheese was still cold and the minus onions had 3 to 4 onion chips, no tomatoes burger had 3 slices on it. It's National Hamburger Day and it doesn't get more Texan than going to Whataburger! I ordered a Whataburger Jr, small fries, Diet Coke and a small chocolate milkshake. I recommend downloading the Whataburger app so you can scan it each visit. After 5 visits you get a reward that you can redeem for free food items. I had a reward available so I used that and my small milkshake was free! I ordered via the drive thru line and handed my credit card to the cashier at the window. She proceeded to hand me my Diet Coke, my shake and then the bag and a receipt that was a foot and a half long. I asked for my credit card back and she said that the receipt was wrapped around it. I'm looking in the food bag and I don't see it. Well, it had fallen down under my seat. I would recommend that you run the credit card first and return it immediately - before handing off drinks and food. Sorry to have held up the drive thru line but I wasn't leaving until I had my credit card back safely in my wallet. I think most people are like me and they like to pop a French fry in their mouth on the drive home. Well, the fries were cold. Yuck! I reheated my burger and the fries in the microwave when I got back but it just isn't the same as when they are hot from the grill or fryer. At least the Diet Coke and milkshake were cold and tasty! We get to window, and girl has unpleasant look on her face.she handed us the food, we checked it, and handed it back. She proceeds to tell us " that we didn't order it like that". We indeed ordered the burger how we wanted it. If you misunderstood then say that. Fries were a little limp and the fountain drinks were all mixed. Coke Zero had Root beer and Diet Coke tasted very weird. Coke was watered down and the chicken strips were interesting. While the turnover ensured that the food was relatively fresh, there was nothing unique about the taste that stayed. I ordered a cheeseburger with only ketchup and cheese then we sat down, got our food, then I look in my "cheeseburger" and find only the meat and the bun. So of course I go to the counter and are going to tell them. The person that ends up helping me is the manager, so I tell her "hey, I was supposed to get cheese on this" and the manager says, "oh, we don't make cheese here." So my mom goes up there and tells them "if I have to pay for just a slice of cheese I will" and so the guy at the counter says "yes you can. Been hearing people talk about this chain for a long time. I hear its the Shake Shack/In n Out of Texas, so all other trips to Texas I have not been able to try it. I got lucky this time. Food/ They are huge 5" burgers. They taste great but it reminds me too much of a whopper without mayo and ketchup. Fresh. Nice buns, but nothing impressive. It comes standard only with mustard. You must ask for the other stuff which leads me to..... Service/ Excellent. The girls working the counter will come out and deliver you your food and give you a tray of condiments to choose from to go with your meal. You won't have to ask but you'll only be able to choose what they have on the tray. I believe Ranch was extra. Would I come here again? Not if I didn't live here. This is the slowest Whataburger ever! I go here frequently because it's close to work and I've waited in the drive thru lame for 10 minimum before. You can't leave the line , otherwise I would. It's wrapped around the building with no way out. They need to open the first window to speed things up but it's used as storage. It's slow... every time.... The burger was cold and the onion ring were extremely greasy and cold, inedible. They cook the onion rings and let them sit there until they get an order for them. I was really upset but when I went back to get the issue resolved, the manager Gilbert was incredibly attentive and remade my order despite it being busy.
