I travel a lot and have been to many markets and Supermarkets all over the world but guess what? I love our Bonavita Key Food the best! Especially since they remodeled the WHOLE STORE! I've been shopping there for over 20 years and have always found it well stocked with many brands and unusual items as well. I love how clean and brightly lit the store is and now with bigger isles! The produce section is always fresh, beautiful and big! Now I have many favorite Delis and Deli departments in the Bronx for different items. But I have to say that their Deli is full of stunning, delicious in house made salads, Boar Head, Land o Lakes and other top brands of cold cuts, knishes, and many hot prepared dishes! When I can't make my own, this is my "go to place" for meatballs! Best meatballs in a nice sauce! Their in house butcher are wonderful and will make your meat cut to order! Great quality meat which stretches the back and side of store! They have organic, gluten free, ethnic brands, and comparable prices for the area. It never fails, I go in for a couple of items and because of their weekly sales items which are numerous and great deals, I walk out with bags of items! I also love that they have their own parking lot with eco-friendly solar lighting! The whole staff is wonderful making sure all customers are happy with a big staff covering every department to help you, an abundance of cashiers to make your line wait non existent most of the time and great managers that make their store run like a well oiled machine! Thank you to the owners Ralph Bonavita and Geffrey O"Keeffe for keeping their store 5 Star for our neighborhood!

Bona Vita Key Food! "The Good Life" says Kanye. The good: The produce is good. The supermarket is clean. I rarely have to wait long for checking out. I went yesterday afternoon at 6 PM and they were 8 empty cashiers, waiting for work. Nice. The bad: Tomatoes always don't last long (mushy) but that's a problem everywhere. I am not sure what the Key Food shopper's card benefits are. There's no cold beer. I asked the manager and he told me it was the prevent from the stock boys from drinking it in the back. Quality. The ugly: You're in your car on Westchester Avenue. You're wondering why you aren't moving. Guess what? It's often caused by a f-cking gridlock from the Key Food parking lot and from Sands Place. Still the best option in my hood. IFHTP 3+

Bought it on 09/29/17 And it's 4 days old sitting there for sale.

Bonavita has the best meats, great produce and dairy and they always have plenty of the sale items available.

The staffs are friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. I really appreciate the variety of local products they offer, and the prices are fair for the quality you get. It's so convenient to have such a wonderful supermarket right in the neighborhood--definitely my go-to for all my grocery needs! I would say , please visit this amazing store once .

First mainly because there are so many other places I can go that are close to where I live or near where I work with better prices and fresh products and second because on my last visit, my mom purchased turkey wings and they were freezer burned and they gave her a huge problem returning them at that time. Fast forward to my recent visit, a friend of mine was going and I decided to accompany her and also check out the cereal prices while there. It looks like they have some better items on display and more variety than before so that's good. That is the reason for earning 1.5 stars. The reason for losing four is because when going to check out we went to self checkout and the machine says you can enter your phone number. My friend never signed up so the person there said she can sign up and then use the app. I thought my mom had already signed up and I entered the telephone number. For some reason it wasn't working. So one lady came over and she spoke very little English but then called for the other lady in Spanish. The other lady came over and she knew some English but had trouble explaining. Now my Spanish isn't the best but I understand well. It's speaking that I struggle with. Because I was confused with why the number wasn't working and trying to figure out how to relay that to her, she tells the other cashier three registers over and in front of several customers that I have an attitude which was totally inaccurate and inappropriate. I then realized despite how badI may feel my Spanish is, it was time for code switching and pulled my Spanish out and asked her if she's saying that I need to have the app AND I need to also have the telephone number in order to get the savings?? THE LOOK ON HER FACE WHEN SHE REALIZED I UNDERSTOOD HER!!! She then proceeded to explain (in Spanish) that yes both the app and the telephone number is needed for the savings, etc. I didn't call her out on it and No apology was ever offered either. But hopefully she now knows not to judge or talk about customers especially right in front of them assuming they won't be able to comprehend. I'm not going to take away from the very few other positives the store has but I definitely won't be returning and unless having the app and fully ready to let your bilingual talents show if and when in need of assistance, I'd be wary of shopping here.

They also have a lot of food necessities and household items. Their flower section is inexpensive and not bad at all - a good place if you want to pick up some everyday flowers for your lady or mom. They'll make fresh bouquets of roses for you if you can find someone. They've always had the 2 registers in the middle of the store which caused 2 lines forming. Now, the cashiers are in the corner and the bright customers can never figure out how to form a line or two. People are all over the place, blocking aisles, and cutting each other off.

Now, I'm sure commercial landlords are used to tenants asking them to rearrange window and door placements on the street front, but to pull down the front wall entirely? I don't think I've ever seen that before. So... needless to say, this place never closes! There's always a really huge selection of fruits and vegetables out front (hence the name of the store, I think) and they're all really reasonably priced, if not downright cheap. Other than that, it's just a really large bodega with an unusual selection of herbs and chilis and other such things I don't recognize from my conservative suburban upbringing. :) Mostly I just enjoy coming here to make jokes about not being unemployed in Greenland. But that just goes to show I've seen The Princess Bride far too many times.
