My boyfriend and I had no right having as much fun as we did at the Westport Aquarium! We walked in, looking to kill time, and we're greeted enthusiastically by Mark, the owner and head of household. We talked for ages, he shared with us his passion for wildlife, gave us background information on nearly everything in the aquarium, and set us up for a fun little exploratory venture. After we got our little cup of shrimp, we were off - we fed the fish and the ducks, read every little piece of information available, and checked in with Mark anytime we wanted to learn a little more. You could be in and out of here in a matter of minutes, but we took our time and enjoyed this quaint, local, and loved aquarium for what it is. read more

We were so excited to help support this little aquarium and see their displays . We were so horrified and sad to see the conditions the animals were living in. The water was so dirty you could literally see the particles floating like the filters have never been cleaned . Some of the fish were obviously sick with cloudy eyes . They were gasping for oxygen in these disgusting tanks . Lots of rotten food on the bottom . Not sure if the sucker fish in one tank was dead or had been sitting there for days covered in a thick layer of sludge . The duck exhibit was just as sad . Pool was filthy and I understand ducks get in their drinking water and make a mess but it was noon and the water looked like it hadn't been changed in weeks. It was just so depressing walking out of there . I don't understand how the staff could just sit around and not pay attention to the conditions these animals were living in . I feel like instead of having all the staff on payroll at the same time they could use some of the funds they raise to take care of those fish . We will come back of course to support this small business but we really hope some changes are made . Would probably draw in more people as well . read more

This place was an utter disappointment. For $7 a person to get in and see the filthy displays with what looked to be dead fish and then the poor filthy feces covered ducks I felt like it was a giant waste of my time and money. It smelled AWFUL and the animals looked sick. PETA should come in and shut y'all down. read more

Admittedly kind of small, but lots of fun, the ladies that worked there made it a really enjoyable experience. Giving us lots of personal attention and activities for the whole family. There are definitely better aquarium in terms of what they have, but the experience and welcoming atmosphere makes up for it. read more

I think it's great that they have this small, but fun and affordable little aquarium to visit... Went there on a Saturday (guess they are only open Sat & Sun) and the owner gave us a little tour of the place... It's "old school" and has a warm, friendly vibe-- I even brought my doggie in and that was OK... nice.......... Guess it's been around since the 1950's and the respect and knowledge they have for marine life is obvious... I think this is a labor of love for sure... Thanks for keeping this going, and I loved feeding the ducks!! read more

This is a very small aquarium filled with local fish and a few ducks. It is pretty cheap to enter witch is good because it's not worth much. They give you a little cup filled with shrimp for the fish. The kids really enjoying feeding the fish. It's kinda wet and musty inside but I honestly wasn't expecting anything else from looking in. There are some skeletons that they will give you the history and stories that go with each one. Overall my kids enjoyed it a lot and I am sure we may visit again. read more

Very kid and dog friendly, fun for the whole family! We stopped over spring break and were able to see the big whale skeleton! They are open Saturday 11AM-4PM and Sunday 11AM-4PM. We love the Aquarium and will come back again! There is a sign on the door saying they are dog friendly, nice to see! In 2014 we brought our summer school students on the last field trip of the year to Westport; each child was able to give their oral repot on location. The staff had been very helpful in getting us list of all their animals! Some of our students had never been to the beach! They have fun activities for kids too! Don't forget to check out Granny Hazel's Candy & Gift Shop, just around the corner, they have many items for the whole family. If you have beach wildlife loving children (or adults like us), they will love the interaction with the creatures here! read more

This is a small aquarium, don't expect much. There are a number of different tanks with a variety of local fish. They do have a couple exhibits they're putting together that are interesting but also viewable from the front lobby. The kids running it were friendly. They seemed new but were good at talking to people including my 11 year old. They had a sink with soapy water set up for kids to play with. My daughter probably liked that better than the fish. She was making big bubbles and had a blast with them. There are also two tanks set up to touch sea life. The hours are 11 to 4 daily. They didn't have any posted. We were in town for a bit and I brought the toddler here. Is this a world class facility for exotic tropical fish- no. Is this an activity you do can with the kiddo in the rain- YES! Yes, they give you greens for the ducks and shrimp for the fish- you toss the fish over the tank and the fish go crazy for it. (also the duck like the shrimp too). They have activities for the kids, coloring and touching starfish. again, it might be great for the younger kids and it's not the most amazing place but consider the locality factor, they have fish that we see in our waters, in our food- it's important to learn about our fish, not just the nemo's and dori's of the water. read more

Stopped quickly in Westport and SO glad I found this place! Very fair admission price and the staff at the front desk were super friendly and informative, lots of amazing specimens and you can actually feed the fish! Makes them very friendly and eager to come out to say hi so you get a great look, also some lovely ducks ("the girls") outside you can feed who come say hi! It's not a very large aquarium but for what you pay and all the cool stuff they have in the space it's definitely worth it, an awesome experience and highly recommended! read more

We love this pace. We come almost every year to Westport just to see how the aquarium is doing. They also have ducks. (Full disclosure, my husband is a marine biologist by training and enjoys getting the nitty gritty details from the owner/staff who are always super knowledgeable). read more

I wanted to enjoy our family outing here but came away depressed. The tanks are filthy and the animals appear to be suffering. We came here years ago and it was the same situation. I was hoping it was temporary but apparently not. I hope something will be done to improve the inhumane living conditions. read more

Extremely sad and absolutely horrified at the condition of this place. You can barely see the fish. The tanks look as if they have never been cleaned. The pool where the seals use to be is so filthy, the Ducks are miserable and will most likely die a painful death, as the pool is fed through a pipe leading to the harbor and it looks as if the last time it was pressure washed was when the seals were there some 16 yrs ago. There's no fresh water for these ducks. The water in the bowl is slimy and brown. The ducks are stressed and dirty. The owners come off as environmentalists, yet can't even take care of a few animals. We left bummed out because it really used to be a fun place to bring the kids. Kind if ruined our day. All it did was make them sad. read more

This aquarium is with a few dirty, murky fish tanks with hardly anything in them and one very tiny-ass pool for a dolphin that anyone could feed and it was getting terribly overfed with uneaten fish all over the pool. Those poor animals don't deserve to be in such a horrible captivity just so people could pay to see this sadness. read more

Walked away feeling depressed and disgusted. I am appalled at the condition these living creatures have been reduced to. The tanks are horrendous, every single animal is swimming and breathing in their own filth (algae, feces, etc.). The place was dirty everywhere, animals were hurt (there was a fish in the shark tank with a big bite out of it, and wasn't doing so well). The ducks' water looks like it hasn't been changed in years and the ducks looked so stressed and upset. This place really broke my heart and I hope something is done about it soon because these animals are clearly suffering. Unacceptable. read more

Quaint little place. Nice small kid activity area. We didn't actually see the different little aquariums. We stopped in for a quick look through. My daughter was entertained with the water colors and yarn with beads. They have a nice book selection. I chatted with the young man about the town and how it looks so much nicer. Can't rate the mini aquarium since we didn't pay to go see it. Nice people that work there. read more

This was an incredibly depressing experience. The fish actually looks sad, if that's possible. The young man working out front was friendly, and they gave us cooked baby shrimp to feed one of the tanks, which was nice. It was cold and damp and dark, with small puddles of water on the ground where you have to walk. I felt a little sick to my stomach when we left; I can't believe they charge people to come through. It's disappoint because Westport needs a nice little aquarium. This place needs to close. read more

This was by far one of the coolest aquariums that I have seen and been to. not only are the owners super knowledgeable and friendly, they also care about the fish and wildlife! We come to westport once a year and we will be visiting this place every time from now on! You get to feed the fish and they are very interactive! They have ducks you can feed as well! My family loves this place. I visit every year because their exhibits change regularly. Best part is that interactivity and touching is encouraged, and the passionate and knowledgeable staff never cease to educate. I learn something new every time. This place is phenomenal, and worth twice the price for admission. It's no major-city aquarium, but for $5.50 we saw a ton of native fishes, eels, and other ocean creatures. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Westport, and I'll definitely try to bring family along next time they visit! read more

For $2 admission this place was awesome! After reading previous negative reviews in yelp, I didn't have any interest in this place. But a nearby shop owner told us that the aquarium recently changed owners and underwent renovations. The place exhibits local species of marine life including a beautiful octopus who seemed to love attention. A couple of wolf eels too, which are one of my favorites. There are about 20 big tanks and shrimp are provided to feed to the fish. The owner was very kind as well. As a fisheries major at UW I definitely recommend checking this place out. read more

We went to Westport for Mothers Day Weekend with our Daughter and Her family, We thought our Grand daughter would love the aquarium but boy what a disappointment! Not sure what the first review on this site was talking about but our family was almost in tears when we left! Almost asked for the 30 dollars back it cost me to get in!! The Tanks were so dirty you couldn't see the fish! The poor wolf eel was just swimming in circles in a tank that was way to small! I understand sometimes money is short but good lord how much can it cost to drain the water out of the duck pond and put some clean water in there!! They were swimming in scum!! the conditions were horrid!! If they can't do a better job they need to close this place it was heartbreaking we talked about it all day!!! sad sad read more
