This was not an easy job for them. Between the heat and the fact the limb was on the back of the garage with no direct access. Earlier this month we contacted four different tree service companies in northwest Indiana to give…read moreestimates for taking down some large trees that were growing dangerously close to our house and garage. A big wind storm at the beginning of October had caused one huge limb to fall on the garage roof which made us realize that we could not delay this task any longer. Of the four services we called Jon's tree service was the most responsive as well as the most reasonably priced. They came out within a few days of first contact and emailed us an estimate within 24 hours of that visit. While they were taking down the dead or dying trees that were threatening the garage we did another inspection and realized we had additional trees that were in bad shape and so we expanded the project. Jon was happy to revise the estimate and was very generous in combining certain pieces of the project, like the chipping and the clearing up, so that we wouldn't be doubling the price. His team was very professional and efficient and we were astonished at how quickly they were able to get down these huge trees without damaging anything around them. Because we had expanded the project considerably we had to ask a family member for some financial assistance and Jon's was very gracious in giving us another week to pay the final installment after the job was done. We were truly impressed with every aspect of Jon's Tree Service and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a good tree removal company!

Most of the people I called flat out refused the work or like another local company, kept giving me the run around, saying they would give me an estimate but then never did. I was getting worried that I would not find someone willing to do the work. Jon's tree service gave me a fair price, and the crew finished the work in three days, climbing the high trees and taking them down piece by piece. The crew knew what they were doing, were friendly, and they were fast and efficient. I had a good experience with this company. Thank you!

Following a recent storm, we lost a large limb from an oak tree by our home in New Buffalo, MI…read more With some anxiety about the risk of further danger from future storms, we contacted several tree companies, and were advised to immediately remove the entire tree - at considerable expense. Christian from C&A, on the other hand, immediately responded to my call and then took time to explain why that one limb dropped, how its loss affected the physics of the tree's resilience in future storms, candidly advised us on the on-going risk, and counseled us to not rush into its removal out of undue anxiety. He was patient, highly insightful and instructive, and exhibited great care and concern for the tree as well as our well-being. While willing and able to remove the tree, he was willing to forego that work so as to ensure we could continue to benefit from that healthy tree. From his assessment, I not only received a master-class in how large trees respond to high winds - but also saved $$ and gained peace of mind. It pays to consult a true professional arborist like Christian.

I was told we were number 22 on their list, they were currently working on number 6, and that they expected to be at our property within two days. On the second day, I received a call saying they were running behind and would be out within the next couple of days. That was the last I ever heard from them. No call. No text. No follow-up. Nothing. Obviously, when you have a tree sitting on your house, you can't wait around indefinitely wondering whether a company is actually going to show up, so I had no choice but to find someone else to handle the cleanup. I completely understand being overwhelmed after a major storm. What I don't understand is telling a homeowner they are on your schedule, giving them a timeframe, and then simply disappearing. At the very least, a quick phone call asking whether we still needed service would have taken a couple of minutes. When someone is dealing with damage to their home, communication matters. Unfortunately, based on my experience, Ellis Tree Service completely dropped the ball on that.
