This is a Super Stop & Shop and is larger than the typical Stop & Shop. This resembles a suburban…read moregrocer more than a grocery store one finds elsewhere in NYC. The aisles are wider and no one is on top of each other or bumping into one another as one finds typically in the rest of NYC. This is no basement grocer, but the front of the store is not all glass windows facing the parking lot, so it does not benefit from natural light as one might expect. Some things are not in the abundance one would expect from such a large grocer. Beer was quite limited for this size of a grocery store. However, almost everything else was in great abundance. Many items come in larger sizes than is ordinarily found in NYC. The produce looked good and it appeared all the meats were in abundance, as were the dairy and bakery products. Though they have plenty of freezer cases, I missed the fresh seafood and did not notice if they have prepared meals ready to eat. In this sense, this Super Stop & Shop may not be a modern type grocer and perhaps reflects the local market does not demand prepared meals ready to eat. This is my first visit and I may have missed some things, but the style of this grocer seems very traditional. Sale prices looked quite good and the ticket reflected the proper sales price. I asked a question for information and was properly directed. This seems like a well run grocer from my first visit. I walked around most of the store and it seems to offer what most people would want or need. I cannot vouch for whether the grocer offers specialty items or those items catering to more international tastes and cuisine. This is a very good grocery store that seems to have kept inflationary prices in check and suits most peoples' needs from my observation and experience. Perhaps the store could use a refresh. Thankfully, this grocery store has NOT limited the number of cashiers to force you to self-checkout. That is a tradition to retain. 3.7 stars!

There are sign to social distance and for the most part people did follow that. I remember getting the organic nuggets such as the one in my photo a few months back, Never have I ever expected to pay that much for chicken nuggets. Based on the price, they should have tasted like they had gold flakes to them as well. This place is generally crowded on an average week day let's say to go shopping , but you can make it work at any time especially after work. Will be visiting again but not like on an everyday basis, I kind of prefer to go to Costco for big shopping needs.

First mainly because there are so many other places I can go that are close to where I live or near where I work with better prices and fresh products and second because on my last visit, my mom purchased turkey wings and they were freezer burned and they gave her a huge problem returning them at that time. Fast forward to my recent visit, a friend of mine was going and I decided to accompany her and also check out the cereal prices while there. It looks like they have some better items on display and more variety than before so that's good. That is the reason for earning 1.5 stars. The reason for losing four is because when going to check out we went to self checkout and the machine says you can enter your phone number. My friend never signed up so the person there said she can sign up and then use the app. I thought my mom had already signed up and I entered the telephone number. For some reason it wasn't working. So one lady came over and she spoke very little English but then called for the other lady in Spanish. The other lady came over and she knew some English but had trouble explaining. Now my Spanish isn't the best but I understand well. It's speaking that I struggle with. Because I was confused with why the number wasn't working and trying to figure out how to relay that to her, she tells the other cashier three registers over and in front of several customers that I have an attitude which was totally inaccurate and inappropriate. I then realized despite how badI may feel my Spanish is, it was time for code switching and pulled my Spanish out and asked her if she's saying that I need to have the app AND I need to also have the telephone number in order to get the savings?? THE LOOK ON HER FACE WHEN SHE REALIZED I UNDERSTOOD HER!!! She then proceeded to explain (in Spanish) that yes both the app and the telephone number is needed for the savings, etc. I didn't call her out on it and No apology was ever offered either. But hopefully she now knows not to judge or talk about customers especially right in front of them assuming they won't be able to comprehend. I'm not going to take away from the very few other positives the store has but I definitely won't be returning and unless having the app and fully ready to let your bilingual talents show if and when in need of assistance, I'd be wary of shopping here.

Lidl finally opened in Bronx Terminal Market!…read more For those unfamiliar with the German Lidl chain, the world's 3rd largest food retailer, it's a cross between Aldi and Trader Joe's. The bulk of what it sells are its own private label items, yet it also has certain name brands complementing the selection. This Lidl BTM location is so much better than the Fredrick Douglass Boulevard store in Morningside (Harlem). For example, it's on one level, has adult size shopping carts that don't make you reach down to the floor, wider aisles, and what appears to be a larger selection - including items promoted at the FDB store but never in stock. They use digital price tags, plus it may be also that some items are sold there for lower every day prices than FDB. While you can find some items with better prices at BJ's in the same complex, (e.g., 3 lbs bags of Little Potato,) you don't have to be a member to shop at Lidl. In general, Lidl offers a selection that's worth checking out, especially if you load up on carbs or if you enjoy imported items. The fresh store-baked breads, pastries and pretzels as you enter are flavorful. They have nice packaged Cookes and an exceptional candy selection, with tasty imports. Highly recommend their ice creams, including yummy gelatos. [Note - Although some Lidl items are marked as organic, other foods may not be manufactured to the same standard's as Trader Joe's, i.e., no artificial flavors, artificial preservatives, MSG, genetically modified ingredients, partially hydrogenated fats, etc.] Then there's the treasure hunt experience of Lidl's Limited-time offering which can be divided into 2 groups: imported regional-themed gourmet foods, both shelf-stable and frozen, and non-food assortment. The foods are gourmet and well-priced. Located in this store's deemed "The Midl of the Lidl," the non-food limited time selection can be a super value item but will leave you scratching your head. I've found at their FDB location great buys on enamel-coated cast iron cookware and rubber boots, but not sure why they brought in specific-size metal brackets and 1990s-style computer keyboards. (Chainsaws were another odd item Lidl sold at the Manhattan store.) This BTM location seems to have more space allocated for this non-food Limited-time assortment. Keep in mind, I've found sometimes certain promoted fresh meats & seafood and other items in extremely limited supplies, including on occasion from the get-go "not in stock." (For example, the single whole Branzino on shelf at this Lidl.) Also, Lidl stores annoyingly don't price match their own nearby stores. Get the Lidl app, too, because you'll access solid deals via their loyalty program. Lidl is not a one-stop shop. Some really basic things you'll not find there, like light bulbs. That being said, there's Target upstairs, Home Depot downstairs, and BJ's plus Food Bazaar on the other side of the parking garage. It is however worth a visit to see for yourself.
