How NOT to run a discount supermarket outlet.
I understand Junior's is Western Beef's discount operation and has far less selection. That's okay. What's NOT okay is the way they choose to do business.
The selection was okay for what it is and the prices are really good.
They have the customer repack their items into their cart of basket after paying for it instead of having the cashier bag it. BIG MISTAKE. A cashier can usually bag items far faster than a customer can repack a shopping cart to move it over to the self bagging area. So the lines were horrendous while the cashier could do nothing as they waited for the previous customer to remove their items and make way for the next customer's items to be rung up.
Junior's philosophy sounds like they where thought up by Western Beef's president's idiot brother in law that he had to hire to keep peace in the family. If that's the case, I'd like to point out this is NYC, and getting someone whacked is surprisingly affordable here. read more
