What most people are concerned with I imagine is actually getting an appointment so let me break it down. Appointments - I'm not going to pretend it's easy. 8.30am the lines open for that days appointment and semi-urgent appointments for the next few days. Prepare for the engaged tone! There aren't many! It's the same if you require a call back from the GP too. If your appointment isn't classed as an emergency you're looking at a wait of anywhere between two to six weeks... Nurse services - pretty good and reliable. Appointments come out when you expect them too and results are either on time or earlier. Midwife services - excellent. As with the nursing services above. Most appointments are at the MPCC but scans are at Roodlands in Haddington or at the Royal dependent on how simple or complex your pregnancy is. Health team - hmmm...good and bad experiences. It took several months to get my child seen when we moved into the area. Given his age at the time we should have been within two weeks. They also missed his immunisations by a few months! The office staff seemed incompetent. That problem looks to have been solved second time around of dealing with them... Staff - pretty good. If you call during peak times...I would expect a ray of sunshine to beam through the phone but if you're pleasant with them you can expect the same in return. The GPs themselves are a mixed bag but I wouldn't expect anything else really. There are a couple that are incredibly diligent and others that are willing to give you your allotted time and that's it. All in all not a bad practice. I've experienced worse.

The practice consists of 5 reletively young GP's and runs numerous health clinics; diabetes, hypertension, well woman, cervical screening and asthma. They have a great repeat prescription service which allows you to fill out a form online and even specify the chemist that you want to collect your drugs from. It does now also have a commercial side which provides health services for travellers. Free to NHS are vaccinations for Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Diptheria, Tetnus and Polio. All other services have fees payable for services from the Adventure Tourism Travel Health Clinic. Fees are payable for Hepatitus B, Meningitis and MMR vaccines.

I went there for help with a distressing painful problem ongoing which has been highly emotive. having had little sleep because of the painful and distressing condition which should have garnered some sympathy at least, I was accused of being aggressive! unbelievable when she was actually sitting there with a bad attitude which was actually passive aggressive and it was she who was upsetting me in fact. what a complete and total waste of my time it turned out to be.

I have asked multiple times where my records are which were transferred from London and have had no response. I called today and they have an answering machine on saying they are closed for the bank holiday - when there isn't a bank holiday and saying they will reopen in May?!? It's bloody September. Totally rubbish service and a disgrace to the NHS.

My husband nearly…read moredied going there - he collapsed leaving the surgery after them taking blood and he was left lying on the street outside - he managed to stagger home covered in blood from his fall - and then went into seizure - and I had to call 999 for an ambulance as he had near heart failure - something not picked up at all by the doctor he had just visited. So emergency operation to fit a pacemaker. But that was put in wrong and it went all infected - my husband knew something was wrong with it - and went to the doctor here and they didnt even look at his chest or pacemaker - just gave him some painkillers and sent him home - again I had to check on the internet and found that the pacemaker was probably being rejected and again had to go into emergency again as doctor completely failed to even examine the patient - just issued a prescription of painkillers... honestly shockingly poor service - he is there now for the last time and I am insisting he changes his doctor tomorrow morning and NEVER EVER EVER RETURNS HERE - he has at the age of 65 waited nearly two hours and as I type still not seen - I am unable to phone the receptionist as they are not picking up the phone - so now my 65 year old husband faces a journey home in the dark through a park in gales - I am really really angry... you would have to be mad to go here - I have a doctor where you are seen in 30 - 40 minutes. I can imagine the diagnosis here - a packet of paracetamol - as they gave him for his heart pacemaker rejection.... one doctor on duty - not the regular one doctor some stand in... hardly adequate - but I am putting my foot down - my husband is not going back here ever.... dont understand how the other people rate this place as good - but I nearly very time my husband goes there as I never know if he is actually going to survive the experience - shocking place, shocking service - it should be shut down! - if you value your health find somewhere else - this review is not just about a coffee shop where you might have a nice cup of tea and a cake - but a warning to anyone thinking of going here - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE - THEY ARE DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH IN HERE... It's really easy to register - you complete 3 forms which you can either collect in the surgery or print from the website. You do have to live in either G3, G11 or G12 postcodes to register. There are advance and on the day appointments available as well as telephone consultations. I've only ever met Dr MacLaren and have always received an excellent and efficient service. This practice offers a really wide range of services including online patient access to repeat prescriptions, online cancellations and the ability to update your personal information. I love a technologically advanced public service! Everything is available here from travel health advice and services, house calls, stop smoking and children's health services. I love the prescription collection service where you can collect repeat prescriptions directly from the dinky wee Boots along the road. I've never really had cause to rave about a GP practice before but this one is truly fantastic!

Whilst not wanting to get personal unlike some of the practicioners, who make such comments. I am very disapointed. I had an infection for some three years and in that time they could not diagnose what was causing the problem. Meanwhile I was going through pain and discomfort. If you complain you are under the treat of expulsion, this can be seen by the notices in the waiting room. Also if you try to make an appointment you are told to phone at 8.00pm in the morning, you cannot get connected and when you do there are no appointments and have to phone again next morning to start over again. They are there to serve the people first and the practice is there for the benefit of the patients and not themselves

I switched because the there were only two Dr's at mine, one of which was part time and the other should have retired himself and his condescending manner years ago. This practice runs a phone appointment system, you must phone first, the Dr calls you back and does a phone consultation, if you need seeing they then book a full appt. for that day. Otherwise scripts can be collected after your phone consult. I'm not convinced it's that great a system but at least you don't have to wait weeks for an appointment like other surgeries. If you don't like making phone calls this could be a reason to put you off. The receptionists are pretty brusque and I hardly ever see the same Dr twice which has its pros and cons. There's also the in house service for mental and physical health services right in the same building.

They only take phone appointments at 8am, which anyone with children will know is one of the busiest times of the day trying to get the dressed and out of the door. I really don't like giving staff who are not medically trained, details of my probems. I even begged the receptionist to make me an appointment for the following week, but the receptionist just said "oh well, there is nothing I can do" when i explained the earliest I can call after drop off at about 8.40am each day. They have no care or empathy at all. It makes me wonder what the reception staff do after 8am apart from be objectionable for the rest of the day. Tolcross Medical centre, Braids and Buckstone are a much better medical practice as they allow parents to either walk in, make an appointment online or dont have a daft rule about only giving appointments out at 8am. The reception staff are just rude and un-caring.

The nurse who saw to me this afternoon was nothing but rude and patronizing from the moment i sat down. Baring in mind - it takes a lot for people to pluck the courage to go to the doctors. Very disappointed and upset at how i was treated. She was rude about why i had booked a blood test - i said this was due to feeling tired - i was then told i was not getting a blood test and why had i not spoke to a doctor about this. There is no winning - i was trying to be helpful by not bothering the doctor. When i had booked these initial appointments i had told the girl on the phone what they were for - if there was an issue this should have been addressed when i booked the appointment. I had also told the girl that i have moved address, and that i would be registering at another doctor after this appointment - she said this was no problem, however when the nurse saw me i got a 5 minute lecture about this, and again this was done in a patronizing tone. I am a 26 year old girl who was already nervous about these appointments - i shouldn't have to walk out of the doctor surgery crying at how i was treated.
