Since we were here on Star Wars day (May 4th), there were even green Yoda drinks with eyes and lime slices for ears. They definitely played up this theme all day and it was a really nice touch. What was noticeable throughout the evening was how good the food was. Everyone at the table said it was better than previous years at a different golf course. The antipasto, which is usually my least favorite dish, was really good. The beef entree was amazing. It was cooked perfectly medium on the inside with the same color pink throughout. The staff were courteous and accommodating. One person at our table asked for the personal caesar salad without bacon since the shared salad had bacon and we pretty much received another shared salad. Towards the end of the evening, the staff were clearing off tables while the banquet was winding down. But they were a little too quick to clear the tables that they took away someone's photo booth photos before those people came back to the table to claim their photos. Lots of free parking, large space that is well marked, organised and staffed. All events are outside, so dress accordingly to the weather. Inside the main house is the washrooms and food. They serve big scoops of Kawartha Diary with almost all the flavours made. For mini put, there are two courses to try; Shipwreck or the logging theme. Shipwreck is slightly more challenging. Somehow my kids got the par for the course which is labelled on a sign at each hole. They now think they're big shots and want to go pro, meanwhile my ball enjoyed the water features in the Shipwreck course. The batting cages are self explanatory. Sign at each cage tells you what to expect from ball type to speed level. One token gets 15 pitches, just get the 5 special pricing, it doesn't expire. Bring your own helmet and bat as the ones supplied may not be the greatest. This area is either empty or packed with teams going there to meet up and waiting for a certain pitch. It would be better if they could adjust cages depending on needs of the group. Otherwise the wait can be long.

There's also an area for driving range if you just want to practise your swings. I've only gone on a course a few times so I'm still not too familiar with all the rules. If you are not too familiar with it as well, be sure to read the rules on the card that I've posted. Remember to arrive 20 mins before your Tee time to make payment and you should book the time in advance. This is another great fun family activity for "staycation". With my family, we don't take this game seriously so we play best ball so that we don't feel too much pressure from the group behind us. I recall the first time taking my daughter golfing when she was about 9 and she just loved riding the power kart!

Getting a rain cheque was no problem. With nothing else to do, we had lunch in the clubhouse. Today's special was a half a rack of ribs with coleslaw and potato salad. The ribs were cooked very well and fall-off-the-bone tender. Nice flavour. The potato salad and coleslaw were properly seasoned. I'm very particular about potato salad and most lack any kind of seasoning. This one was good. As long as St. Andrew's Valley keeps doing things right, I'll keep making the 45 minute drive from home to get here.

Great landscaping and the buildings are cute. If you didn't know it was a golf course you would think it was a winery or those little shops that make their buildings look old time ish There's a cute patio off of the meeting building that looks out over the gf course. It's really nice Meeting building: It could be nicer inside. It's an 1980sand 1990s mix. The weird thing, everything seems new. They need to hire a decorator. Salmon paint in the washrooms. Not so classy Oh the washrooms, they have two women stalls in the washroom on the lower floor. Not the best when there's a meeting with a lot of women. You have to walk down stairs to get to them. If you can't walk down stairs you have to go to another building to use the accessible washrooms. That doesn't seem right. Minus one star. Oh they really need to clean the carpets, they are filthy. Visibly filthy Food: Yum The staff is able to take neutral foods, chicken-salmon-veg-pasta, and make it tastes great. Always more than enough for everyone, served on time and by smiling buffet staff. The patience in answering multiple emails, questions and follow up questions is how I knew my experience here would be good. The good - The alcoholic drink options were okay, the variety wasn't large but the cocktails and mocktails were good. Food was good too. The karaoke was a bit confusing to navigate at first but we got the hang of it. There's something for everyone here and coming in a large group definitely made it worth it.

Overall I enjoyed my time but I'm not an outdoors person and I didn't enjoy the bugs at night. The parking lot is a little walk down the slope. When we arrived they have staff driving golf carts taking people up the slope but when we left there was no such service. It's a bit out in the countryside so it gets really dark at night. Workers here are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Special shoutout to Sal for going through the extra trouble of locating a more suitable club for me when I wasn't really happy about the one they initially gave (& also bringing it right up to me at the range!) The driving range is pretty spacious & there are plenty (although it does get more crowded later on in the day). There are a few target practicing flags on the range as well. I haven't had the chance to play holes here but I would love to next season!

This was our first return to Putting Edge since they moved into the Colossus plaza after the huge…read morefacility they had near IKEA/Dave and Buster's. We were a bit skeptical of how it would measure up, because it's in a much smaller unit, but we turned out pleasantly impressed. The one obvious improvement is that it's newer than the old facility, but it's been a few years since they moved. Yet, it is still very fresh and clean. We booked our tickets online prior to going, as recommended on their website, to avoid any wait behind others to get started. Sure enough, we only had to wait a couple of minutes once we arrived to get started. In the meantime, we wandered among the arcade amusements you can enjoy. You can purchase ticket packages in bulk if you want to enjoy the arcade machines and games in lieu of or in addition to your mini golf experience. We were handed out putters and able to choose what colour glow-in-dark ball we wanted. We were able to begin right away. Throughout the entire 18 holes, we rarely had to worry about waiting on people ahead of us, or causing delay to anyone behind. It wasn't perfect, but it was a testament to how well they manage to stagger entrants. All of the holes were different, in terms of layout and paint design. Everything was aesthetically pleasing. The challenge level was a good medium so that you don't want to scream with frustration, but not so easy as to make it absolutely boring. I'd say we spent maybe 90 minutes or so in total to complete the course. We were asked if we'd like to have a scorecard to keep track, which we did. It wasn't always easy keeping up, moving along, and writing scores on the fly, but it made it a little more fun to keep the competitive streak running. We dropped our putters off before exiting the course and were done. It was a great family activity, which I'd recommend with any group you might want to play with. They also offer party packages, with a full sized party area to accommodate a celebratory meal. We'll definitely return every so often for a fun, family experience.
