Unfortunately, that all ended today. I was in the store this morning with my son and we were buying one thing, Pina Colada mix. Non-alcoholic of course. My son touched the bottle, so they said they couldn't sell it to us because he was underage. Okay, silly policy, but no big deal. I returned later in the day, and was informed that I was banned from ever purchasing anything in their store again, and that if I did not leave immediately, they would call the police and have me arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The woman "acting" as a manager was extremely rude, and even called me a "Karen" for asking questions because I said that made no sense given I made no attempt to purchase anything alcoholic at any point that day, or with my son in my presence. Of course, I ended up leaving because who needs the hassle, there are far too many other places to purchase alcohol or mixers in town, but I am very sad that my Wyatt's is not what it once was. Regardless of anything else, you just don't speak to or treat people that way, it's unacceptable.

My fiance had one of their specials which was a hot beer served in a coffee mug. It's similar to mulled wine mixed with cider and was really delicious. Every once in awhile an experience so either inspires me or irritates me that I'm motivated to return. I've lived in Boulder a long time, but recently moved to this side of town. I was looking to discover a new local wine shop to frequent, and although we got off to a rocky start, I was beginning to think this place could be my go-to. I typically buy a case of wine at a time. I've been in maybe 4x for cases, and a handful of other times for the one-off bottle here or there. I'm a health care worker and the last few months have been rough. I was driving by the other day in the brief period I have between work (stressful) and home (small child not in school), and realized I was overdue to refill my wine stock. I had a particularly challenging day and was near tears. Perusing wine is a happy distraction, and I thought I just had enough time -about 30 minutes, to pick out a case and a few bottles of liqueur. I had to cram a phone call into this time as well. I hurry in and the place has one customer in it. It's mid-afternoon on a weekday. I notice the sign on the door that says they have a 3 customer limit. Seems low to me, but good deal, they're trying to be safe. I spend about 20 minutes going back and forth between various wine sections trying to choose my case. I have 7 bottles in my cart, but I'm struggling with the last few because their selection is pretty picked over. They don't have most of the bottles I typically get, and their selection between $20 and $30 is much lower than usual. I suddenly look up to the usual young short-haired blonde woman with an angry, self-righteous expression on her face. She tells me I'm taking too long, I need to end my phone call and check out right now. I tell her I'm trying to pick out a case. She says there's a line of people trying to come in and I need to get out to make room for them. I'm mortified. In my sad-haze, I've been rude by spending too much time in the store! People are waiting for me! I quickly end my phone call, and rush up to the front where I discover the following. There is no line. There is one other person in the store who is checking out before me, so I wait in line for them to finish. The employee is laughing and chatting with the woman about how much business they are doing during COVID, and how much money they are making. There's about 10 different ways she could have alerted me to any worry she may have had that I was taking too long without lying and being rude. I guess this shop is doing so well on the backs of everyone's stress, isolation, depression and anxiety during COVID that they feel they can afford to lose customers. And since there's at least 3 other wine shops in Boulder with a great selection where the employees have always been kind and helpful, luckily I'll be in good hands.

It was pretty empty when we arrived, but began to fill pretty quickly. I ordered the Vegetable Korma. I've noticed that every Indian restaurant has its own version, but it's usually sweeter than spicy, so it's my go-to. This version used shredded coconut and ground nuts for the sweet. It had beans, cauliflower, and more. I also had their mango lassi, which was wonderfully refreshing. My husband doesn't remember the name of what he ordered and enjoyed, but I think it's Malai Kofta. It was a vegetable dumpling in a cream sauce. I had a bite, and it was delish. We also had the garlic naan. Our friends found us as we were finishing. They are vegans, and it turned out they hadn't found food they could eat at the street festival, so they joined us. I'm not sure what they ordered, but they seemed to enjoy it. The one she ordered, which was next to me, seemed to be primarily potato and cauliflower. So, by accident, I found a new favorite restaurant in Longmont! We waited about 20 minutes just for drinks and eventually had to go up to the bar ourselves. When we asked about it, the bartender simply said, "I'm working on it," which was frustrating given how long we had already been waiting. There were 4 tales in the restaurant and like 8 employees Things did not improve from there. Our food came out very slowly and one of the meals had to be sent back. We ended up having to go to the bar multiple times, including for a to go box and even to get our check, because no one was checking on our table. To make matters worse, the menu states that guests are asked to limit their visit to 90 minutes. However, due to the slow and inattentive service, we were there for nearly two hours through no fault of our own. There also used to be a sense of customer service here, which seems to have changed. To top it off, gratuity was automatically added without it being mentioned or explained. That felt especially inappropriate considering we ended up doing a large portion of the service ourselves. It's like they figured they were getting auti gratuity so didn't provide any service Really disappointing experience overall. Not sure what changed, but this was a huge step down from our previous visit.
