It's taken me too long to write this review on how amazing Jake of Westside Hypnotherapy is. I decided to finally work through my fears of deep water and drowning that have plagued me for 15 years and book a hypnotherapy session with Jake. He would give me homework afterwards to listen to our recorded sessions, which I diligently did. After a few sessions I noticed a feeling of light was that I had, and no more dreams of drowning. I eventually enrolled in private swim lessons with a coach in early 2018 and I've been swimming ever since. I've had PTSD for almost two years after being attacked at gunpoint; I wouldn't leave the house in the evenings and would have panic attacks during the day. Within two sessions my PTSD was gone. I have been an insomniac with night terrors for over twenty years, on a nightly basis. My recurring night terrors were gone within the first three visits and I began falling and staying asleep within the first three sessions as well. Jake has been great. I was a bit embarrassed when I first came to him. I went to Jake for help with some major anxiety issues that arose after an incident. It was affecting my day to day life - work, social, and personal in really debilitating ways. I felt pretty hopeless, and trapped. I didn't know what to do. I was suspect of hypnotherapy helping, believing I wasn't susceptible enough to this method (I'd tried hypnotherapy once years ago with someone in NYC and was aware the whole time and did not fall asleep or anything along those lines - nor feel any change afterwards). So I had been smoking something daily since the age of 15 and I'm 43 years old. I had been want to stop smoking for a long long time but I truly believed I couldn't go without it. I have seen Jake Rubin for two sessions and will be going back. He is the epitome of professional and incredibly kind. The sessions begin with talk therapy and then move onto hypnotherapy. I found it very easy to relax and to share the things that I wanted to work on in my life. Jake immediately felt trustworthy and had a very intuitive and intelligent vibe that made me feel secure, safe and comfortable. I was very impressed with his ability to parse out the large amount of information I threw at him and to get down to the core issues that needed attention. After my initial session I was given a recording of the hypnotherapy portion to listen to at home. I did so two days after my session and then returned a week later for my second session. I can't say that I had any sort of snap or moment where I felt better instantly, but I can, without a doubt, say that I 100% feel better in general! It's incredible really. My anxiety and tendencies to over think and worry are almost non existent and I am enjoying my life in a way that I was not able to prior to my hypnotherapy sessions with Jake. I will be returning to wrap up one more time but I truly think that three sessions is all it will take. Compared to years of talk therapy it is much cheaper and unequivocally more effective. Absolutely worth it. I was out to lunch one day with co workers and choked on a piece of food. That experience lead me to a fear of swallowing and it was awful. Over the past 4 weeks I was losing weight because I couldn't get myself to swallow anything and didn't know how to overcome something seemingly instinctual and natural. I did some research online and found Jake Rubin. He had great experience and reviews. I emailed him and let him know what was happening with me and he got back to me that same day and wanted to schedule a consultation. After about a 20 minute phone call, I met with him for a session. The environment was relaxing, he is very personable and makes you feel very comfortable. I've never been hypnotized before but I've seen others get hypnotized at parties and I was kinda skeptical of whether or not this would work for me, but I was willing to try anything if it meant me getting over this fear. After the session was over he brought in some snacks for me to eat and it worked! We sat together and he ate the snacks with me and we had a normal conversation and not at one point was a stressing or worried about whether or not I could swallow this food.
