We had one tree removed today and another tree trimmed. One of our good friends recommended Josh and said they did a great job......we believed our friend and ignored previous Yelp reviews. It turns out that the tree that had to be cut down ended up hollow half-way up. Josh's climber is awesome as well as the clean up guys! They made sure not to knock out my neighbors fence or hit my other neighbors house. I decided not to have the stump taken out due to having to have heavy equipment in my yard which would tear up my grass, so they cut the stump as low as they could go to the ground! Clean up was fantastic and all the branches, tree trunks etc., were hauled away. We had three quotes and Josh's was right in the middle, which we felt was fair. ‼ Anyone looking to use a tree service, BEWARE AND AVOID at ALL costs using Wevers Tree Service out of Laporte if you want the job done correctly and completed. They cut a large tree down for us and left PILES and PILES of branches and shit ALL over the yard and shoved/piled up behond our shed stating they'd be back to finish clean up and grind the stump. Never showed back up, haven't returned phone calls and completely ghosted us despite being paid IN FULL for the job. The piles they left were killing our grass and had to all be removed by us the paying customer. They also told us they'd "build a road" in the yard for the heavy equipment as they were told that our yard does tend to get soft...never did that either and absolutely destroyed the yard with their equipment....holes everywhere that have had to be refilled with dirt to avoid someone breaking an ankle. Just disgusting business practice. Wevers Tree Service is unreliable, unethical, unprofessional, unscrupulous, subpar, dishonest, shady, deceptive, and incompetent. I hired this company to cut down a tree in my front yard. I was quoted $1500. They came out and did the tree but stated they needed to get a certain piece of equipment to do the stump and would be back. My 75 year old aunt was at our house since my husband and I work. The check was already made out so she paid the son of the owner. She asked for an invoice to which the son said they would get to us when they returned. At this time, the owner, Josh, was in the truck incessantly honking and started driving away while his son was at the door. Needless to say they never returned. My husband and I have tried countless times to call and text the only number we have. The owner, Josh, has answered us seldomly. He told my husband that his brother would come out and do the stump which never happened. When I told him I would be posting bad reviews and contacting the BBB, he has gotten verbally aggressive. I had someone come and look at the job and it would cost almost $400. There are many other reputable, non-aggressive, solid tree businesses around that no one would need to hire this company. read more

Earlier this summer, Justin Wever recommended a tree service to me. Obviously a family member. On July 5, 2018, Josh Wever was hired to cut down a tree on my father's property. He removed the tree as planned, but also did $1000 worth of damage when he ground the stump. He cut the electrical line running between the house and the garage. When I returned to the property to inspect the work, I immediately informed Josh and told him that the repair is something he should take care of through his insurance. His response was to deny that the electrical line even existed. He questioned why someone would run a line beneath the tree. I explained that the tree was about 50 years old and obviously had grown over the line. Josh claimed to have had NIPSCO out looking for utilities in the yard, which was obviously a lie. I know that was impossible because when my husband scheduled an electrician in to repair the damage, he had someone come and check the yard, and both the electrical and gas services were marked, and went right through the area in question. Thankfully, this joker didn't drop the tree on either of the houses it was over. I would NEVER recommend Josh Wever to do work for anyone if he will not accept responsibility for his mistakes. read more
