Dr. Lopez is an absolute gem of a pediatrician. We recently switched to Western Wake Peds after time and time again hearing great reviews of the practice. Our hope in moving practices was to be in a practice that felt neurodivergent affirming -- not just tolerant. We were met with kindness and grace at our first appointment with our fourth child, a newborn baby. We came with challenges and feared a difficult visit. Dr. Lopez listened intently, asked insightful questions and provided thorough advice and guidance. Dr Lopez's follow up on a particular visit topic was timely and persistent--so appreciated as a sometimes overwhelmed mom of four! We decided to switch the older kids, including our neurodivergent child, into the practice after our first visit. I have since read Dr. Lopez's background and am delighted to see the wonderful professional experience he has as well as his presence as an educator at UNC. His teaching and volunteer roles in the community indicate to me that he is someone who is continually exposed to new and emerging information rather than remaining complacent with initial med school teachings. He has been refreshingly willing to talk to and treat us like we are collaborative members of our child's healthcare needs. We have found a collaborative and empowering approach to be an incredibly valuable trait for a physician to have -- particularly as parents of a neurodivergent child. I highly recommend Dr. Lopez to any family who values an active and educated role in their child's healthcare. Accolades and experience aside--Dr. Lopez was diligent to connect with my neurodivergent child who, after a few bad years of illnesses and procedures, often experiences anxiety in medical offices. He is kind, silly and disarming in his bedside manner with my children. A visit once began with my child fearfully hiding behind me and ended with my child delivering a big joyous hug for Dr. Lopez. Super disappointed in this place. We just had a baby last September, our first one. At first, we really liked it here because of the lactation consultant. She is still wonderful. Unfortunately, we feel like every time we came with an issue, it was pretty overlooked and not much medical advice was given to us. We were better off googling the symptoms or asking our nurse friends. There were several nurses who judged the way I was feeding my son during the last two appointments. The front desk lady let me know that I would be charged even though I called as soon as I got out of the Dr office and found out I was sick/contagious and couldn't bring my son into his appointment in the late afternoon. We would drive 35 min to go here and feel like unfortunately, it was not worth our drive. We found a new office that we like much better who truly listens to our concerns and does not charge anything if you are a sick, full-time working mother who is already struggling to get out of work and doing the best she can. Again, we loved the lactation consultant, and there was a young female doctor with brown hair who we also enjoyed- she was very gentle with our son. I wish they went somewhere else. As far as the other doctors & nurses- they didn't want to hear any concerns we had. And the one front desk lady is not pleasant over the phone at all. She sounds like she does not enjoy her job... but the other front desk ladies are typically nice. She didn't even try to explain anything to me when I didn't understand the charge and then she sounded surprised when I told her we were switching practices. Overall, 3/5 stars I guess but only because of the lactation consultant and the one dr we thought actually listened to us. We did not feel a connection with any of the other staff at all. read more

Dr Tarasidis is a phenomenal pediatrician. She takes the time to listen to her patients and their families and understands our concerns and answers all of our questions. She is thoughtful and meticulous when trying to figure out an issue and she seems very current on treatments and best practices! She makes good recommendations and caught even a couple things already that we hadn't noticed ourselves. Dr Tarasidis always follows up quickly whenever there's a lab or test result, even on the weekends or after hours. She is extremely good with kids and keeps them engaged and entertained. We've been going to western wake pediatrics for 2 years. Every doctor, nurse, and nurse practitioner we've seen has been wonderful. Over the last month we've been 3 times for different sicknesses. Each time my child has been irritable, often screaming (he's a toddler), and not easy to get vitals on. Each time we've had various nurses and doctors each reacting the same way - calm, open to trying different ways to get vitals on a wiggly, loud toddler, and positive. About a year ago we moved further away from the office but because of how amazing they are we have not once visited anywhere else. Here today for our 4 year old check up. I cannot believe it has been 2 years since Dr. Tabrizi recommended having Katies speech evaluated. Dr Tabrizi wrote us a consult for Capitol City Speech. We knew Katie was delayed but had no idea she had a major speech disability. We where so fortunate that Dr. Tabrizi agreed and thought it was in Katie's best interest to attack her speech at such a young age. Two years later she is no longer non verbal and for a child with CAS that is not an feat. I have mixed feelings about Western Wake Pediatrics as a whole. Let me start with the positive: Dr.Lopez and the nurse who works with him (my apologies, the name has slipped my mind), as well as the lactation consultant (Bonny), are all amazing! I don't say this lightly, as my husband and I have bounced around from several pediatrician's and pediatric offices to find the right fit. Dr. Lopez is professional, smart, and very good at what he does. He works as a team with families, always pushing for a win-win situation. His bedside manner with children is great; he's high energy, goofy, and really gets down on the child's level. I highly recommend him, along with the other staff I mentioned. If it were not for Dr.Lopez and the lactation consultant Bonny, our child would not be a patient here. The waiting room is boring for children (my toddler's favorite activity is flushing the toilet in the bathroom), and most of the toys/play equipment are broken. The nurse's hotline for quick questions feels impossible and frustrating. Wait times are long (30 minutes to an hour on average), due to the practice not allowing enough time per appointment, as well as cramming appointments in like sardines (let the doctors have enough time to do their jobs well, with the care and attention all patients deserve!). The office staff are so-so. They have been a bit unthoughtful in the past, and at times, have seemed to not know how to do their jobs (I sense a lack of organization in management). But overall, have been pleasant enough. We have not interacted with all of the other pediatrician's at Western Wake Pediatrics, but the ones we have come in contact with have been a bit rude, and had poor bedside manner. Their policies on appointments for sick children are not the best, and we found them difficult to navigate. Parking is usually sufficient. In sum, while there are better managed pediatric practices in the area, you would be hard pressed to find another pediatrician as phenomenal as Dr.Lopez. read more

We waited two weeks for an appt. to see if we wanted our son to become a patient at this practice. Our appt. with Dr. Tabrizi was at 4:30 and we were on time. After waiting a half hour, they said our appt. was at 3:45 and we were late. I knew I'd made the appt. for 4:30, and played the reminder recording they sent to my phone that said 4:30.They said they were really sorry about the confusion and said we'd have to wait another 30 minutes after yet a second patient instead of honoring our time slot. That would have been one hour with a one year old. They didn't offer to get us in next so we told them we were leaving - they couldn't have cared less. This is not a professional practice. My husband left work early and they wasted over an hour of all of our time. Go elsewhere. read more
