The service was slow. We asked for hot water in a cup for my grandfather to drink tea that we had. The lady said no because it's a liability and we could get burned. We did pay for a coffee but asked to get just water and they didn't want to do that. We could also get burned with a hot coffee because it's the same water but she was insistent. Not very clean inside. Floors, tables, etc... needed a good cleaning. Service at the counter was quick even though they were busy. My food also came out surprisingly quickly. My food was tasty, and arrived hot as usual. Just a little attention to cleaning up between customers could make this Whataburger fine stars. read more

Driving from Nashville to San Antonio I stopped for gas and a quick bite to eat. Obviously being in Texas I had to hit up Whataburger!! It did not disappoint! The new burger was really really good! Just stopped by Whataburger in Columbus TX. It was okay. The restaurant was clean with an open dining area. The restrooms were clean but there were only two stalls and there wasn't any toilet paper . At least their paper towels were stocked. I ordered on the app but they were very busy and it took about 10 minutes to get my meal. I had the Whataburger which had a meat patty, mustard, tomatoes, pickles, lettuce and onions. It was okay. They put tons of lettuce and onions which I guess made it seem bigger than it actually was. I also had a small order of onion rings which were good. They had a really good outer shell that wasn't greasy. So overall I would recommend it if you are in the mood for an okay burger on the road. Be aware that drive thru lines can get really long and create a long wait time. I'd recommend using the app and ordering in advance and then picking it up. read more

The car in front of us had kept giving them back the bag which I assume is because something was wrong with the order. They have some odd method of taking a person's order then just working on that order until it's complete instead of the traditional assembly line approach. This is our closest location. Service is generally so-so and the food is consistent enough to satisfy. Today, service was the absolute worst. We waited over 30 minutes in the drive thru for 2 drinks. Absolutely an outstanding Whataburger. We visited TWICE in one week (once on the way to Galveston, and once on the way back). They were busy, but were SUPER efficient at taking orders and getting food cranked out to customers. Fries were perfect, all food excellent, nephews from Connecticut are now addicted to Whataburger. I believe John was the manager and he was hustling around the dining floor, making sure everyone was happy and taken care of as if I has the owner of a 5 star steak house. Sad to say that I order a Whataburger Jr. with cheese and it turned out to be the worst Whataburger I've ever had. The buns were squashed and cold and the meat wasn't even hot enough to melt the cheese. Now I've been eating Whataburger burgers since I was knee high and I'm almost 60yrs old and I can count on one hand how many bad Whataburgers I've eaten. Giant crowd massed in front of the door and the line didn't move much in ten minutes. Poor design and flow of the space to have enough room for one person at a time between the front door and the register but to go so slow with service you get 30 people stacked in there at a time. Feelin' like I was in a crowd at a K.I.S.S. tribute band concert where the band members spent more time working on the authentic make up than the guitar riffs and vocals because hey you are still there at a Whataburger (or K.I.S.S. tribute band concert) but it's just not the real deal you were expecting based on prior results. There is just so much room for improvement anything more than one star would be misleading about this was. The gents restroom was going for truckstop couture as it had seemingly not been cleaned since the Nixon administration. The entire place was dirty as if it was trying to distinguish itself as the complete and polar opposite of a Bucees experience. When in need of a truckstop restroom on a long haul between Houston and San Antonio a gentlesir can do better than this joint off of the highway in Columbus. read more

Should have read the reviews. Slowest whataburger I've been to. Waiting over 20 minutes for a meal, double meat burger and 3 kids meal, which would not have been an issue if the burgers were hot. The fries were warm. If family and I were in a rush to get to the river we would have turned around and dropped the food off and gotten a refund. read more
