It's been over 10 years since I ran cross country in high school but I've been wanting to invest in some good shoes. This store is located right off of I-75 near the West Paces Ferry exit and is very easy to get to. I believe Alexandra helped me out today and she was very knowledgeable about the shoe selection. I did a free scan to see my pronation and while she did explain the point of getting inserts, I didn't feel pressured to buy them. For the shoes, I was interested in Hoka but I've always worn Asics and New Balance. Apparently Hokas tend to fit wider and my feet are slightly narrow. I also learned that typically people will size up 0.5 of their shoe size when running. I left with some New Balances and I'm excited to break them in! The price was exactly what I was expecting for high quality shoes, I did NOT feel like I was being overcharged at all. I did a quick search on the New Balance site when I got home and they were the same price online. Very glad that I could support a local business instead! I actually ended up a few cents under budget after taxes were added in! I would highly recommend West Stride for anyone of any age and pace looking to get serious about walking or running. I finally quit procrastinating and visited West Stride to get fitted for some running shoes. I believe Tara (I hope I spelled that right) was the one to assist me and she was so helpful and patient. After doing a gait analysis she brought out several shoes for me to try on. I told her I was traveling soon and would be doing some hiking so she also brought out some trail shoes for me to check out. One cool thing, as I was trying some shoes on a woman came in looking for a specific type of shoe. Tara said they didn't have it but then recommended that she check out another shoe store that's close by. I thought it spoke volumes that staff were willing to recommend a competitor. They cared more about making sure customers got what they need even if it wasn't from them. I ended up getting two pairs of shoes - one for running and another for running errands, some inserts, and a pair of socks. They have an app where you can earn points for purchases and redeem them for money off future purchases so I was able to rack up some points. I saw a lot of cute clothes but I decided to give my wallet and Tara a break. I'll definitely be back though to redeem them and check out their new stock. On the day I went, Tara mentioned that a Hoka rep was coming in that day to show them new shoe lines so they keep their inventory fresh. Overall, I'd highly recommend checking them out if you need to be fitted for shoes. Parking is free and in a shared lot so you should be able to find something. Happy trails! read more

I would not recommend this place if you are looking to be sized up for shoes. Some of the workers did not seemed versed in what shoes are needed for specific feet. I've gone in to try out multiple pairs and the two I have gone with both have not worked, and physically give me pain. Thats not the real issues because the first pair I bought were apparently out of the 1 month return policy. That didn't give me enough time to actually break the shoes in or allow me to get any intensive training in with the shoes. The issue I have is they will not take a return back on the shoes THEY sized me up for and said would be a great fit for me. The shoes caused blistered on both sides of my feet which made me come to the realization they had chosen the wrong size shoes because my foot was swimming around in the front.(I had to go to a different store to get this information) I even spoke with the manager and she told me they can't make any exceptions even though they seemed to size me up for the wrong shoes. Even though it was out of the 1 month policy it doesn't seem feasible to be able to fairly test the shoes during that time. I even told the manager that I have not had a good experience with them and she proceeded to stay that is "not fair to say" and that she would not be willing to help me what so ever. I hope you find this review well and I do not recommend this store if you are needing advice, looking to get fitted, or simply want some new shoes. I will not be going back in the future. Visited to p/u my Jingle Bell Jog Bib & decided to shop for a pr of running shoes. Found something pretty cute, I must add. The associate who helped me was very knowledgeable of all the products. I wish I can rmbr his name but it's been awhile since my visit & since it was during the holidays, it took me a minute to get back to write my review. Apologies Yelpers. Back @ the ranch... since my last visit, I walked out w/ two awesome sets of workout gear. I love PT gear & had to have the high waisted legging. I'd have to see it up close to appreciate the cut & the designs of this burgundy pant. I thought the stripe white/gray was pretty cute so I had to p/u to add to my forte as well. I haven't put it to the test yet, but as soon as I do, I definitely will update my review. If Ur in the market for some new running shoes & pay them a visit. It's been a couple of years since I've gotten my pair of running shoes from here. Find myself referring them to friends in the area so I wanted to take the time to leave a review. This review is for the skeptical folk who think that paying extra for great customer service and a great pair of shoes is ridiculous - it's not! The pair of shoes they fit me for and sold me have held up incredibly well, have lasted a half marathon and leisure runs for exercise. I loved the time they took to put me on a treadmill, watch my gate and how my foot landed, and saw my high arch needed lots of support. I recently left them at home and thought to put on a random pair my buddy had...after 3 miles, I had shin and knee pain that lasted for days. With my shoes, I've never experienced either. These folks deserve your business and if you're a runner OR just trying to keep motivation to stay in shape and walk/run more, you deserve their service! read more

I received EXCELLENT customer service from Deeter when I stopped in for new shoes. He was thorough and friendly and aimed to understand my needs for my footwear. He didn't try to sell me the most expensive shoe, which I appreciated. And I love my new kicks! read more

This is one of our great local businesses. The owner, Jeannie, is a former employee of the renowned Jeff Galloway of Phidippides, and has such a great store. Not only for their goods, but for the fact that they do a lot to support local schools (like my alma mater, Westminster, as well as Lovett and Pace, and of course, Galloway - if you know anything about Jeff Galloway, you know that his dad founded Galloway School and was a lifelong runner himself, plus an awesome man). This year, for example, West Stride supplied the (championship winning!!) Wildcat Cross-Country team with wrist bands and more to keep them psyched up for the race. As a former Top 7 cross country runner myself, this made me smile when I heard about it from the boys' coach. I've been slowly getting back into a "real" running routine and now that we have an actual season-change upon us, it is time to return for some picks to keep me warm/cool/sweating just right! read more

Top-notch store devoted to runners - beginners to experts. They have a huge selection of footwear, clothes and accessories, but the best part is their staff who are all runners themselves and who have a lot of knowledge. Chafing? They've got you. Need reflective gear? Check. Need a minimalist shoe? No problem. My favorite part of the whole store is actually the bathroom with it's wall to wall covering of race bibs :) I meet at this location every week for a group running clinic and I can imagine no other spot on this side of town. read more

Free gait analysis and assistance with finding your perfect shoe fit and other running needs. Friendly staff is the best part of this store. Definitely recommend their group runs multiple times a week. Free to all, and a great way to get to know other runners in Atlanta. Occasionally you get free seminars after a group run too. Mapped out runs so you know what distance you are going and won't get lost, plus Gatorade set out on the course during longer runs and refreshments after on weekends. read more

Running has recently become part of my normal routine. I just signed up for a half marathon in October and wanted to make sure to get the right shoe to train in. They immediately greet you as soon as you step foot into the store. Friendly and helpful staff! A huge selection for running, clothing, shoes, etc. They have anything you would ever need as a runner. There was a huge clearance section and I found a great pair of running shorts for 50% off, sweet deal! I went in with the intention to just try on shoes, not to buy. The staff was very knowledgeable in regards to running shoes and answered all of my question. I was about to buy my shoes there when I realized that I had a gift card for the particular brand I was about to buy. I hated leaving without buying the shoes because they were just so friendly and helpful. I will come back for my running supplies, they had the chaffing sticks I like and the energy block chews. read more

I've been coming to this store for the past 7 years, and have gone through tons of pairs of the same Mizunos with them. I was observed and fitted the first time I came in, and have stuck with that same shoe ever since. Their staff is very knowledgeable and well-trained, and always asks how they can help you as soon as you walk in the door. They also have a small-medium selection of apparel and other running products and some stuff on sale, so not everything there is at the high boutique prices. read more

I had the most awesome customer experience ever at this store because of Sammi! Things that showed she really cares about her customers: 1) She asked you if you made in suggestions in your email 2) She looked up the running video from the last visit and gave me her detailed analysis. She yes, I have a slight right ankle pronation but I corrected it the longer I was running 3) She looked at my current shoes and said we have similar nike and I tried them out which felt awesome. However, I wasn't loving the colors was my only issues 4) She found a comparable Brooks Pureflow 6 and these were amazing with different cushion points and beautiful colors Both times, she let me run on the treadmill just to make sure they both suited what I needed. All in all, this girl was a walking sunshine with a 24/7 smile and extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend people to get fitted for the correct shoes for your running needs. My boyfriend didn't know he had ankle pronation on both sides until he the treadmill test at the store. They found running shoes with support for that particular issues and he haven't had any running pains since. read more

I'm giving five stars because of the excellent service I got. The store closes at 7:00 p.m. and I walked in 5 minutes before closing. I HATE to be that person who makes workers stay past hours so I was just going to take a quick peek at running shoes and then be on my way home. The employee greeted us very warmly and asked us if we need help. We said we didn't want to bother him because we know it's closing time but he insisted he help us anyway. He watched me walk, video taped me running on a treadmill, and then gave me a huge selection of shoes that would be good for my feet. Honestly, his customer service was so good that it makes me want to support this business for a long time. Thank you so much! I love my new shoes :) read more

I love West Stride! It's a great running store. The people there are extremely helpful and attentive. I worked with Geanie a couple of times and had a great experience. She spent probably over an hour with me, helping me find the best shoe. I must have tried on and ran in every style shoe they had in the store. Geanie was super patient and nice the entire time. She kept saying, "We need to do whatever it takes to find you the best shoe." After trying on all the women's shoes, Geanie suggested trying a youth shoe due to my small feet. Well, it was perfect! A youth size 4 was a perfect match. I would've never thought of trying on a youth shoe if Geanie had not suggested it. She also helped my husband find a shoe, which he says is the best shoe he's ever had. Not only did Geanie help us find our shoes, but she spent time giving my husband and me great tips on marathon training including injury prevention, how to treat certain discomforts we were experiencing, hydration, nutrition, etc. She was extremely helpful. I haven't tried this yet, but she also invited us to their FREE group run on Saturday mornings. They have the route mapped out, hydration along the route, everything that you would get at a training program that normally cost around $200. What a steal! You can learn more about their group runs on their website. I've been to a few of the other specialty running stores in Atlanta and would say West Stride is several notches above them all. I love this company and the customer service here is phenomenal! It's ran, owned and operated by women and they cater especially to our needs. I was at my wit's end trying to find a bra that fits. I called and spoke to Stephanie and she assured me that she would be able to help me. I came in and she helped me personally with the fitting and I left not only in an amazing bra, but also feeling amazing having had such an awesome customer service experience that I would and am definitely going back to purchase some of my other Athletic Apparel as they sell a wide array of clothing options shoes excetera for people who are active. West Stride is an incredible shop with awesome people. I will go here for all my running needs as long as I'm in Atlanta. I had bought a pair of shoes that wasn't working out; West Stride was awesome about taking them back (even though they weren't perfectly clean anymore and it had been a few weeks) as well as helping me find a pair that would work better. I'm now in running dream-land thanks to both the advice of the staff and their incredible customer service. I am a hardcore runner, and I would say I've been to every running shop (chain and standalone) in the Atlanta area (as well as many others in other places). I finally made it into West Stride a few weeks ago. They have a very nice selection of running shoes, representing all brands and different styles (stability, cushioned, light, made for speed, made for endurance, etc.). The staff was very helpful in spending time with me to test out multiple brands and styles. I know what I like, but the shoes I had been wearing weren't treating me as well and I was ready to try something else. I'm very pleased with my Hoka One Ones and the prices were consistent with Phidippides, Big Peach, etc. I would definitely come back! read more

I love West Stride! I decided to stop in the other day to get fitted for some new running shoes after suffering through too many aches and pains during my training runs. Chris, the sales associate who helped me, was very knowledgeable about running shoes and was able to narrow down what type of shoe would work for me based on my answers to a few questions (what did I dislike about my current shoe? which brands have I tried before? how many miles was I running per week?). He watched me walk barefoot around the store to assess my arches and then brought out several pairs of shoes that would work for a person with a neutral pronation. I tried on the first pair and then Chris put me on the treadmill so that he could videotape me running so that we could see if we were in the ballpark with a neutral shoe. Chris allowed me to look at the videotape and pointed out a few things about my pronation and how my feet landed when running. After we determined that a neutral shoe was the way to go, Chris brought out several brands of shoes for me to try on. He made sure that he asked me about how comfortable they were and asked me what I did or didn't like about them. There were a few pairs that he brought out in varying colors, even though the varying colors were not on the sales floor. Chris really listened to my needs and made sure that I left the store with a shoe that I liked. At the end of the day, I chose a pair of Nike's. I have run in them a few times and all of those nagging aches and pains are gone. I will definitely return to West Stride when I need some additional running gear. Incredibly helpful staff here! Went here looking for some *actual* running shoes bc mine had been putting me in pain. The gentleman (believe his name was Roger) who welcomed me when I walked in helped me from start to finish. From watching my walking pattern to getting me to run on their treadmill to watch my stride, he basically assessed multiple factor and gave my three very great shoe options. It didn't take long, and I'm definitely glad I had his knowledge to get me in the right shoes! Would recommend even if you're like me, only running a few miles a week! read more

I went to West Stride recently with a gift card. My intent was simply to use the gift card and move on. However, I found myself finding all sorts of great running clothing, including some great deals on their clearance items. It took me at least an hour and I walked out with quite a number of items. It's been a few years and since my initial visit to West Stride I've purchased running shoes here as well as clothing. They have a great, knowledgeable staff who are super helpful. I was wanting to try a new type of sports bra, specifically something that either clasped in the front or that back and that I didn't have to pull off over my head after a nasty work out. Ick. The lady who helped me sorted through everything they had, including the clearance bin, and waited outside the room to help me and give suggestions, as needed. I LOVE going to West Stride to shop, run and hang out. It is the greatest store for running gear particularly for women...plus it is female owned and operated. I have never had better fitting sports bras or cuter running outfits. The selection is amazing and I have learned more about shoes from the West Stride team than I have ever known and have been running for almost 20 years. Additionally, the owner and staff at West Stride are so supportive and I am proud to call them friends as well as support their community efforts. Buying shoes or GU at West Stride means you support local small businesses as well as a variety of non-profits in the community including my favorite, the Junior League of Atlanta. Cool culture of helping you find what you are looking for whether it's running shoes, clothing or accessories. As others have noted, the friendly staff spends quality time with the customer so there is a great shopping experience. It's a drive for me but I shop there time and time again. Plus, they have group runs, speakers and clinics that meet at the store. Here's the part they are too modest to tell - the sales people are top runners in Atlanta. Genie, Wil, Stephanie, J Raj, Caitlin, Bea, Deiter and more are great runners as well as great staff. They treat every level of customer from walker to seasoned runner with the same care and respect. I wondered in West Stride yesterday to look for some new running shoes, as I was experiencing some discomfort. I was lucky to have encountered ROGER SCHMIDT -- a marathon runner! His knowledge of the body as relates to running and about running shoes and all the nuances is incredible. He is conscientious and patient and thorough and made me believe he wanted to come up with the right shoe for me. I left thinking, this store is really good. It may be a small store but their customer service makes up for it. The associate that helped me was knowledgeable about the shoes she brought out (not by reading some sales book) but from experience. As an avid runner I appreciate that type of feedback. From the start I told her my price range, upcoming races, problems and she worked with me for a good hour. I felt as though I was talking to one of my running friends who really wanted to me to find and enjoy my new running shoes and not just make a big sale.
