I pulled my car up to see what the prices were compared to back at my apartment. Before I even got into the building this guy (who i am assuming is the owner) asks me if I have my laundry with me. I am empty handed so of course I say no, and am immediently blown away by his aggressive and foreword tone. Stunned, he tells me to get out like I just vandalized his washing machine or something and that "no laundry, no change". I totally agree with that sentiment, but he was so aggressive and rude, and it was so out of nowhere that I couldn't even say a word, much less "I'm checking how much it is a load, and my laundry is in my car". I know he probably gets alot of weirdos coming in but talking so brashly to a stranger and not even allowing for them to say a word before yelling at them to "GET OUT", was not what I was expecting of my morning. I left silently, having said only one word, feeling distraught and defeated. my laundry had just gotten done in the dryer and when i pulled up a man was trying to steal my things ! i was defensive as anyone would be but even the owner was not on my side and said it was a mistake ? there is no way it was. i've learned not to ever leave it unattended from now on but i still think theft should be prevented by management. read more

I noticed that some of these reviews are a bit out dated but I really like this place. The rimes I have gone the machines worked well. A dryer or two is usually out of service but drying is super cheap! Twenty five cents gets you 8 minutes and the dryers work excellently! read more

Washers: Most are broken. Of the ones that work, most either have issues starting or finishing (draining water). Dryers: Work fine, 75 cents will dry a full load. Warning: There is no attendant and if you loose your money - there is no way to get it back. Use this place as a last resort! read more

Let me just preface this by saying, I like laundromats. I have been using laundromats my entire adult life. Eureka, Chicago, and now Arcata. Taking an hour and a half out of my day to sit with my laundry isn't the problem in this scenario. Westwood Laundromat: I just wish someone would actually manage this place. I have to use it because I don't have a car and it's only a block away, but god, it's the absolute pits. It's dirty and so so cramped by the dryers. Since there's no one running the place, it's kind of creepy too. There's nowhere clean to fold clothes. It often smells. I've seen people smoking cigarettes in here which is frustrating. They have a single small bucket for a trash can, and they only have three broken-down plastic chairs to sit on. However, I have to give it 2 stars because the actual machinery isn't bad. The dryers are nice and hey, they actually get my clothes dry no matter which one I use! Which is pretty great in terms of all the places I've been. Even Emerald City has a bunch of dryers that leave my clothes disappointingly damp after 40 minutes, despite it being more spacious and well-managed. Still, I wish some laundromat enthusiast would save Westwood from the misery of this place. Westwood residents deserve more than this laundromat. read more

Okay, so I know that there are nicer laundromats in Arcata, but for some reason I use this one anyways. The detergent machines: I forgot my detergent once, decided to pay the $1 in coins for a sample box of Tide...surprise surprise, nothing came out. No sign either saying anything. Washers: Many are broken, and they are rather small. $2 per load isn't that bad, but still, they have to be at least from the early 90s. Dryers: Really good! Huge dryers that cost me about $1.50 for alot of clothing that dried completely. Note: It's SUPER hot in there, like no ventilation and no water fountains. If your sticking by your clothes, bring a water bottle to hydrate and leave the front door open. read more

One of the crappiest laundromats I have ever been to. It smelt like an old gym sock sauna. I don't think the owners has ever cleaned anything inside. 85% of the washers were broken. Never going back again. read more

Gentle people of Arcata, DO NOT GO TO WESTWOOD LAUNDROMAT! It seems as if it is not managed at all: the machines are janky and dirty, and most of them are broken. Some of them are broken and they don't have any signs on them, so you will waste a ton of quarters (this has happened to me twice). Today I did a load of laundry and the washing machine door would not open, my clothes were literally stuck. I tried calling the number they provided, but surprise surprise, the mailbox was full. I tried calling a different number online, and it was disconnected. Luckily, some random guy kicked the door open so I could retrieve my clothes, otherwise I have no clue what I would have done. I went there because it's so close to my house, but trust me its worth going the distance to avoid this place! I hope the owner reads this, becuase clearly you are handling your business extremely poorly. read more

Horrible laundromat! Never go here! I put my money into the machine for detergent and low and behold nothing came out! So frustrating. There was no sign on the machine I am doubly pissed. From reading the reviews on here the machine has been sucking up people's money and not delivering detergent (with no out or order sign) for years....and YES 80% of the machines are all still broken. I had to call the number and demand a refund from the owner. He came and got the detergent to come out (it was apparently stuck) but after schooling him on the inconvenience of there being no sign and the fact that I couldn't get a washer to start after I put my money in....he decided to power trip and say he was closing the laundromat and to go elsewhere. Many machines are literally closed w duck tape. I asked him why he doesn't fix the shit and he gave me some kind of half ass lame excuse. Save yourself headache and don't ever go there. read more
