Medical staff are excellent.
Majority of reception staff are good (especially the newer cohort), though through my first hand experience some can be abrahsive and obstructive. This experience is most often found when trying to book appointments
Booking an appointment is a nightmare. If you call at 0830 to make a same day appointment it can take 20-30 minutes to get through. I have, more than once, called several times a minute between 0830 and 0900 (60+ calls) to eventually find there are no appointments remaining. Calling later in the day to make an appointment for the next day or two weeks hence, has always (i.e. without exception) resulted in disappointment.
If you go to the surgery at 0830 there a much better chance of getting an appointment. When I have done this (for a family member) i have always got an appointment. However, when I've been ill the last thing I want to do is get up, washed, dressed to drive to the docs to make an appointment. Especiallywhen I own a phone.
In short, an otherwise good practice that is fundamental flawed due to the appointments system. I can't comment on where the issue lies; too few doctors on duty; obstructive reception staff; too many sick folk in Camelon. It's hard to tell.
I have now resorted to telephone appointments; a poor substitute for seeing a doc.
Finally, I suggest you don't knock yourself out getting to you appointment on time I have always (without exception) been taken 10-20 minutes late. read more
