We've employed A-1 Cleaning Service for several months now, and things have gone well. Details and communication are handled well. The cleaners themselves are businesslike, pleasant and efficient, are well equipped, and busily clean the heck out of the place while you watch. We're signed up for a monthly two hour cleaning session, with two cleaners at once. and as the months go by they are gradually addressing the small "once in a while" cleaning jobs when they finish the routine stuff each month. Compared to hiring an individual, which we've done a number of times in the past, they are more thorough, more expensive (we think of it as an investment in our home, and also a bit of treat), and are very reliable. Plus you're not paying anyone "under the table", and they employ a number of people so that if one is not able to make it, there's a replacement available. We came to love several of the individual cleaners we employed in the past, and they did a good job of cleaning by and large, though. So it's partly a matter of choice: a nice person who you get to know who comes and cleans, or a business which approaches the job professionally, and does it well. I needed an estimate for a rental vacancy in Eureka CA where prior tenants had let their dogs smell up the place. I had torn out the carpet but wanted them to wash the walls. The team of 3 came to give an estimate and if I accepted it, they would work. First problem: Their website says they wear masks. But the person who headed the team, Hannah ,wore a half lower face plastic shield that offered no protection and was open on all sides. When I offered her a mask, she said hers worked enough so she could not get droplets into her face. I asked her and she disclosed she was not vaccinated. The other two team members, Dawn and Michael were well masked and respectful. After I told Hannah I was concerned about Covid issues her attitude was superficially professional but I was very uncomfortable. Second: I said problem was urine smell on walls. Took quite a while to discuss what would help the smell Finally not Hannah but Dawn discussed vinegar with me. I had already told the scheduling person that that was the reason for the cleaning . It was a unhelpful discussion. Third: At one point, during the walkthrough, Dawn asked me a question about the rental, I answered her in case she knew someone looking. Heather criticized me saying I should not be asking the workers to work prior to hiring them. I told her I wasn't. Fourth: They gave me an approximate estimate that was pretty high then went to the office and gave a bid that was sky high-I think they do't want the job. I don't want them to do the job. I am sorry for the other two of the crew that were appropriately masked, polite, helpful and professional, that this younger brash woman who did not act neither professional or knowledgeable, was the "head" of the team. I would be cautious about using them and check out the professionalism, covid masking during the estimate and walk through, etc. read more

As a matter of fact, today was supposed to be his day off but he still agreed to clean my carpets. I first found A-1 Cleaning Services when the carpet cleaning company that I originally called to clean my carpets failed to show up, that company was Carpet Wizard. I had prepared my home the night before, moving furniture and everything associated with getting the best bang for my buck and when the day came Carpet Wizard was a no-show so I called A-1 Cleaning and they hooked me up with Roger who came that same day. Had our carpets cleaned today. Very friendly lady scheduled the service, she said move all the little stuff and "the guys" will move the bigger things. "If there's more than a couple things they will charge by the hour". I explained the job and number of rooms and was given estate of $234. So only one guy shows up, nice guy did a good job, but can't move furniture because it's just him, so talked him into moving just three things with my help and total price now was $384!!! None of this would have been a problem if We weren't told that the "guys" would move the furniture and the price was $150 more than we were told!!!! Just don't like being told one thing and then it's different. Ended up going around most of the furniture and was charged $40 to help with moving 3 pieces (less than 5 minutes). read more

The office staff, scheduling, schedule confirmation phone calls all were OUTSTANDING and worthy of five stars however, the elation ended there for me and in this case my client as well, twice now. I will only write a negative review with at least more than one attempt at trying something out, everyone has an off day. I am a real estate professional, former property manager and, was in the US NAVY (anyone else that served can relate) so I know a thing or two about clean and cleaning. Both experiences represented here are on stick built, 2000 +/- square foot single family homes. The last experience, the addition of the windows at like $7.00 per pane, per side, standard window would run about $28! And, their, "paint prep" package that included the walls being cleaned and a couple other items, again for an additional charge. Both experiences came in over estimate, one by a couple hundred bucks! This last one that prompted this the window tracks were still dirty and glass streaked in places. I helped this particular client move into their new home so saw it first hand when we first started to move them in. I found bugs in some corners, dirt under the counter in the kitchen in the opening for the dishwasher and the kitchen cabinets were still, in my opinion filthy! I could have done better with some good ol' TSP and rag. There was still a film on the cabinets inside and out, like they were cleaned but still needed rinsed. There was literally cobwebs left in some of the ceiling corners. Dirty light fixtures, etc. etc. etc. They just did a lackluster job at best. There was still a musty smell present in the kitchen, no evidence of cleaning products. I guess I like a little "clean smell," bring on the Pine Sol, lol. Bummer too, their estimates and front office staff have always been easy to work with. read more

I've never had to clean a house after renting before so we hired professionals. It took 5 hours and the estimate seemed fair. We were there just before they finished and while the job was OK we pointed out a few things they missed. Then I noticed part of the floors were still dirty and the crew leader said that "it will all look like that when they're done" and pointed at the half of the kitchen that was shiny and clean. Then said something else like "we wait till the walk through is over so we don't get the clean floor dirty" which made sense. We went outside and chatted a bit while we waited before making the payment. We didn't go back inside until the next night to do some final touch ups. I took my shoes off and walked delicately across the hardwood living room floor and noticed that the dining room and the part of the kitchen we noticed before still had lose debris and was as dirty as before. They never finished the floors! I called and kind of got a runaround from them. I'm still expecting a call back but we have the landlord coming today and despite dropping over $400 I have to bring a broom and mop before the landlord comes anyway. 1 extra star because damn, the stove looks good now. read more

I live 4 hours away, in Santa Rosa. I gave A1 Cleaning a key and my credit card info. They emailed me the morning of the clean and told me they couldn't clean the house because they didn't have payment info. I replied. Then I called them and reminded them that they took my credit card info. She said she would call me back. The someone else called me back and said that they had put the key through the mail slot and that they would be unable to clean the house. I was furious as now there is no key and I am 4 hours away! I called back and asked to speak to the owner. She said he wasn't in. I asked for his name and she said she can't give it to me. I pushed until she finally told me his first name. I asked for his full name and she said she couldn't give it to me. I asked when he would be in and she said she was not allowed to give out that information! Really? Not allowed to give the first and last name of the owner and when he would be in? Good grief! TERRIBLE customer service and below average intelligence of office staff!!!!! read more
