Pep Boys - this is after they admitted there was an oil leak and fixed it today.

Pep Boys

Pros: Extremely helpful Very polite…read moreThorough Had parts in stock Cons: Takes a long time even with appointment Overpriced I took my fiancés 2016 jeep Cherokee in for an oil change today, and to have the brakes and rotors looked at. My appointment was for 1 PM, I didn't leave there until about 5 PM, so it definitely took a long time. When I got there, Sean was at the desk and helped me get set up with the car. Went through the oil change and costs with me and we discussed the brakes. I told him the issues we were having, and he was going to check them out. The oil change took little over an hour. Sean then came to tell me we needed all four pads and rotors replaced and what it was going to cost, which was about $1400. I asked him if we would be better off buying the parts and doing it ourselves, and he said with the cost of parts today, probably not. So I gave them the green light. I went to Mizu and was talking to my dad about the cost who informed me that I was being screwed out of money. So I looked up some of the parts and looked like a lonely psychopath sitting by myself in Mizu crying eating a sushi roll because life loves hitting us with big costs one after another. So, I went back over to Sean to talk about this. I asked him to print me a slip showing exactly what I'm paying for, which he very kindly did. He was very transparent with the costs and labor. The problem was with pep boys prices. They quite literally marked up one rotor more than 100%. I showed him the exact part on the internet, and how I'm being charged $400 in markups on just the rotors. Sean helped me very patiently for quite a while. He went through all the costs with me and answered every one of my questions. I kept offering to let other people go in front of me, but he declined that. Sean did literally everything he could to help me out with cost today which I am incredibly thankful for. He dropped costs everywhere he could. At the end of it, with all of the discounts, we still paid about $450 in labor and markups. Both Sean and Jason were absolutely great and very helpful, and I was happy to have dealt with them. If you don't care about cost, I'd definitely recommend this place. However this can be done for a lot cheaper on your own or probably in a more personal shop instead of a chain. If they didn't already start the work, I would have just left and had my fiancé do it. But what was done was done, so learning lesson for me and hopefully for whoever reads the reviews. Jason and Sean, thanks again for all of your help today! Appreciate you guys!

Valvoline Instant Oil Change

Valvoline Instant Oil Change

OK, so who honestly likes having to take time out of their busy day to do "adulting" type stuff…read morelike oil changes? None of us. And if you say you do you are lying. (Or you really need to get out more - in which case you are on Yelp put it to use my friend.) That being said i have to say Valvoline makes it so easy to get an Oil Change. I pulled right in at 11:40 on a Friday. I lucked out with NO line, NO wait and the guys were super friendly. If you have never been to a Valvoline you have a team working on your vehicle. They check your lights, your air pressure, etc and of course change your oil. One attendant will be at your window asking questions, updating info and going over their suggestions with you. All in all you really can be in and out in 15 minutes or very close to it. They keep the two bay shop very clean and there is limited "garage smell" even with your window down. I personally do not mind having to stop in and get an oil change with these guys. It's fairly painless and I can sit Valvoline!

I am really impressed with how these men did their job. They were so professional. Wayne, Aaron,…read moreand Anthony actually explained everything they were doing. I had full service with oil change, radiator fluid replacement, tire rotation, cabin air filter replacement, automatic transmission fluid replacement, and they checked my AC and lights. They didn't try to rip me off or tell me I needed something that I didn't need or want. They even showed me the condition of the filters and let me know that one didnt need replaced yet. I do not know much about cars....and as a female I have been ripped off quite a bit....especially by dealerships. The cost was no where near as expensive as the dealerships or other mechanic type shops. I am quit satisfied. I will be back for sure.
