Then I found Turkey Hill Ice cream Experience only 30min away from Lancaster, and decided to visit. We bought the double scoop experience (comes with ice cream test lab) and obviously that was the highlight of the place! The test lab is about 45min experience and the whole thing with self-guided tour takes about 1hr 30min to 2 hours depending how crowded it is. The visit was fun and of course my 5-year-old daughter had a great time eating tons of ice cream!

Liitz has Amish and Mennonite neighbors, but it was the Moravian's who settled in Lititz in the mid 1700's. Today you are entering God's country where everything is gentle and pristine, passing acres of well maintained farmland, hearing the sounds of horses hooves clattering on the tiny streets until you reach the bosom of mother nature. The town folks are so friendly, everyone takes the time to smile and say hello and it is a dog friendly town which many visitors take advantage of. Outside of the visitors center you will find the largest Rolex clock I have ever seen ( and I have been to Rolex in Switzerland ), the clock was donated on the 250th anniversary of Lititz. Benches are everywhere and made out of recycled milk cartons. They have the oldest commercial pretzel factory in America, Wilber's Chocolate factory, woman are outside of their homes watering their flower boxes and sweeping the sidewalks. It's quaint, I love it and I wish there were more towns like it. The small town is speckled with gourmet shops where you can buy exotic foods, many antique stores and ice cream parlors, but they are all nestled inside of very old and well maintained buildings, which are basically set up like row homes. The Lititz Museum and Johannes Mueller House are a big part of the Lititz Foundation holding relics from the first inhabitants of the town of Lititz. My husband and brother in law chose to pass on visiting these two "homes" which had rooms filled with antiques, the most gorgeous inlaid grandfather's clocks and were set up to show how they lived when they settled here. Old finds prove this land was once inhabited by the native Indians. There is a small charge to tour the Mueller house and it is free to tour the museum, although they do have a donation jug along with free literature on the history of this town. The Sutter Room, dedicated to General John Sutter, founder of Sacramento, California, a resident of Lititz from 1871 to 1880, is furnished with items from his home. Other rooms throughout the museum offer items seen nowhere else in the world. The town of Lititz has the oldest all girls college-preparatory school, Linden Hall, was founded in 1746 and is still recognized as one of the nations top boarding schools. Stroll through Lititz Spring Park, walking along the canal that runs through the center of it, marveling at the beautiful lush gardens and don't forget to feed the fat ducks, you never know whom it may be. I can not express in words my love for Lititz, pristine, quaint, friendly and like stepping back in time. It's the home town everyone wishes was theirs.

Lititz Moravian looks like a museum from the road, in fact - most people think that it is a museum. But if you venture inside, you'll find a bustling, mission working, community loving family. Moravian is similar to lutheran, believe Jesus to be God's son, died for our sins and saves us all. They love unconditionally, and have traditions that define them but do not break them. They're also Easter people, at 2am on Easter morning, the trombone choir walks around town playing loudly to announce that Christ has risen! I no longer live down the block from Lititz Moravian, but they will always be in my heart. Look them up, and if you happen to be in lititz, certainly stop by. In essentials, unity; in nonessentials, liberty; and in all things love.

I was in Lancaster PA for Labor Day weekend and looking for something to do when I came across…read morehelicopter rides at DCH. it was Saturday, but we're lucky enough to book a 30 minute ride around noon. We went up with pilot Adam. He was great, and made mine and my friends first helicopter ride an awesome experience. he explained everything to us, showed us around the helicopter, and made sure we understood his instruction. once in the air he pointed out the various sights in and around Lancaster PA. the ride was so smooth! at some points I forgot I was in a helicopter!! afterwards he showed us around the hangar and the old Vietnam war plane the pilots are restoring. all in all it was a great experience and I cannot wait for my next helicopter ride. We had the privilege of joining Bill and Bonnie on one of their horse-drawn carriage rides around…read morethe farm. Their hospitality leading up to the ride was fantastic, the weather was a bit 'iffy' so we ended up pushing back to later in the afternoon. It was still a bit cold and overcast when we arrived and we ended up being the only couple to join them. Blankets were in the carriage waiting for us and we were greeted as soon as we pulled up, the ride was enjoyable and informative... we learned about the farm and a bit about the battle, both Bill and Bonnie were super friendly and it was a pleasure to meet them! After the ride was over we had the opportunity to go back to the barn and meet all the horses. We learned more about each of them and got to feed them carrots, absolutely worth the price and a ride we would definitely do again, hopefully under better weather next time!
