I hired Toro home remodeling to complete the task of adding shelves to my entry closet and my…read morelaundry closet and changing out both doors. They were also tasked to create a "box wall" to create more room to push my dryer back so that way the doors can close because I had an issue closing them. This box wall didn't happen because Louis said he didnt have to do that. He should have communicated that to me and reduced the cost that he charged. He felt that by getting rid of the garbage would even out this task which is some thing that should have been written in the contract to begin with. I tasked them with fixing strike plates for a few of my doors in my home and he also fix a partial door frame( which wasn't in the contract but it was done) . He also wrote in the contract that he was going to reinstall gas pipe line (that didn't happen either)The day he supposedly finished the work he wanted to collect his final payment in which he is rightfully so. However I needed to inspect the work being done. He charged me a total of $2025 for my laundry closet and I honestly didn't like the quality work provided. My brother paid him the final balance and he never fixed what he was suppose to fix before final payment. His worker only painted the closet over and cleaned the messed they wanted to leave behind. Before starting Louis told me to send a picture of how I want my laundry closet to look I should have listened but I explained to him to freestyle. My biggest mistake. Please tell me if this closet is worth $2,025. The day of collecting his balance they pulled out my washer and dryer to clean after showing them the mess one of the workers left and unfortunately I tried washing clothes later that night and my brand new washer does not work. I contacted him to find out what happened so I can fix my washer and no answer. I would not recommend this company AT ALL: I believed he took advantage of a single parent female by overcharging me for sloppy work.

John J. Sala Construction Corp. was hired to reconstruct and upgrade the home of a 90 year old…read morewidow. This project touched major parts of the house, including all interior walls, hardwood floor, siding, deck and roof. Every single part of this project was left incomplete or damaged when John and his son Jay abandoned the project in April 2019. We had several contracts with them, for example for a new air conditioning system, replacing the basement floor, etc. When the work was nearing completion, John came and demanded more money, and we set up a payment schedule for the remainder of our contract and paid him for some additional work, removing the hot water heating system covers in all the rooms, so they could be replaced. Following a partial payment for this action, the company damaged the heating system and abandoned the project. This was a major project in the 100,000 range, for which we had paid all but the last 3,000 or so. The company did not file permits correctly or complete most of the work. We do not recommend.

I've owned four homes and worked with countless contractors -- Fred is the best I've ever worked…read morewith. He is literally a dream contractor. Fred built us beautiful builtins, redid our kitchen and our bedroom, put in a projector for our media room, ran ethernet cables throughout our walls, solved drainage problems in the basement (simply and quickly!), sub-contracted and managed workers to install HVAC in our house and install new garage doors, put in radiant floor heating, pulled a rotting floating dock out of our pond and rebuilt it, and even put together our outdoor hot tub for us. When workers came to replace our gutters and botched the job he got them to come back and address the issue until the gutters worked perfectly. I've yet to find a job he can't do or find the right sub-contractor for (and then manage them to get the job done). His work is beautiful, and he often has thoughts on better ways to do things than what we thought we wanted. Freds availability to manage work is particularly amazing because his work is on our vacation home where we are not frequently present. I wish I could clone Fred so he could work on our city place as well.

After…read morethe hassle of large-scale contractors with endless scheduling problems with their subs, we decided to find a contractor who would be on the job on a daily basis and who had creative cabinetry ideas. Fred Kopilak, with custom cabinet experience and a complete skill set, turned out to be just the kind of contractor we wanted. Fred's work was excellent and well thought out. We ended up with a kitchen that exceeded our expectations. His suggestions provided us with a finished product that is unique and truly outstanding. The work was done on schedule and on budget. A final word on Fred's character. I feel that being able to rely upon a craftsman's work and integrity is critical to a project of this sort. Fred proved time and time again that he could be trusted and relied upon. He didn't cut corners and delivered a first class finished product.

He has great expertise, and is an incredibly hard worker. He is easy to work with and worked really well with our designer and other contractors. We brought Frank on early to be a part of the planning process to assure that the design and overall concept for the kitchen was feasible. Frank had some great ideas and educated us on brands to look at and which to steer clear of. We changed some of the concepts of the kitchen design and even had to bump out a wall to accommodate the new AC heat pump unit. Frank just went with the flow. I really liked the preciseness of his work and how he always left our house clean when he finished for the day. Frank gave us a few special touch ideas that really made the project pop. We couldn't be happier or have picked a greater Contractor. Highly recommend him for your next project.

The biggest job I've hired him for so far was to brace/strengthen and refinish my deck. I had the decking replaced last year, but didn't get around to finishing it after it had seasoned. A year passed and the wood was starting to look dry and cracked. My little daughter couldn't go out barefoot anymore because she would get splinters every time. Kris gave me a competitive quote and made an excellent recommendation on a material to refinish and protect the decking. Now the deck looks brand new, it has a little bit of texture to provide traction if it's wet, no more splinters, and it's super easy to clean. It was an all-day job for Kris and two helpers, and I couldn't be happier. I appreciate that Kris is willing to do some little jobs too. I hired him to clean my gutters, and another time I hired him to do some repair work and repainting to part of the exterior of my house. It's good to have a business like KAR that you can always call on to do good work for anything related to home improvement or home repair.

And in two decades none of them have come close to the professionalism, price, trust and expertise KAR brings to job everyday. Kris and his crew essentially rebuilt my entire home over a 3 month period. Spanning from wall removal, bathroom renovation, rerouting electrical, custom sink installs,, adjusting floor deflections, baseboard customization, door installs, crown molding and painting. Literally everything I could throw at him was not only done on time, but it was done right and at the price quoted with no surprises and there was zero worry about leaving him and his team to work without me home or around my dog. Even the most mundane jobs, like silencing every creak in every floorboard and hot water pipe in the house was done and Kris refused to leave the job site until it was completed. You're not getting a guy that does contracting as his job. You're getting a contractor that DOES his job, period. No matter what you're looking to do, I highly suggest calling Kris first for a quote or second opinion. I'll wager the only problem you'll have is being forced to put out an extra plate on Thanksgiving because a new family member will be getting invited over.
