The venue itself is set on a beautiful location and offered the perfect spot for our outdoor nuptials. The officiant, Bobi, was recommended and she was one of the best parts of the event! My husband and I loved her and every single guest raved about how amazing the ceremony was. An overnight stay was provided the night before and the night of our event as part of our booking and the room was adorable. Seriously. This bed and breakfast is AMAZING. Conveniently located on the Connecticut shoreline, just off route 95. A gorgeous Victorian Inn, authentically decorated, super clean, pretty patio, fire pit, porch, lovely little nooks to read and relax, and each room has its own beautiful bathroom. Friends and I stayed here for a girls weekend away, and it was the perfect setting to enjoy time together. You will be treated to a delicious, freshly prepared breakfast. And the hosts, Meri and Marcus, make you feel right at home and go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. Private beach access 2 short blocks away - and the Inn provides your beach chairs & towels! Gorgeous river access at the back of the property too. Close to so much - The Old Saybrook Inn & Spa, great restaurants, kayak rentals, outlet shopping - PLENTY to do near by. (And I found out 2 of their rooms accommodate well behaved pets, so next time, the puppy will join me!) I can't wait for my next visit and excuse to get back to this hidden gem! The Westbrook Inn Bed and Breakfast, (newly reopened under new management) was such a great surprise for me. I'm a ten year resident of this shoreline area and had never seen the inside of this utterly lovely Inn! When circumstances (full bedrooms at my house) brought me here to stay for a few days, I moved in, and I haven't wanted to leave! Meri Wick, the new owner is just delightful, she has made me the most luscious breakfasts in her enormous and beautiful breakfast room. Anything I need in my room she quickly provides and I've enjoyed my chats with her enormously. April is still in the off season for a beach town so the rates are very reasonable this time of year. There are fireplaces in almost all of the rooms so I will definitely make this my go-to place in the winter, if I need a room. As to summer time, Westbrook Beach is at the end of the road across the street, and my favorite restaurants are up and down the post road. This is definitely my new home away from home. read more

We are so glad we found this place! We were initially wary of chosing a B&B but being unable to find a private property in the area, we decided to give it a go. We had nothing to worry about! The place was super-clean and santized regularly and has a layout that works for social distancing. This place is fabulous! Meri is such a great host; she's cheery, friendly and helpful and her breakfasts are delicious! So many touches to make your stay great - beach towels, chairs and umbrellas to take to the beach (which is a 5 minute walk BTW), a library full of interesting books, a fire pit by the river with citronella and bug spray provided! Kyaks (and lifevests) and bikes are available for use which we took full advantage of. The house itself has been so well restored and the decor is just the right side of twee. Perfect for a building of this era. There are lots of nooks and crannys to hang out in without being with other people. We can't wait to go back! read more

Meri & Marc were exceptional hosts. The Inn is seriously clean & sanitized with covid being taken into huge consideration. The grounds are kept spectacular with all different pockets for alone time . So many dinner options locally and just a car ride a way. Local beach a nice short walk with many surrounding destinations. Rooms are immaculate and decorated beautifully, not congested at all. I found Westbrook Inn somewhat last minute when a planned retreat that I'd come to Connecticut for was canceled last minute. It's such a cute, cozy and elegant little inn. Mary is accommodating, quick to respond, and helpful. The room I stayed in was very comfortable and ended up being the perfect place for a few days of downtime. My husband and I wanted a quiet New England Christmas where we could bring our dog...we found it at the Westbrook Inn. As soon as we walked in the door we knew it was going to be a great experience. The amazing smells, wonderful holiday decorations and a beautiful room with a fireplace along with Meri's wonderful breakfasts makes the Westbrook Inn a must place to stay. Meri is the perfect host. I'll admit that Westbook Inn B&B was not my first choice for accomodations in the area. However, with less than a week in advance, it was one of the few places I could find a room for a Saturday night that was open and did NOT require a 2-night stay. Also, there were rooms available for $150/night, while all other places I checked wanted at least $200. The website is kind of old school, but it has pictures of all the rooms and you can book & pay right there. I chose Room 9. It was pretty small but nice. It was on the 2nd floor with a semi-private balcony. The bed was big and comfy. There was a 24" TV with about 25 channels. We had a private bathroom with a shower stall. All in all it was just fine. It was mid-May so the place wasn't full. Walking in, there was a sitting room and other little rooms with cool old-style furniture and decor. There was a large jar of cookies and a decanter of cream sherry that guests can help themselves to at anytime. the dining room was huge with 2 large circular tables. They even had a few board games. The grounds were also really nice. Our breakfast of whole-grain strawberry pancakes and spinach omlettes and juice was delicious. The beach is a quarter-mile away, we never made it due to bad weather. They even have bikes that you can borrow, which was a nice touch. Both staff members I dealt with were very pleasant. All in all it was a nice quiet relaxing stay and I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Very nice relaxing B&B convenient to the beach, river and town restaurants. Service was pleasant and competent. Breakfast was made to order and was well done, especially taken on the lovely patio outside. Also note that I left a pair of glasses in my room and they FedEx'd them to me. (But charged my room and extra $35.00 for the postage!). Think of the positivity they blew in doing that. What a nice touch it would have been to mail them, and just say come back and see us or something like that. It would have taken a 4 star review to 5. Instead, I deducted one star. read more

Moving is up there with the most overwhelming, and disorienting experiences out there, leaving one emotionally labile and feeling out of control. To attempt to alleviate our stress, I booked us a room in between closings, so that we could decompress and have a cool place to feed our nervous cat and overwrought terrier. In an altogether awful few days, Mary's wonderful inn was an oasis. In addition to being a beautiful and tranquil place, perfectly appointed with excellent antiques and charmingly landscaped, Mary's kindness, warmth and genuine hospitality was heaven-scent. Some people are simply blessed with goodness and Mary, true to her namesake, simply is. I'm happy to be able to express my gratitude here and I recommend any weary traveler stopping at Mary's inn. Stayed here at Westbrook Inn this past St. Patrick's Day weekend. It is absolutely precious. The charm makes you feel like you have stepped back in time with all of the amenities of today. The bedrooms are each comfortable and unique. The bed was so comfortable. Great way to relax. The hosts are so helpful, as well as, warm and welcoming. Breakfasts were fabulous in a beautiful dining room. Westbrook CT is sweet little beach side town with great restaurants, shops, history and beach access very close. I highly recommend Westbrook Inn. It was rather last minute but worked out beautifully. I stayed here just one night - the Thursday before the Deep River Ancient Fife and Drum Muster. This is a gracious, historic, first class inn, capturing the essence of 1800's seafaring past - and the hostess makes you feel extremely welcome. This was the perfect place to stop after a long day traveling! Other favorites: a spacious, elegant room, a delicious breakfast AND a bicycle to ride to visit the many local beaches and neighborhoods. Quite the perfect vacation day. (Kayaks also available.) Enjoyed ourselves very much. The Inn is lovely, immaculate and charming. The rooms are very quiet, comfortable and excellent value. The location is great. There are seafood and ethnic restaurants and bars down the road. One has live music on Saturday nights with a water view deck. You are less than 20 minutes from anything and everything from outlets to Niantic. You can walk to the beach, stores and a package store and they have bikes and kayaks available. The innkeepers were lovely and extremely accommodating. Breakfast was delicious. We had raspberry pancakes that were outstanding. The innkeeper/chef shared her pancake secret which I will not divulge but definitely will reinvent in my own kitchen! Lastly, our pup was welcomed and accommodated which will definitely guarantee our return. read more

Let me begin with this: I would advise those of you reading this review to stop what you are doing right now, consult your calendar and book a stay at the Westbrook Inn immediately. I spent only 27 precious hours at this property, but they were easily the most rejuvenating and soul soothing hours one could ever hope to experience. Meri is a warm, kind, bright little golden nugget of sunshine - Disney could learn a little something about hospitality from this marvelous lady. Afternoon treats in the form of utterly magical cookies and crisp lemonade served in a gorgeous parlor room set the tone for a lovely stay. Coffee and tea at the ready in the breakfast room 24/7 - I made myself some tea in a delightful cup and saucer to take to bed. I thought I was in another universe. Speaking of beds, I haven't slept so soundly since I was a kid. I had the privilege of slumbering in a four-poster bed. The room was gorgeous. Breakfast was absolutely divine - 2 courses, one more heavenly than the next. Service was so attentive! The beach is literally a 4-5 minute walk. Towels, chairs and umbrellas are all provided! I did not take advantage of the kayaks or bikes, but both were available for use. I took in the atmosphere from the comfortable and lovely porch - blasphemous as it may appear to still have to acknowledge being in the modern era, there are more outlets available on this fabulous porch than at your local Starbucks. Let that sink in. These people have thought of everything. After an afternoon of reading in the courtyard, surrounded by lush hydrangeas, the final Morello cherry on the sundae was the private dock overlooking a lake around the back of the property. I sat on that dock, pant legs rolled up, feet dangling in the water and had some peaceful reflection with an Egret in the distance keeping me company. Later, I sampled an Adirondack chair overlooking the dock to further enjoy the stillness. And maybe digest all those lobster rolls. This is the reservation to make, folks. I am grateful beyond words for my experience here. You will be too. read more

Westbrook Inn was my refuge from NYC over Memorial Day weekend. I stayed Saturday and Sunday nights. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and showed me around before giving me the key to my room and fading into the background. They served wine and cheese from 4:00 - 5:30 on Saturday afternoon and it was really lovely to have a chance to chat with the other guests for a few minutes. The Inn also offered the use of beach chairs, towels and a sun umbrella for my visits to the beach. The home-cooked breakfast was great; like having your aunt make you a meal and there were so many nice places to sit and journal and take some quiet time for myself. And there were home-baked chocolate-chip cookies in the sitting room for everyone to partake of. I came and went throughout the day without basically seeing anyone else outside of the wine/cheese hour and for the first time in a long time, I felt like I had a whole house to myself. There's a path out the back of the property that leads down to a little deck overlooking one of the tributaries of the Long Island Sound and a very nice place to find some additional solitude and take in nature. There's other opportunities to do this at the nearby Hammonasset State Park. It takes about 2.5 hours to get there by car from NYC and definitely worth the drive. I highly recommend a night or two here if you need some time to yourself to just do your own thing. The local beaches are nice and parking is easy, although a little costly at $20, but worth it to accomplish my objective to put my feet in sand and look out across an open body or water. My only critique is that I was looking forward to borrowing a bike to ride around town and they weren't ready to roll during my stay. Otherwise, a very nice experience. read more

A wonderful bed and breakfast! My wife and I recently visited with our two dogs, and we fell in love with the place. Meri and Marcus are great hosts, and Meri's breakfasts are outstanding. The rooms are beautiful and we had a separate entrance which made ours very dog-friendly. A delightful beach is a short walk from the inn, and many quaint New England towns are a quick drive. Went here with my boyfriend this past weekend... we had a great time! Our room was spacious with it's own bathroom (Room 6). The bed was super comfortable and the staff was always so nice. There was also always homemade cookies in a jar downstairs, and a huge thing of dessert sherry with cute little glasses (one of my favorite details of this place). The grounds are very well-kept and there is a lot of green space. It is right on a quasi-busy road, but there are hedges and you really don't notice it so much. There is also a dunkin donuts across the street, so if that kind of thing bothers you, then I guess you would want to stay somewhere else. Breakfast was really great - continental options are unlimited, and then you order a hot entree. I kind of wish they had breakfast meats offered, like sausages or bacon or sausage patties or something.. but it's ok. Heatlhier I suppose! We had omelettes both mornings and they were delicious. There is always hot coffee and tea, which is awesome. Lots of board games to choose from too. It was very clean, including the bathrooms, carpets, common areas, etc. No dust to be found. It is definitely a place for those people looking for a kitschy B&B experience.... kind of decorated like my Grandma's house (which is totally fine because my Grandma is friggen sweet and I miss her). They also have everything you might need to go to the beach, including beach parking passes, towels, chairs, and tote bags. They have an honor system for beverages in a common fridge and they are not overpriced (4$ for a beer). The staff definitely leaves you to your own devices, but if you want information on the local area you can definitely ask and they're super nice and helpful. Would totally go back and totally recommend to anyone going to this area. Loved it! read more

The Westbrook Inn is a beautiful Victorian Bed & Breakfast located on route 1. We stayed in a lovely room with a king size bed that was so comfortable. The innkeeper, Chris, was just wonderful. We stayed here in Room 6 as an alternative to staying at the Water's Edge for a wedding. Best decision! Glenn and Chris are friendly owners who take time to talk to their guests. Chris runs the kitchen and Glenn maintains the property and does everything on his own. The house was like staying at my Great Aunt's home in Buckhead, GA with the Victorian era antiques. Decor was authentic and cozy. The living room had all sorts if board games, as well as a lending library for leisure time. Breakfast has a few options, with eggs any style as well. A self-serve dining room buffet table has fresh fruit and coffee cake. Coffee and tea are available all day, with homemade chocolate chip cookies. The outdoor patio has an honor system water and soda refridgerator, and pay as you pour wine by the glass in the evening. The rooms have beach towels and a basket to take to the local beach as well! They thought of everything! Cream sherry was awaiting guests at the sitting area as they retired for the evening. We will return! read more
