I experienced a wait time of 45-50 minutes as a new customer seeking contacts and glasses at the eye care center. Despite the overall cleanliness and modern ambiance of the place, I encountered several issues. Firstly, the extended wait time was particularly noticeable for a new patient. Secondly, while the assistants were commendable, Dr. West only spent around 5 minutes with me. He mentioned I was in the early stages of cataract without providing information on what it entailed or offering guidance on reducing its growth. Additionally, I found him lacking in personability and didn't feel that he took the time to get to know me. The fitting for the contacts resulted in worse vision than before, and both pairs of glasses I ordered were ill-fitted, requiring me to raise them each time I wanted to read up close. Despite being promised "anti-scratch" lenses, one of the lenses ended up scratched. There was no follow-up or communication regarding the effectiveness of the glasses or contacts. Furthermore, I was never provided with a contact lens prescription. The total bill amounted to almost $1500. Since that time, I haven't worn contact lenses due to the unsatisfactory experience of the ones prescribed. read more

Dr. West and his entire staff (Andrea, Amanda and Regina) are absolutely AMAZING!!! I don't believe I have had the pleasure of meeting Shelby yet but I am 110% confident she too is amazing. To express how wonderful they all are and how grateful I am to be one of his patients; there simply are no words. At Dr. West's office, you are truly NOT "just a patient"; not even close. They are honest, caring and will most definitely go that extra 200 miles (or however many it takes) to make sure you are taking care of and happy with the results. Dr. West is VERY thorough and will explain any and all questions you may have during your exam in such a way that you would easily understand the most complex situation or condition. West Vision is fabulous. The staff is super friendly, professional and helpful. Dr. West takes the time to explain everything you should, and need, to know, about your eyes, and does so without rushing you. Additionally, I have worn glasses for literally decades, and so have gone through the process of eye exams, selecting frames and fittings many, many times. This is the very first time that I was given contacts to wear while selecting frames, so that I could actually see the frames I was trying on! To be able to actually see what I would look like BEFORE purchasing, was a new and marvelous experience. In fact, the whole visit was wonderful. I have been to two other eye doctors in Tyler. Both were ok in their diagnosis but had so many other problems in their offices. In one, a "relative" of some important staff (who was also the employee who helped me) was rude and ugly to me when I went in to get an adjustment on the fit of my glasses. At the other office, I was pressured into buying a frame I had said I did not want. To top it off, one of the lenses seemed to be "off-center." However, when I found Dr. West and his team, I received professional, encouraging, honest, kind, helpful, accurate service every minute I've spent with them. No pressure, no rudeness. The clinic and the staff exceeded my expectations. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Dr. West was incredible, he is very thorough and knowledgeable.
