I've dealt with many auto body shops in the past, and jobs that don't involve insurance work generally get passed over as a priority. A job that is promised to take a month, turns into 18 months quickly with little communication in-between, especially with classic cars like mine. That was not Downtown Collision. They stuck to their original timeline without sacrificing the quality of work. Gabriel kept me informed on the progress of the job the whole time. Sent me photos of the progress and checked in if there were any issues that needed a decision. Can't say enough good things about the level of honest customer service. And the level of work is impeccable. I brought in a classic car that needed the roof to be treated and painted due to rust. At every step they could've taken short cuts, but didn't. The roof came back looking immaculate. Even matched the original color perfectly. They came across some areas of rust that were too far gone to treat, and did seamless patch repair. Over the years, it had gotten pretty bad looking, including the paint on the hood peeling in several places where the metal was showing and ready to start rusting after this upcoming winter's rainy season. I sooo wanted my car painted, but everyone kept telling me it wouldn't be worth the cost! I decided to see if someone out here would simply strip and re-paint my hood, and nothing else! I knew inurance wouldn't pay for it since I had not had an accident or anything, so I had to keep my price relatively "low". I live near Cline (which I actually never knew existed til I started researching places), so I decided to drive over there and speak w/someone regarding my issue. Jessica took a look at it, asked their painter there if he'd do it and for how much. She returned w/a quote (not bad!) and I said I'd talk to hubby and get back to her. BTW. Jessica is truly a wonderful person to deal w/there! So friendly, helpful, professional, knowledgable, and has a great sense of humor! So hubby agreed, and I got the details on how long the car would be in their shop, methods of payment, etc. Made an appointment. Also worked with Sarah (another co-worker there) on the phone when Jessica was not yet in. Another very nice and helpful gal!!! So! Took the car in for the work to be done. Returned a couple of days later w/my hubby to pick it up, and found my car looking virtually "NEW"! We were shocked to say the least! I literally could have listed it for sale if I'd wanted to! It was SPOTLESS all around, my head lights had been thoroughly cleaned and were sparkling, as were my tires, windows, paint, etc... you name it! My car hadn't looked that good in over a decade! Seriously! And yes, I do get my car washed! lol. Anyway...was thrilled for sure! OH! I also had asked a small favor of them IF they had any paint left over; if they'd be willing to do a tiny touch up on the rear bumper that had been scratched and showing black, since I ran into something backing up years prior. They DID!!!! It's much better now! Can barely see the scratch anymore! yay!!! I had been putting off dealing with the scratch because the last time i had a fender bender issue and had to go through insurance with an auto body shop, I'd had a bad experience with the rental car company they used trying to pin me with a ticket that wasn't mine, and long crazy story unrelated here. I had gone back to the same auto body shop (because it appeared they did a good job and they were very nice people, rental car not really their fault). But even though, to me it looked like a smaller job, they told to me it would be another biggish job, reaching into near $5000 to repair with panels, bumper, and paint repair, where I'd need a rental car co again so i had put it off, for fear of using rental car co, plus i have a $1000 deductible (ouch). To make a long story shorter i came into Downtown auto, upon referral, and met with a very nice guy, Martin. He took a look at my scratches and actually buffed them all out on the spot! (wow!) and gave me a bid to fix my front bumper for less than my deductible so i wouldn't even need to go through the insurance and rent a car! Plus, he said it'd be done in like 2 hours. I made the appointment and can't wait to update this review further. Btw, it's a comfortable waiting area, with nice glass viewing windows to see what's going on with your ride. And if you need to make a Costco run that day? It's conveniently located right across the street!
