Rocky Mountain Discount Liquor was open late enough on the Sunday evening we arrived to accommodate us during their last 30 minutes of operating hours. The store has the feeling of a well-stocked local liquor store. Prices for beer were as expected, liquor seemed a little higher than I'm used to in Texas, also not unexpected in a small mountain town. The owner was quite friendly and helpful. I visited during COVID-19 so I never saw his face. But, he had smiley eyes and assisted me in finding several items I needed. Our group was curious about local craft beers and found a decent selection from the four local breweries and from Avery Brewing in Boulder, of which we are also fans. The store is conveniently located on the west end of town, not far from where we were staying. Had a great experience!

I wasn't familiar with tequila sizes Redstone carried nor current brands so asked the woman wearing a French braid at the counter if she sold half pints. She showed me a bottle of Herradura for $17. I asked if she had any other half pints of tequila at which she replied YES, THIS IS IS A HALF PINT!.." I then asked if she had any other tequila to which she pointed at the shelves along the wall. Being in my 50s and without my glasses I couldn't make out where her finger was pointing and told her " I'm sorry where is the tequila you were pointing to?" She came around the counter and marched toward me, leaned toward the shelves and waved her arms along the front of all the bottles and walking along them while yelling "THEEEESE ARRRE ALLLLL THE TEQUILAAAS!!.." I was kind of taken back but kept my cool thinking this chick is just nuts! ha Deciding I didn't want an entire liter I told her I would just take the half pint she had. She grabbed it off the shelf, slammed it down on the counter and rang it up along with a $6 bottle of margarita mix I had. With no one else waiting in line behind me I started to get cash out of my wallet which I guess pissed her off more, possibly because I wasn't using a debit card (maybe?) at which point she began tapping her fingers on the counter in a rolling sound in an attempt to intimidate me to go faster. I got the exact change out and began to hand it to her at which point she reached out and snatched the cash out of my hand in one quick motion before I could let go and hand it to her. I left the store realizing this girl obviously has issues, hates her job along with a bad attitude toward older customers. I told this story to my friend who I was staying with while in town and he said the staff at Redstone have always been nice to him. Not sure what her problem was with me but I definitely rubbed her wrong that day. ha

The Colorado spirits are grouped together in their own aisle, clearly labeled, so I didn't have to hunt and scour labels. We should have thought to buy a basic bottle opener there for the beer, because our only option at the Stanley gift shop was a ridiculously overpriced corkscrew combination!
