Gave Westridge an extra star for the new Yamaha electric carts. What a great upgrade. Still a slow round of five hours, which was very painful. A couple of groups of beginners, grabbing early tee times slowing the whole course for the day. The greens are still in winter condition, very rough shape. The NCCGA collegiate golf tournament just took place at Westridge and this course was the only course on the tour that had no spectator carts available for parents of players. Their reservation site even says there are limited spectator carts available, but spectators were shut down at the pro shop and told there were no carts available. It was obvious to anyone who has any experience with a well run golf course that there were carts available. The two pro shop guys, however, stubbornly stuck to their story that there weren't any. Additionally, the players were harassed by the course Marshall to hurry up their pace of play as they were falling a few minutes behind what the course believed the pace should be. The groups being harassed were waiting for the groups in front of them on every hole, so speeding up the pace would have been impossible. This is completely unnecessary and unprofessional behavior by a representative of a golf course holding a collegiate tournament. Eddie Haskell and Beaver Cleaver in the pro shop need to dial back on the spray tanning as the chemicals have clearly killed off brain cells. Those two couldn't problem solve their way out of a wet paper bag. What they lacked in ability to think outside the box, they sure made up for in being condescending and stubborn. I will not only never play this course, but will recommend friends and family avoid it as well. I would be shocked if the NCCGA ever uses this course for a future tournament. read more

This course is a favorite local spot with 6 par 3s, 6 par 4s and 6par 5s. It's usually in good condition and the staff is helpful and friendly. After a round of golf, please try the club house cafe...the food is excellent! The bar is well stocked, service is brilliant and lots of big screen TVs to watch any sport. Serving staff is friendly. Driving range is usually in great shape. The course, however, for the price is not worth $85 for a Sunday round. Too many bare spots, bunkers are not prepped. Weekend times are more expensive. The greens should be mowed and smooth and bunkers should be raked. Recent weather left the sand compacted and hard. The course is very well maintained and is a fun, and unique track with 6 par 3's, 6 par 4's and 6 par 5's. The grill has above average food and the grill staff does a good job handling orders for the most part. The young cart ladies do a fantastic job navigating the course and making sure golfers have what they need. They were even handing out free water out on the course on a recent hot afternoon. Now for the negative. I've been playing this course for years since I and several friends live in the area. However, the golf shop staff are really pushing the memberships to the point where if you are not a member you are treated as if you are a nuisance. More and more visitors here are complaining about this and the sometimes rude or pushy attitude of some of the golf staff. Some of the membership options seem fair but only if you play here year round. When a public golf course refuses to sell a small bucket of range balls to a guest because they are not a "member" and they charge a large bucket for $20, they have gone too far. It is very obvious that whoever is running this golf shop is concerned about one thing, and it's not being courteous or welcoming to its non member golf guests. I've walked out of the golf shop after paying my green fee and overheard other players complain about how unprofessional some of the golf shop staff can be. I was actually considering one of the membership options but after my last two visits this summer, I'm out. I'll be playing other courses now looking for a fun experience. read more

I was driving on Custer when my windshield was hit by a golf ball and completely shattered while my child was in the car. It scared her so bad and she was crying. I pulled over and found the ball and then went to the golf course the manager on duty the lady said sorry we are not liable, and she even tried to tell me they don't even have a golf course just the driving range wasn't empathetic for scaring the crap out of us. I finally was able to talk to somebody else and they told me the general manager would email me with insurance company information. I emailed him three times with no response. Unfortunately I will have to go to small claims to get them to pay for my windshield because they refuse to do the right thing , besides that they're refusing have a conversation with me. super disappointing and super unsafe for them not to have netting when I pulled over to get the ball that hit my car we found countless golf balls on the side of the road. This place is disrespectful, rude, and is discriminatory. The Kelly at the front is rude and discriminatory towards people who are not of her type. I was in the sports shop for an hour waiting for my key and watch 20 other people get their key including my own party. I ask why I can't have mine, she said " you have to wait till your party gets here" which they were they check in already and had their key. We eventually get our key then the starter Fred states that Kelly is always rude and like this to several customers daily. No big deal we were over it. On hole nine the so called manger " Chad" says we have to leave and kicked of for his employee getting offended because she was rude and discriminatory towards people.My friends witness this, Fred the starter confirmed this, then the manger kicks us out for her being rude? I have videos as well showing his action. I play golf evey weekend in dfw and this is un heard of. On top of that it was my bday as well. A horrible experience. read more

I signed up for their monthly membership prior to playing a round because it sounded good. After playing there round, I decided the course wasn't for me. The gentleman at the front desk asked me to email the manager, Chad to cancel which I did the day after. No response after 7 days so I called his number and left a voice mail. No response after several days. I then sent a follow up email asking for a reply and reiterated that timely responses is a basic principle of customer service. He finally responded with "And we already took care of cancelling your PLP. Basic principle of Customer service". The arrogance and lack of accountability of not being responsive speaks to how the customers are not valued. If he would have responded that it was taken care of, this would be a non-issue. Perhaps a response of, "I apologize for the delay in responding but this is taken care or. We are sorry to see you go but we hope to have you as a member in the Future." Basically he said, leave me alone as it's been taken care of. Don't let the door hit you on your behind. I was considering possibly joining the monthly program again but not anymore. To Chad's Manager, his response speaks to his value as a manager. read more

This course is fun to play. The variety of 3, 4 and 5 par holes adds interest. The greens, tee boxes, fairways and most of the traps are in nice shape. The practice tee is often too crowded; the chipping and putting greens are notably small and not very functional. The golf cart GPS systems provide distances to traps and other features. Most notably, the staff has consistently been very helpful, even to this high handicapper. I've been impressed with the pro shop staff (including Kelly) and the starters. Perhaps others have a different experience, but this is now our group's favorite track. read more

Service is just abysmal, they overbook the course often and there is never a Marshall out to regulate the course whatsoever. I play here often and it's just getting worse each trip there. If it wasn't so close to the house and didnt serve the best tuna melt, I would never go there. It has such potential but needs some management that cares. read more

It's nice because it's one of the cheaper courses but I guess you get what you pay for. They book tee times so close together that you'll be waiting on 3 different groups at one hole and then 4 different groups will stack up behind you. The condition of the course is not great and they've had an unfinished, stagnant construction project in the clubhouse ever since I started going. AKA when you walk in the club house you'll step onto paper covering the floor as if someone was painting. The most annoying part though was that I signed up the the PLP membership not knowing that there are only select PLP times you can play. Otherwise, you pay full guest price. The staff encouraged me to sign up, saying if you come more than twice a month it pays off. But they failed to mention the select times. The only way I learned this was when I booked a tee time, they asked me if I was PLP, I said yes, they charged me $140, and then I asked why it was so expensive. They said it's not during the PLP time. I had no clue. I wish they would have warned me before I booked the tee time because my membership certainly did not pay off. read more

Clean golf course with a friendly and helpful staff. Cart girl was VERY accomodating. The course is long and you get a few nice chances to nail your driver. Threre are a few long par 4's that you need to lay up. Overall, I was very pleased with how this golf course plays, how it flows and how the staff treated me. read more

Golf course is unique and in great condition. I come here once a week at least as it is close to my home and their practice facilities are good The reason my rating is so low is that the staff here are unbelievably rude. I have never had a pleasant experience with one of them. Especially the woman that works in the pro shop. I have seen her resort to immediate yelling early and often with multiple customers including myself. Usually over things that are misunderstandings and could easily be resolved. It's a shame such a good course has such an uninviting staff. I would look elsewhere in the area for golf. read more

I called today and asked if the range was open and was told it was. I drove 20 minutes to get there and when I got to the back of the Pro Shop, I noticed every spot was taken on the driving range. "Dan" told me I would have to wait until 25 people left the range before being able to hit some balls. There were quite a few people in front of me which meant there would be quite a wait. "Dan" told me the range was open at Oak Hollow Golf Course and I could go there if I did not want to wait. I thought to myself that it would have been nice for someone to tell me that there was a long waiting time before making the drive, but I didn't say anything. I decided to call Oak Hollow just to make sure the range was open before going there and was told the range was closed because there were not enough people working to be able to pick up the balls. As I waited, I heard "Dan" tell someone else the same thing he had told me; that they could go to the range at Oak Hollow. I approached "Dan" and tried to explain to him that I had just called Oak Hollow and the range was closed. Before I could finish my sentence, "Dan" raised his voice to me and told me his friend was at Oak Hollow earlier and the range was open. I tried to explain to "Dan" that I had just called 2 minutes earlier and was again interrupted by "Dan", this time he raised his voice even higher to make sure I understood that he was sure the range at Oak Hollow was open. I looked at him for a few seconds and then turned my back to walk away. Under my breath, I whispered to myself, "What an a__hole". Rabbit Ears "Dan" apparently heard me and immediately yelled out, "Did you call me an a__hole!?" I walked up to "Dan" and started to try to explain that he was sending people to a Driving Range that was closed. Again, he interrupted me before I could finish my sentence and told me I would have to leave. I looked at "Dan" and said, "So you're going to throw me off of your golf course? He said, "That's right. And if you don't like it, you can talk to my General Manager". I simply told him he was not worth the trouble. This is a good little local course. I do believe it is overpriced for the condition and complexity of the course, but is a good place where you can generally get in with short notice. There is nothing too fancy about the course. It is pretty open, but does offer some hills and trees. The service is very friendly. There is a small pro shop and the food is nothing to write home about. I rarely see a beverage cart so that gives me the sense that this place is all about the golf and is no holds barred. A great place to come with some buddies for a chill round. read more

I was a member here briefly, but I ended up cancelling due to a change in my schedule.. Anyways, I went in to cancel and filled out all the required paperwork back in November. I just noticed I've been getting charged the entire time since then. Granted, that's partly my fault because I didn't notice it for the last couple of months, but either way, I did my part by coming in and filling out the cancellation form, and they did not process my paperwork on their end. I was the golf courses plumber for over 10 years. I own a small company, local to McKinney and loyal to my customers. We never had any issues getting paid from the course until the new management showed up (hi brad and neil). I was told that I wasnt going to get paid, that it must have been a "handshake deal that went wrong". Well I dont know about you but around these parts when you give your word with a handshake that pretty much makes it concrete. They stole 2400.00 from me and did it with a straight face. Course is in good shape and easy. They stack the tee times close together so your looking at a 5 hour round. Friday through Sunday you can easily push into 6 hours. Would not recommend this plane unless you like waiting 20 plus minutes on every tee box. read more

My golf group (14 players-all seniors) has been playing at Westridge for two years. Recently we had two groups signed up for Juneteenth and went and played. Two of our members had personal issues that cropped up on that day and could not play. Because of this they charged me $40 plus tax per person even though they did not play. Their stance is if you don't notify 24 hours ahead then this is the penalty. I got the normal "I can't do anything about it. That is our policy".They got $600 in revenue that day from the six players, but want more. They refused to give me a credit for the money they charged. This is the only course in the Metroplex that does this kind of thing. This is the only course I have ever played that I had a 6 1/2 hour round. They had a HS girls tournament that they booked during prime time during the week. When we talked to the manager, Ian, about this unreasonable time his comment was, "Yea that is pretty long". Not- we won't be doing that again. Not- yes I apologize. Pretty much didn't care. We won't be playing Westridge again because of this attitude by the management. Pretty poor business practice to forfeit $10,000 annual revenue from my group in lieu of giving an $87 credit. read more

Course is pretty good with some great lyes on the greens. They have a Driving range and putting greens that are really good. I went in to try the Golf Shack food and just wanted a burger, The Gentelman at the Golf Shack Grill told me I couldn't have just a burger, I had to order the meal. I didn't want the fries and the drink! Why can't a golfer just get a burger or a hot dog without ordering the whole meal. Besides that I thought it was overpriced at $10.50. The Local Yocal is literally a block over and probably better! Get a grip and give a flex menu. My Doc. doesn't want me eating french fries! read more

The course is not bad, the chipping green is WAY too small and you can't use range balls on the chipping green. The worst part is $21.00 for a bucket of range balls and that's CRAZY when I can go 8 miles down the road and get the same bucket for $12 at Oak Hollow. So I asked for a small bucket and they will only sell a small bucket to course members. So, in other words, if you're not willing to pay their monthly membership fees (public course) they don't care about your business. I will not be back!!!!!!!!!! read more

*** I RECOMMEND NOT TO HOST TOURNAMENTS AT THIS COURSE *** A childhood friend of mine had his first child 13 years ago. She was born with a disability where doctors thought she wouldn't be able to walk. However, the incredible doctors at Scottish Rite said otherwise. She has had multiple surgeries over the years and has more scheduled later this year as well as next. As most know Scottish Rite is a non-profit and operates with assistance of donations. That being said my friend started a golf tournament 11 years ago to simply give back. The tournament has continued to grow and grow and grow!!! He now has 160+ golfers every year and has raised over $200K for Scottish Rite. It is always an amazing day that we all look forward to. He lives/works in McKinney and it was important to keep to his family to keep it in the community. As you can imagine they've had to move to different courses to accommodate the overwhelming response. Which leads me to West Ridge Golf Course. Last year was the first year the tournament was hosted at this course. Everything seemed fine until roughly six weeks before tournament date. Now, I will say my buddy did NOT sign a contract when scheduled months before based on the direction of The Tournament Director. Shame on my friend! However, they locked down dates and everything was ok. About a month to six weeks before he reached out to confirm and sign contract. That's when the GM - Terry Gumm stepped in to try and raise all the prices. He said tournament director would not have agreed to price per golfer that was quoted. Would not allow donations of water and food to help raise money for Scottish Rite simply because that's how they make money. I get making money! Bottom line, they were making 2/3 of the entry fee to host a 1/2 day tournament, alcohol sales and merchandise purchases which I feel was pretty good for them. My buddy decided to have tournament at West Ridge again this year simply because it was the quickest we had ever played in 10 years. Well it happened again but this time it's worse. He called today to confirm just as he did last year. This time Mr. Terry Gumm told him oops they double booked. And other tournament has already signed contract, so nothing we can do. If you locked it in wouldn't you call the original group to let them know you need to sign or other group gets date?!? Nope! My buddy had to call to confirm and instead gets told to kick rocks!! Guarantee they were making more money per golfer with new group. Fortunately, we were able to go back to original host course on just 6 weeks notice. Just a Sh!*y way to do business in my opinion. Especially when most people are very active in the McKinney area. Wouldn't be surprised if this course has change of ownership in near future due to lack of business. Thanks Terry Gumm!!!! read more

The Tournament Director (Mr. Terry Gumm) at this course is awful and unprofessional. For the second year in a row he has raised the agreed upon price for a 11 year old charity tournament. Benefiting Scottish Rite Hospital an organization that does tremendous work for kids. Pressley's Promise is the tournament. This tournament has raised 200k plus for Scottish Rite in the 11 years it has been running. I would play anywhere else but this place. Unprofessional poor business practices. read more
