While visually it's inviting, accessible, and bright, product placement appears haphazard at best. The worst was when I purchased supposedly frozen EnCor chicken nuggets. The new arrangement has them on a shelf where fresh meat would be, not in a freezer case. Imagine my disgust when I opened the bag to find moldy nuggets, not visible through the packaging. This western beef is definitely a major super market .the store is pretty big .and it has a major meat department section .the meat section is a walk in .you have the butcher right there on site.and you have the frozen foods in different little sections in the frozen food walk in section. I have been shopping here for years. They always seem to have deals and sales going on in their. This particular western beef has been in the neighborhood for a few decades. It has been a go to shopping store for a lot of people on the jamaica queens side. St albans side and the lauralton section of queens. And I know at one time they had employed quite a few guys from the neighborhood to work in the ice freezer. This supermarket has been a fixture in the community it seems like forever. This place has everything you are looking for, in large quantities or small .juices, milk ,sodas the list goes on. Very spacious store .the lines are pretty long .be aware of that .the atmosphere is not bad.and they have a parking lot also that is very accessible to get to. read more

Four stars for great sales. When I say great sales I mean AMAZING sales on literally everything. I took a trip over here while waiting for my laundry to dry (Clean Rite next door). As soon as you walk in you see sale signs. The seafood department has pretty good sales as well. The only thing I didn't like was that for such a big store I don't know why two people were at the registers. The lines were extremely long. Maybe 20 people per line. Supermarket has affordable prices when compared to Stop n Shop in the area which is why I like to shop there. However, when it comes to meats I find myself being a little wary of purchasing. The meat section smells horrible! There is a strong odor being emitted from somewhere back there, i always run in an out when purchasing milk which is kept in that section aswell. Also, the lines are usually long but they tend to move pretty quickly. I would have no issues here if I felt the meat was safe to buy but that smell makes me feel like there are some unsanitary conditions that need to be tended to. read more

I come here for very basic veggies or herbs when I'm close by or when I really want pumpkin. I don't like their bakery dept, bread should only consist of 5 or so ingredients, not 15. What's the point of having a bakery in a supermarket, if it's not really freshly made with better ingredients then the other packaged ones... Once I saw mold in one of their packages of Hawaiian bread, also full of chemicals. I do come for their long grain rice. It's usually on sale, really cheap.. $5-8 for 20lbs, but I can barely find enough items to qualify, which actually is a plus. It's allowed us to lower our rice intake. Asians and Hispanics love rice, but it's not healthy. They also sell organic tortilla chips that are great, so cheap. I don't like their meat and technically that's what they're known for. They sell a lot of generic items which I will not try. Like I said I mostly come here for just a couple of items. They carry a lot of processed food. The guy on the loudspeaker seems to be having a lot of fun or he's just naturally full of energy.... Regardless he's quite entertaining. read more

This location in Springfield gardens queens is disgusting. Customer service is the absolute worst and they have very very poor management. This location have been here for many years and still haven't figured out how to service customers or move the lines quickly. A lot of the box foods are expired or close to expiration. I have had several bad experiences here. I don't thinks it's fair to our neighborhood that this location is filthy and provide out dated items. The health department need to pay them a visit for the public's safety. Also do not buy chicken from the the meat department. I think it's old or from a foreign country. It taste very unnatural. My mother continues to go because it's her local store but I really force her to visit the Elmont location. Better service from the employees and a much cleaner store. Although Mgmt sucks there too. First off this stores location is Springfield Gardens ( look it up! ) This is my old neighborhood where I grew up. Out of the two others I had been to, this store is my favorite. This western beef is ALWAYS crowded regardless of the time of day you come to shop. However this is good because food is always fresh yet bad with long lines. I went from shopping multiple times per week to NEVER again, there is no amount of money a person can save to be disrespected. As I compared prices, cashier told me to HURRY up because there were lines (there are always lines) then she refused to service me and walked off in the middle of the transaction. Thanks AMEENA for being soooo unprofessional. I've witnessed a worker attempt to "beat his ass" referring to a customers. This location has amazing deals but it needs to be visited by UNDERCOVER BOSS. If you don't like your job get a new one, otherwise customers will explore other options ie. Bought ground beef from this store on May 3rd 2013 took it out of the fridge on May 5 to cook, the meet smelled sour and it was completely brown. I took it back to the store and they told me that you have to return it within 24hrs, this is unacceptable. I will never buy meat from them again. read more
