We requested a table move and actually moved ourselves. The strawberry lemonade was good. The food - problems: the Shrimp "scampi" was fettuccine and the sauce broken. A gluten glob at best laying in a puddle of oil. The Muscles marinera was over sauced and should (in our opinion) have come with bread of some kind. The Rib Eye (ordered medium rare) was anorexic in cut and prepared medium/well. The better part of service was Amy. Our server was pleasant and communicated well. Our appetizer was calamari and unevenly prepared. It arrived with the meal and came only once we reminded it hadn't began our dining experience. The meal took 1 hour 10 minutes to be served in total. For what it cost, it may have been better spent elsewhere. 3 stars is a stretch. 2 star meal bonus point added for service.

Sadly, they had no chardonnay for me, just pinot grigio which I ordered 'cause hubby really wanted a beer by now. The bartender was nice and apologetic that she didn't have my preferred wine. I have to also mention that we were here off-season, so perhaps things are different in-season. What I don't understand is why don't these restaurants just buy a box of decent chardonnay (NOT an oxymoron) and keep it in the fridge for when someone orders it. I mean, a box stays fresh for 30 days or more, so it's not a big deal to just have that on hand when some high-maintenance Chardonnay drinker like me shows up unexpectedly! (Ha...I'm not high-maintenance) The location was pretty cool, overlooking the marina, so that was a plus. But, if they don't have your drink...well, sometimes you just can't recover from that.

The food quality has improved a great deal since I was last here a few years ago. I ordered the seafood fettuccine, cheese curds and Brussels sprouts. The serving sizes of the pasta and sprouts was for 2 people. I inhaled the pasta dish, so incredibly tasty. The seafood was fresh, and there was just one small hard bit of clam shell but that happens when serving them on the shell. Jumbo shrimp wasn't expected and seemed to have been swimming that morning. Tasty salmon. Divine sauce, which I don't think I've ever thought of an Alfredo before. Quality cheese. The sprouts were roasted/blackened, and tasted great. A bit of fried onions, I think, sprinkled on top that I just ate around (just not for me). Cheese curds were still hot and fresh with marinara and a BBQ sauce I added. Leftovers fed me lunch the next day. It was one of those meals where I was ful but wanted to keep eating, it was so delicious.

The service seemed friendly overall, but there were moments that said otherwise. When a glass of water was spilled right in front of the server, she didn't offer any extra napkins or help clean the table. My pasta was worse than Domino's. I didn't even take it to go -- it was completely bland, and the shrimp were tough. My aunt ordered fish with vegetables, and the carrots were clearly burnt. At first, I thought maybe it was some kind of preparation style I didn't understand, but no -- they were simply burnt. Honestly, it's especially disappointing because I had recommended this place to my friends before. I live a few hours away and came here partly for good food, but even being very hungry after the long wait didn't make the meal any better. The oysters were also flavorless. On top of that, I didn't feel well after dinner and had stomach pain. I can't say for sure it was caused by the food, but it definitely added to the negative experience.

We loved their hot sauce selection and ended up buying two bottles to bring home. Husband had the poke bowl and Alabama Slammer. He loved his selection and said it was delicious. Kiddo had the pulled pork sandwich and also loved it. I had the fish tacos. They were tasty. My only complaint is the fish strips were more breading than fish but otherwise they were good. Flavorful sauce which brought it all together. Southern sweet tea was brewed fresh and sweetened perfectly.

Not to mention, this bbq is nothing to rave about. The mac and cheese tasted like the white cheddar pastaroni you can get at the store for $1. Wasn't expecting true Southern BBQ... but wow.. I might as well buy a TV dinner over coming here and save my money. Not pictured, my mom got the nachos and they were the smallest serving size. Not worth $20 in the slightest. They were drizzled with too much bbq sauce so they were incredibly soggy and also cold. To make things worse, the woman serving us was the farthest from offering warm hospitality. I asked for utensils and some pepper for my chowder, and her first reply was "it's gonna be awhile" as she acted the most inconvenienced. We basically paid $40 to utilize the undercover outdoor space (because we had a dog) during a little rainstorm. That's the ONLY nice thing this spot has to offer. There aren't many food options in Westport, but I imagine ANY other spot is far better than anything Aloha has to offer!!
