When you phone back at 8.30am all you get is an engaged tone. When you finally manage to get through you are told there are no more appointments left that day. So you ask how do I make an appointment to see a doctor - phone back at 8.30am tomorrow. It's Groundhog Day. It is apparently possible to make an appointment for two weeks away, by which time you are probable better or dead. I've no idea how good the doctors are as I can't see one to form an opinion.

The interior was cozy enough, but definitely needed an overhaul in regards to equipment and a sterile impression. I'm happy to say that the offices now have moved to a new location opposite the road into a very modern building, specifically designed and built for the purpose of being a practical environment to serve it's client base. ALL equipment and interior is new. What I like about the place is the space. The waiting room is massive, airy and bright , compared to others I saw and the receptionists are very friendly, in person and on the phone. You also have the self service check in option. The toilets and facilities appear to very clean. In the beginning you needed to make an appointment in advance and most likely you had to call early in the morning, so that they could allocate a free spot to you. Nowadays, they introduced a walk in option in the morning, which runs from 8-10 am. You should arrive before 10 and check in. A doctor will be allocated to you. I believe that there are about 5 main partners/ doctors and a few nurses who help and take appointments for minor inconveniences. A community psychiatric nurse is also available, as well as Family Planning, community midwife and Phlebotomists. Consultation is by Appointment: 7.30-8.30 Wed &Fri. 8.30-11.00 and 2.30-5.30. House calls are possible, but shall be avoided. They take on new patients, who live within their postcode area. Appointments are about 10min long. The location is near to Haymarket!

It's difficult to rate a GP Practice as there are so many different facets to the service you can…read moreinteract with. What most people are concerned with I imagine is actually getting an appointment so let me break it down. Appointments - I'm not going to pretend it's easy. 8.30am the lines open for that days appointment and semi-urgent appointments for the next few days. Prepare for the engaged tone! There aren't many! It's the same if you require a call back from the GP too. If your appointment isn't classed as an emergency you're looking at a wait of anywhere between two to six weeks... Nurse services - pretty good and reliable. Appointments come out when you expect them too and results are either on time or earlier. Midwife services - excellent. As with the nursing services above. Most appointments are at the MPCC but scans are at Roodlands in Haddington or at the Royal dependent on how simple or complex your pregnancy is. Health team - hmmm...good and bad experiences. It took several months to get my child seen when we moved into the area. Given his age at the time we should have been within two weeks. They also missed his immunisations by a few months! The office staff seemed incompetent. That problem looks to have been solved second time around of dealing with them... Staff - pretty good. If you call during peak times...I would expect a ray of sunshine to beam through the phone but if you're pleasant with them you can expect the same in return. The GPs themselves are a mixed bag but I wouldn't expect anything else really. There are a couple that are incredibly diligent and others that are willing to give you your allotted time and that's it. All in all not a bad practice. I've experienced worse.

I have asked multiple times where my records are which were transferred from London and have had no response. I called today and they have an answering machine on saying they are closed for the bank holiday - when there isn't a bank holiday and saying they will reopen in May?!? It's bloody September. My husband nearly…read moredied going there - he collapsed leaving the surgery after them taking blood and he was left lying on the street outside - he managed to stagger home covered in blood from his fall - and then went into seizure - and I had to call 999 for an ambulance as he had near heart failure - something not picked up at all by the doctor he had just visited. So emergency operation to fit a pacemaker. But that was put in wrong and it went all infected - my husband knew something was wrong with it - and went to the doctor here and they didnt even look at his chest or pacemaker - just gave him some painkillers and sent him home - again I had to check on the internet and found that the pacemaker was probably being rejected and again had to go into emergency again as doctor completely failed to even examine the patient - just issued a prescription of painkillers... honestly shockingly poor service - he is there now for the last time and I am insisting he changes his doctor tomorrow morning and NEVER EVER EVER RETURNS HERE - he has at the age of 65 waited nearly two hours and as I type still not seen - I am unable to phone the receptionist as they are not picking up the phone - so now my 65 year old husband faces a journey home in the dark through a park in gales - I am really really angry... you would have to be mad to go here - I have a doctor where you are seen in 30 - 40 minutes. I had an infection for some three years and in that time they could not diagnose what was causing the problem. Meanwhile I was going through pain and discomfort. If you complain you are under the treat of expulsion, this can be seen by the notices in the waiting room. Also if you try to make an appointment you are told to phone at 8.00pm in the morning, you cannot get connected and when you do there are no appointments and have to phone again next morning to start over again. I thankfully evaded it, but around October time this place was swarming with red-nosed, pale-faced students and the doctors coped with it well. I did have to come here when I hurt my shoulder playing rugby. I was seen to by a particularly attractive and young GP who was very attentive. She also gave me plenty of helpful advice on how to recover and avoid future injury. The secretarial staff are also really friendly and there are plenty of informative pamphlets to read through as you wait.
