The sales guys are great, however they fumble the ball VERY badly after the sale! Their service department just plain sucks.

Rock Garage

I've been a mechanic for over 30 years, working on everything from basic maintenance to full engine…read morerebuilds and classic car restorations. I've used Rock Garage for years for simple jobs when I didn't have the time or equipment to do it myself. While their poor communication and slow turnaround have always been frustrating, I stuck with them under the assumption they were honest. Unfortunately, I've come to realize that's not the case, and I can no longer recommend their services. Recently, I took an SUV to them to replace the radiator and fuel pump, providing most of the parts myself. I know the fair cost of parts and labor for these tasks, yet their estimate came in hundreds of dollars higher than expected. I reluctantly agreed just to get it done. When I got the car back, there was a loud noise from the fan belts they had disturbed. Rather than complain, I fixed it myself. A week later, I brought a different SUV for routine drivetrain maintenance--oil changes for the front and rear differentials, transfer case, and transmission. Days passed with no updates, so I called. They claimed to have found a large retainer ring in the transmission oil pan--a part that couldn't logically have made its way there based on the design of this transmission. Dodge models occasionally have issues like this, but my SUV was low-mileage, and this transmission model is known to last 300k+ miles. I told them to complete the work. When I picked up the vehicle, they insisted I pay in cash, claiming I shouldn't take the car out of town because of what they "found." After paying an excessive price for relatively simple work, I discovered their work was poorly done. Both the transmission pan and front differential cover were leaking fluid. Upon inspection, I found bolts inconsistently torqued and an excessive amount of sealant on both pans. Pressed for time before a family trip, I had to take the car to another shop. They discovered the transmission pan had been damaged from being overtightened with an impact gun, causing the seal to fail. The second shop was quick, professional, and priced exactly as I expected. Lastly, I've also had issues with their inspection services. They've lost their license to perform state inspections multiple times and have charged me $40-$50 with excuses about needing to recoup fines from the state. Unfortunately, this pattern of overcharging, subpar work, and questionable practices has made it impossible for me to recommend Rock Garage. I suggest avoiding this shop altogether.

My daughter had repairs done on my car at Rock Garage and I was very pleased with their work. I…read morebought front brake pads that still need to be installed per the contract and plan to get that done soon. Juanita is a great mechanic.

Don't use Shields Auto Repair and Sales! Took my car up to get the water pump replaced. Noticed on…read morethe bill that they also changed the thermostat without asking. I advised them that the thermostat was recently replaced and was told "oh, well I always change them when I do a water pump" Spoke to the mechanic on the phone about the over $100 charge to do the water pump that wasn't cleared by me prior to the service and he said that he should have changed ball joints on the car that didn't need to be changed. His wife called me back and apologized and told me to come up and they would refund $100 on the thermostat to make things better. I agreed and went up there today. When I arrived the wife wasn't there and the mechanic asked where my car was. I told him that I don't drive it everyday and he plopped a random thermostat on the table and asked how he was supposed to put my old one back in without the vehicle there so he could get his money back on the new one ($14 part that is now used)... I'm sorry but after being threatened that he would have put on parts that the vehicle didn't need there is no way I would trust you to touch my vehicle again. Edit because I can't reply to the comment from the owner: Never once did I see my car on the rack. And yes he did threaten me over the phone and that's when you called me back to try and make it right. I have the call logs. He literally said "I should have replaced the ball joints that it didn't need" then you told me to come by today to pick up the $100 to make it right. You wasn't there when he asked where my car was and tossed some random thermostat on the table saying he needed the car to put this back in to get his money back. There is no way I'm trusting him to touch my vehicle after the threats.
