Rude cashier (J. Darina) After a long day (fighting cancer, having two sons and a wife dealing with medical issues, and my main business partner's relative was found dead this week, natural causes.) But in life, I don't let my problems impact my treatment of fellow humans. Everyone deserves honor and respect when they are an honorable person. Today the disrespect, cursing, and aggression of J. Darina at Western Beef was shocking and isn't acceptable. Situation: I went to Western Beef in the Bronx on 301 Morris Ave. (I had my video recorder on and have the evidence. It's unfortunate that, living in NYC, we have to record our interactions; however, NYC, sadly, has very aggressive people who are often unprofessional to customers, etc. It's amazing how, in life, a simple shopping trip that should have ended with a simple apology ended up becoming a serious issue that requires extensive text to explain! === At this Western Beef location, their service is typically very professional, the place is clean, and prices are great. Today, there was a disaster named J. Darina/female cashier). At approximately 9:45 pm (it's all on camera), I approached her register (She didn't seem happy (facial expressions and body language are approximately 80% of communication). I politely asked her, "Miss, please price check this for me." I don't recall a verbal response, but she definitely scanned the item and pushed it to the end of the line, where items go that are being purchased. This was inappropriate because I didn't know the price. I asked her for the price, and she eventually said it. Next, I my card was not working on the machine (the machine, I later learned, was not working properly), so she came over aggressively to put the card through the machine. But I again noticed her aggression, so I politely asked, "Miss, are you okay? Are you having a bad day?" She didn't respond verbally. (Before things got to this point, another worker / manager should have intercepted.) I was very annoyed and said, "Miss, I have cancer, my sons and wife have issues, etc., and I don't act rude to customers. What are you dealing with?" Eventually, she put her hands up, rather close to my face, in a disrespectful way. I asked her, "What the hell you your hand at me like that for? I have done nothing wrong; you're the one who's been rude." (Before things got to this point, another worker / manager should have intercepted.) Another cashier, a taller lady, not sure of her name, came over, and the two of them began communicating. The other cashier smiled at J. Darina, but the cashier proceeded to be more professional. But the rude J. Darina started to walk off and was being rude. (Before things got to this point, another worker / manager should have intercepted.) I walked behind her, telling her how damn rude she was. She cursed me out but under her breath. A tall man came over, and I later learned he was the manager (tall man). He was cordial and polite about the situation and surprised when I indicated that J. Darina had cursed me out. He and I also talked, and I told him that none of us knows who anyone else is. People from all ends of the peace, aggression, ignorance, and intellectual spectrum so treat everyone with honor, dignity, and professionalism. I told him that had she been a male, my response to the rudeness would have been much more aggressive, especially when she put her hands up aggressively and disrespectfully. -- Suggestions: a) Fire J. Darina, or you send the message to staff that her behavior and climate are acceptable, and my people won't shop at that location (or possibly Western Beef franchise. Why spend where the policies allow such aggression, rudeness, unprofessionalism.) b) Once a worker is rude to a customer, don't allow the matter to continue. Pull the worker from that station/location and put someone who is more professional in that position. c) Ensure that workers have "de-escalation" training and aren't antagonizing, arguing with, putting hands at, or cursing out customers. That's not for a grocery store; sadly, that should be, but it is for a prison or mental institution. Most customers are people working hard to make a better life and go grocery shopping for food, etc. Not to argue, and be disrespected or harassed at the store they are visiting. Some hireees should not have passed Human Resources scrutiny. And if they did slip through (possibly they were very cordial and professional during the hiring process, once their true colors are exposed, they definitely are not a good match for a franchise that seeks to promote positive attributes, professionalism (and not ignorant, rude, aggressive, violent, unintelligent, behavior.) Good luck as you try to address these issues. I'll inform my church and business colleagues and family so they know about that location's potential rude staffer and look at alternative shopping options if she remains at that location!

Moldy beyond meat sausages.

This was a cultural experience, not a simple groceries shopping! The bakery area is amazing and all associates were very helpful.

I can honestly say it's one of the best places in the area! The store is always clean,…read morewell-organized, and stocked with fresh produce and quality grocery items. The staffs are friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. I really appreciate the variety of local products they offer, and the prices are fair for the quality you get. It's so convenient to have such a wonderful supermarket right in the neighborhood--definitely my go-to for all my grocery needs! I would say , please visit this amazing store once .

This is a 1.5 star review generously being rounded up to 2…read more I haven't been to this Food Bazaar in years for two reasons. First mainly because there are so many other places I can go that are close to where I live or near where I work with better prices and fresh products and second because on my last visit, my mom purchased turkey wings and they were freezer burned and they gave her a huge problem returning them at that time. Fast forward to my recent visit, a friend of mine was going and I decided to accompany her and also check out the cereal prices while there. It looks like they have some better items on display and more variety than before so that's good. That is the reason for earning 1.5 stars. The reason for losing four is because when going to check out we went to self checkout and the machine says you can enter your phone number. My friend never signed up so the person there said she can sign up and then use the app. I thought my mom had already signed up and I entered the telephone number. For some reason it wasn't working. So one lady came over and she spoke very little English but then called for the other lady in Spanish. The other lady came over and she knew some English but had trouble explaining. Now my Spanish isn't the best but I understand well. It's speaking that I struggle with. Because I was confused with why the number wasn't working and trying to figure out how to relay that to her, she tells the other cashier three registers over and in front of several customers that I have an attitude which was totally inaccurate and inappropriate. I then realized despite how badI may feel my Spanish is, it was time for code switching and pulled my Spanish out and asked her if she's saying that I need to have the app AND I need to also have the telephone number in order to get the savings?? THE LOOK ON HER FACE WHEN SHE REALIZED I UNDERSTOOD HER!!! She then proceeded to explain (in Spanish) that yes both the app and the telephone number is needed for the savings, etc. I didn't call her out on it and No apology was ever offered either. But hopefully she now knows not to judge or talk about customers especially right in front of them assuming they won't be able to comprehend. I'm not going to take away from the very few other positives the store has but I definitely won't be returning and unless having the app and fully ready to let your bilingual talents show if and when in need of assistance, I'd be wary of shopping here.
