I'm just gonna start this off and say that the service here is unbelievable, it was awful. We walked in together (my husband and I, because we go everywhere together) and wait a while to get seated. We noticed that there were two tables free for us to sit down, but no server came by. Moments way later we got a server who didn't even greet us, looked like she hated her job, took us to one of those empty tables, and threw the menus at the table while her back was facing us and didn't even ask us what we wanted to drink. Guys listen to this next part your gonna love it, we waited 30 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink, and we waited for our drinks to come. We ordered drinks with our food which should never happen because drinks usually come first then the food order. We both ordered salmon, cream cheese everything bagels with home fries. It took them over 20 minutes for them to serve that to us because we only ordered after 30 minutes of waiting. The people next to us arrived after we came and they got more complicated orders and their food came before ours. When we asked our server where our food was she said "I don't control the kitchen." She didn't even say let me find out for you. Lastly I had to walk up to the server to get us our bill because I know that would've took a long time too. I only rated two stars only because of the service. Food was good but great service makes the hole experience better in my opinion. I'll only come back if a change is done or only if a manager or owner will contact me because honestly this service was ridiculous.

It is not the Bagel that What A Bagel has that impressed me. Surprising it is the Salad.... Salad?? What's up? Have I been hanging around my Hot Yoga Date too much and turning into a Vegetarian?? Great selections at the salad bar with a salad going for $10.49. Sounded a little pricey...but when I saw my salad busting out from the container... I know I can just not finish that on my own. Great for Sharing!! The sweet and pastries selection is quite good too... love those mini danish for 3 for $1. Of course the toasted bagel with cream cheese... heavenly! No wonder there is always a long line up during lunch hours!

My in-laws live in Thornhill, so we make frequent trips to visit. On our recent visit in July, we had brunch at What A Bagel Thornhill and REALLY liked it! The weather was scorchingly hot that weekend, so the place was packed with people trying to escape the heat. Which meant those lovely servers were working extra hard to keep up. But you never would have guessed anything was up with our server -- he was cool and collected and offered superior service! We tried the Shakshuka and LOVED it so much I'm going to try to recreate it at home. We also got the Smoked Salmon and Avocado Toast and upgraded to a flat bagel, which we really enjoyed. And a Jerusalem Toast with Egg (not pictured). The entire experience was just lovely -- great food, in a fun environment, with fantastic service, and all at a fair price. What's not to love??? We'll be back!

What a bad is great! Not sure why I haven't co e here before. You get to pick your own bagel off the rack and the. Bring it to the cashier. Bagels are so warm and fresh right off the rack. You have the option of getting it toasted as well. Once the bagel had been brought, someone will cut it for you, and add the toppings of your choice.

A great place for breakfast or lunch. A Jewish take on a deli breakfast. (No bacon or ham here but with so many other good choices you don't miss it.) Super fresh salads with a long list of ingredient choices. Their sandwiches are delicious. If you're looking to indulge the Avocado Grilled Cheese is heaven. It comes with fried eggs, tomato, avo and cheese on challah bread. It literally melts in your mouth. Shakshuka is one of my staples here. Eggs poached in a tomato stew/sauce topped with goat cheese and served with pita. Their waffles are delicious, served with mounds of fresh fruit and maple syrup. Noise is a factor here it can be difficult to hear your table mates. Staff are friendly and helpful and always willing to make your visit pleasant.

Great place for a local eatery. Service is hit or miss but the food is always good. Breakfast and salads tend to be very popular. I personally enjoy the different types of Jerusalem toasts.

I recently ate my entire stash of bagels from both trips. The good news is that Kettleman's is coming to Etobicoke this fall. I still needed bagels, though. I headed to my local grocery store recently to get some. They weren't and aren't the same. On Saturday, I visited St. Urbain bakery and cafe, which makes a variety of Montreal-style bagels. I was in heaven looking at roughly a dozen different bagel flavours at the back of the store. A older woman asked what I'd like. She didn't come across as being warm. I asked for six sesame and six cheddar bagels. She said that it was $0.25 more for each cheddar bagel. I was good with that, although she didn't wait for me to acknowledge that I was good with it. I got all bagels in a paper bag. Yay! I thanked her. I was so happy. I felt like I had won the lottery, except that I had to pay for my goods. This bakery offers cakes, cookies, flatbreads, and more. I decided to simply get my bagels before I cleaned my entire chequing account out at this store. The woman at the counter was much more personable. She put my goodies in a plastic bag and threw in a couple of bagel bags. I used my debit card to pay. Credit cards aren't accepted. You can pay with cash, too. I have had both bagel varieties since my visit. They are soft and chewy where they should be. The cheddar is brilliant and yummy. I've never had a cheddar one before until now. It's worth shelling out a bit to have one. There is something about crispy, oven-melted cheddar that tastes delicious. I made myself an egg salad sandwich today. Some like celery in it. I do, but changed it up with green onion. It's so good with the sesame bagel. This bakery is in a plaza with parking all around it. There's a huge Starbucks cafe a couple of doors down, so it does get busy. I parked on the opposite side of where this bakery is and walked over. I'm glad that I can get my fix without doing a huge road trip out east. I am thrilled that I have found this bagel place. I am a happy Montreal-style bagel fan. (374)

What stands out with this store is corn bagels. I have not seen this variety at any other bagel store. If you have been following me for even the last two months, you know that I have an healthy affection for bagels. After having a late lunch at The Corned Beef House, I noticed this Bagel Nash two doors down. Should I go in? It wasn't even a question. My feet automatically walked me into the store. Sugar-free cookies greeted me. Customers are interesting. Apparently, I was blocking a woman who was in a serious hurry on a Saturday afternoon. I stood in front of the bagel section for what seemed to be ten minutes. The corn ones were there. I saw these huge sesame ones. There are Montreal-style bagels that have poppy and sesame seeds on them. There was also cinnamon and a bunch more. Bagels are cheap here. A dozen go for $7. I went for it. I got four each of corn, Montreal, and jalapeno. This place also had a wonderful selection of baked goods and breads. I want to get a croissant next time. You can also get a deli sandwich. I liked looking at all the cream cheese spreads. The challah looked amazing. I can see making a bread pudding with it in my cards. I walked over to the cashout area. I let the woman know that I had a dozen bagels. She took me for my word, without even looking into my bag. Nice! She asked if I needed freezer bags. Even though I can inhale a dozen bagels in a few days, I asked for them. I paid using my debit card. The woman was friendly and wished me a nice day. I reciprocated. The freezer bags are wide. They aren't like the narrow ones that you typically get. They do the job. I have had the Montreal and corn bagels already. The Montreal one is a bit thin, but is delicious. The corn bagel is larger and it's just how I remember it to be. It's chewy with a hint of sweetness. I like this store. I'd come back. Staff are friendly and I love how fresh their bagels are. (455)

Rather than having businesses throw out food and have it go to waste at the end of the day, they sell it at reduced prices through the app. I decided to expand my search radius, which has been wonderful. I found Bravo Baklava and Bagels. I bought a surprise bag for $6. My pickup time was between noon and 7 pm yesterday. I took my time getting there on a Saturday, eventually arriving well before 2 pm. Bravo is in a plaza with a bunch of other stores, diagonally across from Canada's Wonderland. I found a parking spot and backed into it. I didn't do any research about Bravo before I headed over. I was delighted to see a sign saying that it's a Turkish bakery. I was in Istanbul several years ago. I absolutely loved hitting bakeries. I walked through the door and saw a fridge with fizzy drinks. I have not seen them since I was in Istanbul. It threw me back and I was incredibly happy. A lovely woman behind the counter said hi. I reciprocated. I looked at all the baklava in the display case. Wow! I was mesmerized. I let her know that it felt like being back in Istanbul. It felt so comfortable. I then indicated that I had a Too Good to Go order. I showed her my code and she started packing stuff for me. I liked that she described what I was getting. I was shocked at how much she was giving me. She showed me a generous slice of mango cake. She gave me two containers. She also gave me two bags of simits, which are Turkish bagels. These ones were huge and fully covered in sesame seeds. Each bag had four simits. I was so shocked to get so much food. She indicated that I should freeze the simits and take one out whenever I wanted one. She was so helpful. I looked at the puddings and desserts. I couldn't take my eyes off a baked good with a honey glaze, with some sesame seeds on it. She was so kind to put one in a bag and give it to me. It was such a kind gesture. She was so generous. I thanked her for everything and wished her a great day. I walked out and put everything in my car before I drove off. I ate the honey-glazed baked good in the car. It was so fresh. It had a touch of sweetness. It was chewy and still warm. I loved the sesame seeds on top. I ate it plain, but I'm sure that it would be yummy with a spread of your choice. I had one of the mango cakes for dessert last night. The cake was moist and yummy. The mango puree on top wasn't overly sugary. It tasted like ripe, fresh mangoes. This morning, I had a simit for breakfast with a couple of fried eggs. There is something enjoyable breaking up a simit and dipping it into runny egg yolks. Delicious! Each simit is generously covered in sesame seeds. It's chewy and so perfect. I love bagels, but simits are special. I remember having one every day while in Istanbul, thanks to the lounge area that offered them any time of day. I'm so glad that I can get my fix here and be transported back to Turkey. Bravo makes authentic simits and I am thrilled to have seven more to enjoy before I head back there for more. It was such an unexpected, cool find. I will go back and get a carbonated imported drink from Turkey, along with some baklava next time. This place also has Turkish delight. It was another weakness that I had developed while in Istanbul. Bravo is so deadly, but so good for Turkish pastries and desserts. (126)

While there is very limited high top seating inside the bakery itself, there are plenty of tables inside the condo lobby just outside the bakery entrance. You could probably skip on the coffee - it was good, but not the star in my opinion. It's been around that long because the food and the prices are that good. I've stopped by here multiple times and always get the Old Fashioned Center Street Special on rye, medium (not lean) with extra meat. I've never been disappointed with this deli, the food is always delicious and tasty, the cuts of meat are fantastic, thick and juicy, and the fries are golden and crisp. It's a good deal for a good portion of food. The service is always friendly, with servers who are attentive, chatty and friendly. My only comment would be that because this Deli has been around for so long (as have I), I remember when I was little and the paint was fresh. But now it's been worn down and it's noticeable from the doorways to the chairs and tables. This staple of Thornhill is still delivering great food, but the restaurant itself needs some love and upkeep. A fresh coat of paint will go a long way. Even the washrooms (while very clean) have a smell to them. I believe it's time to give Centre Street Deli some love and freshen it up a bit for the younger generation.

You pay extra for vegetables and I'm too cheap to pay like a dollar for some cucumber. They have all different kinds of bagels the most popular is the rainbow bagel because more often than not it is low or not there. But don't fret because they're constantly making bagels all day and chances are there's something that's still warm to the touch because they've just brought it out!
