I had a few issues with my foundation (related to the normal settling of a new home) as well as another issue or two. What's most important, whenever a homeowner needs a builder to resolve an issue, is consistent communication between the homeowner and a builder's representative, as the coordination of schedules of the various people that are needed to put any issue to rest (including the homeowner) can be complex. BUT when everything jives, hopefully the parties involved can make things right. I've always been a bit of a pessimist, as I feel that businesses in general can be hesitant to "do the right thing". Words fail to express my extreme satisfaction and appreciation for all that Westchester Modular has done in actually "doing the right thing" and fixing the issues regarding my home. Westchester's representative Liz worked diligently to coordinate all of the schedules of the various people who came to my home to work on various projects. No doubt, it was a difficult task. One of Westchester's biggies, Patrick, paid a visit to my home to asses the situation first hand and to further understand what needed to be fixed. The fact that he took the time to come to my home after I got out of work impressed me, and proved that they are serious about standing by their word AND their work. After his visit, things really got rolling. Among them were: - Sean the electrician fixing an issue related to my circuit box well into the afternoon/evening after I got home form work, thus sparing me the need to call in sick or to take a day off. - Sandro fixing a minor issue with one sheet of siding and also applying some sealing putty on an outside cable as a precaution to avoid a problem which could cause a different issue. - Bolivar filling in the cracks that appeared in the foundation of my unfinished basement THE RIGHT WAY. Westchester Modular even brought in a small backhoe to fill in one of the cracks from the outside. Since it was located behind my furnace, the only way to make sure the job was correctly done was to address it from the outside of my home. They were even attentive enough to bring in some dirt, grass seed, and straw so that my property looked as undisturbed as possible. What company even does such a thing? After all was said and done, after Liz coordinating everyone's schedules, after Patrick's visit, after each employee came to my home with MINIMAL disruption to my schedule and my family's routine in order to complete their individual tasks, it was evident to me that Westchester Modular not only cares about doing a good job, they also care very much about following up on any customer concerns. It is also evident that they stand by their work and will even do what it takes to make things right. We are very satisfied with our home, and with the professional way they addressed each of my home's issues. We are also very happy with the service and professionalism that Westchester Modular has to offer. In today's day and age, I am certain that there are very few home builders that will go the extra mile as they have. I now believe that there are people out there that will indeed "do the right thing". My wife and I remain extremely satisfied with their work. read more

If you want a budget house with low to medium end fixtures, these are fairly well built. We did not want a budget home but instead chose modular for the superior construction (built inside) and the convenience of not having to depend on weather in the Northeast. We wanted a base on which to build a custom house of high quality. We got none of what we expected. The house was many months late anyway. It seemed well constructed but feels cheap inside with hollow doors and poor insulation between room. The top end cabintry offered is low end. The oak is a mix of white and red and is all differnent grains and color. We painted them. The worst part is the contractor, Segalla, offered custom finishes such as building a deck and covered patio. Unfortunately, all of that was a disaster. The deck and cover area were not designed well or at the same time. The porch cover looks like an after thought- poorly engineered while still expensive and far to small an area to shield from rain. Do not expect any help with details. I asked the contractor to look over all the fixture purchases to make sure they fit. He just neglected to do so. He never asked for a permit for our wood stove. I ordered all the windows but of course ran the order by Segalla. Nobody noticed that the order was written for the wrong depth!! So that had to be corrected on site but is much less attractive than what I wanted. So either hire an architect on your own because no enginneering service is available (more money) or expect to be on you own with Segalla. You have to do all you site work as well (we did all that coordination) . As well some of the suppliers we had to use did poor quality installations. Our solid wood floors have gaps and rough cut edges. This was the biggest financial mistake I have ever made. I am trying to fix all that is wrong, but it is costing litterally as much as the house itself as to fix . Do this after is twice as expensive as doing it right the first time. My mother and I recently purchased the Concord home from Westchester Modular Homes and were initially happy with the process of working with the salesperson and builder who distributes their homes, BUT after the house was delivered the customer service to fix problems with the home has been completely unacceptable. We purchased the home from Westchester because there were good reviews about their homes and their customer service, which I'm now questioning the accuracy of those reviews and felt compelled to leave what might be a more honest review and assessment of their modular homes for other buyers who may be considering their company. They talked about being a family run and employee owned company that cares about their product, which was a great sales pitch, but talk is cheap and action costs money, which they apparently don't want to do to fix problems with their homes once they are delivered. When contacted to resolve the problems, they stated that it's their policy to have all contact about the home to go through the builder, even though the builder had nothing to do with the problems, which were from the manufacturing process at their facility. Let me repeat that... the company refused to talk with us directly after they sold us the house! They essentially washed their hands of anything to do with the house. This was something the builder wasn't even happy about. He was upset that they were putting it all on him, even though he had nothing to do with the manufacturing process that caused the problems. The problems were things that were manufactured incorrectly (windows out of plumb and level so they don't shut properly) and others were "How they install/build" things like siding and roofing that they consider "done well enough" but are not even considered proper standard building practices. For example, they expected the builder on-site, after the home was delivered to "pull up the shingles and slide" the 8" wide drip edge under the roofing shingles and then nail down the drip edge after the whole roof was shingled. The standard building practice and proper way to install a roof with drip edge is to put the drip edge on first, nail it down, then put ice and water shield over the drip edge, and finally, install the roofing shingles over the ice and water shield. When this was pointed out, they would not fix the problem and claimed that their roofing method was fine! The house came with vinyl cedar shakes installed on the house without the outside and inside vinyl corner boards installed. They expected the outside and inside corner boards to be installed on-site, which was not able to be done because in order to do so, the siding needed to be taken off in order to nail the corner board flanges down and then slide the vinyl cedar shakes into the channel of the corner boards. This, again, was done backwards and incorrectly. If this was their installation method, they should have just shipped the siding loose and had it all installed on-side rather than charging to have some of it installed only to have it taken off to be able to install all the corner boards correctly. Our builder took one look at the home and pointed out all these things that he would have to do, essentially working backwards in order to move forward, which we would have to pay him to complete! There were many other issues, such as using 2 x 6 roof rafters that would not allow for enough fiberglass insulation to meet R38 code so we had to spray foam (at 3x the cost), and the already mentioned window that was not plumb and square (installed crooked) so that my 78 year old mother could not open and close it because it was so stiff from rubbing against the frame. Westchester told the builder to tell us that the window will be fine... it will "settle" into place over time! BUYER BEWARE! They are a company that claims to take care of their customers, but they do not! If you're looking for quality modular home, find another company that stands by their product! read more

We gave a deposit of $4500 for a modular home to be built by Westchester Modular. Two middle men that they had us use as " General Contractors" took our money, told us they gave it to Westchester Modular and then "disappeared". Westchester Modular said they didn't have the money and wouldn't refund our deposits. Something is really WRONG with having to give deposits to people who are recommended by a company, have no ability to complete the job, and then have the company tell you "It's not our fault". Well, we lost $4500, and Westchester Modular did nothing to help us get our money back. RUN from this company, do not get ripped off like we did. read more

Buyer beware!! I bought a Westchester Modular Home in 2022. It has been a nightmare and money pit. The house was delivered with defects and damage throughout. The issues have accumulated to nearly 100 defective items/issues to-date, most of which are attributed to Westchester's construction of the home, and the issues are now so bad that my children and I are currently not living in the house. In fact, there is a notice posted by a company right now on every entry door to my house that says "warning, do not enter." My house from Westchester was delivered with kitchen cabinets splitting apart, nearly a dozen walls falling off the frame, holes/gouges in doors, trim, and walls, nail and screw pops in the hundreds (and still occurring), insufficient and missing insulation, electrical wiring and light problems. Last year I had to have all my lights replaced (over 60 of them) because they were malfunctioning (flashing on and off without power), The warranty person from Westchester took the old lights and told me he was going to install them in another house! I have a list of nearly 100 defective issues concerning my house and new items are still being added. This week I discovered that Westchester never finished installing the roof trusses in my attic plus one of the trusses is broken! I have failed inspection, moved my children and myself out of the house and I'm in danger of losing my homeowners insurance. Westchester has not talked to me in almost a year, has not provided me any reimbursement for the tens of thousands of dollars that I have spent fixing construction defects/issues. I'm writing this as a warning to anyone considering buying a Westchester Modular Home. I would never buy one again!! read more

If you enjoy fighting with your contractor after work, this might just be the perfect builder for you! We had nothing but problems with our addition/renovation project throughout. In order for us to move back into our home by the appointed deadline, we had to pay the full balance of the contract. Once they had our money, not shockingly, they stopped coming around. 3 years later we are now hiring another company to finish the job they won't. They removed windows from our design and when the windowless unit arrived they took no responsibility....work was substandard, even lodging a complaint was made exceedingly difficult. Westchester Modular contracts out to people who have no general contractor or building knowledge. They demand a non refundable deposit and have no ability to quote let alone build anything. If you want a trailer, which is the only thing Westchester Modular is capable of, save yourself time, money and aggravation by using a reputable mobile trailer company. read more

Based on our experience, if we could give Westchester Modular Homes, no stars, we would. Westchester makes you pay for the modular home units upfront, before they are delivered to site. They say there is a 1 year warranty, yeh right!...but there is no monetary hold back to enforce repair or service. We cannot recommend this company or its product. We have too many issues for this review, so here are a few examples: During the design process of our high end home, mistakes were made and changes we requested were not included in the final product. It took Westchester over 3 months to respond to our concerns. They took no responsibility for the problems we had and blamed it on us and our builder. One of the selling points of these homes is that they are built in a factory setting which means none of the quality control issues that can sometimes occur during typical onsite construction. We are still having construction issues 6 months after we moved into our home. This week we discovered that the bathroom vent was not sealed where it penetrated the roof and we now have water damage in the ceiling of the bathroom. Other issues include inferior plaster finish in places, uneven floors, creaking pipes (which they did come back to repair) and flapping vents. Every morning we wake up and brace ourselves for new problems. We thought we were purchasing a high end dream home and have had to settle for a nightmare! read more
