Twice I have shown up with friends at 2:00pm (which is the posted hours). The first time they were redoing their floors and told us that they wouldn't be open for another 3 hours. There was no notification that they would be opening late where they post their business hours Or on the door. The next time about 2 weeks later, I called the night before we went and asked "What are your business hours tomorrow? I was told 2:00pm-2:00am. BUT..... when we got there the next day people were inside and saw us standing outside waiting but nobody acknowledged us. I then called the bar and asked the bartender if they were open (it was 2:05pm). I got a RUDE response of "We're not ready and won't be open for another half hour". No explanation..... No apology for running late. I told him this was the 2nd time this happened and he raised his voice. Needless to say we will not be going back. If that's how you treat your customers I can spend my money elsewhere!! DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Great food, service and even a live band playing Hawaiian and local music! The band is very good and they seem to enjoy what they do cause the music was excellent! We had the meat lovers and some poke nachos which were great and an excellent choice compared to other competitors. The Pulehu ribs were the best although they were out of some menu items when we went there on a busy Friday night. Give them a try. Came there around 7:30ish to with my mother as a belated birthday dinner for me. They must've been busy earlier cause when we got there was a list of items that weren't available but at least they were items I actually didn't want to order at the time as I already looked at the menu online and was set on getting Poke Nachos. This dish alone is worth the drive, the parking struggle, and even the existential crisis I had about eating more vegetables than usual. Crispy, garlicky, and perfectly sautéed--each bite was like a little Hawaiian hug from the culinary gods. I didn't know green beans could taste this good, and the spam? Chef's kiss. And then there's Steph, the bartender. Oh man, give this woman a raise, a trophy, or at least a lifetime supply of mai tais. She's part mixologist, part comedian, and part therapist--serving up top-tier drinks with a side of A+ banter. She could make a rock feel welcome at the bar. This place is an absolute disgrace. The moment I pointed out that my drink was made wrong, an employee completely lost it and yelled for someone to "get her out of here." All because they messed up an order. Unreal. The manager tried to smooth it over and said they'd remake the drink, but then some girl -- who didn't seem to know a single thing about her job -- decided to jump in and tell me to leave. The arrogance and ignorance were off the charts. If this is their idea of customer service, they shouldn't even be in business. Very over priced for what you get. Ordered the pork nachos and it came out in a small soup bowl for $22? It tasted like store bought nacho chips with cheese whiz, diced tomatoes and olives. The pork was dry like it was sitting out in open air. Service was okay, but not very personable. We ordered two appetizers and two drinks and our bill was over $70. read more

This is not for the food but for the management. On the night of the tsunami when people were evacuating and we were stuck for a couple hours in the traffic my husband had to get out of the car to pee and walked up to this restaurant and asked politely to use the bathroom. The guy at the front just rudely said no he can't. When my husband explained the situation he guy just flatly said no again giving zero emotion. Wouldnt go to this restaurant any money give what a jerks they are that care zero about community. Advice for management. Try being a decent human being read more

Hadn't been here in long time so we went last week only to find out that they had just re-opened. The food is as great as ever with a different kind of menu, all pupus and a la carte which we liked. First let's start out by saying the music volume is set to club level. Bar tender was nice enough and drinks are fine but food is some of the worst we have seen. The establishment needs a lot of work. Appearance needs work as it looks dirty and laminate flooring is shot. I would absolutely not recommend. Menu needs lots of work. The whole time there (4 hours), I watched as she filled drink requests, provided positive feedback to people, floated from one end of the bar to the other. she mastered the art of pouring drinks while having witty banter with customers. It was late evening on Valentine's Day that my male companion and I showed up at West Side Bar & Grill in Kapolei Marketplace. Entering the food establishment we noticed the dart boards as well as the bar area. The restaurant was busy at night since the employees were servicing the other workers from nearby establishments. We didn't order any food since the kitchen was already shut down. We ordered drinks though. My male companion ended up playing a few rounds of darts with one of the other male customers. In the background I can hear another customer singing karaoke. I asked the bartender, Jesse, about the price of karaoke. She mentioned that every Wednesday night is free karaoke night. That's good to know if you want to sing karaoke. Yes I did sing a couple songs. My male companion sang a few songs. We even did a karaoke duet. The restroom is located near the back of the restaurant. The female restroom was very clean. I noticed another door that leads outside for those customers who want to have an outdoor seating during meal time. I think my male companion and I were the last ones to leave the restaurant before it closed for the night. Someday I would like to try the food menu items. I just don't know when that will happen. read more

When we arrived at 11pm the solo bartender was very nice and great service. It wasnt until closing 15min before 2am. Finishing our last beer, one of the workers who seemed like a paying customer socializing with everyone was now behind the bar cleaning and helping to close, rudely tells us to tank our beers down 3 times. When we were already doing so. And she only spoke to us that way, as if it was personal, attitude and upset. The outside area still had 6-10 people and there was about 4 others in the dining area still. But she was really rude towards us. Business closes 2am, we had 15min. If I have 15min to finish my beer please let me do that. Not tank the dam thing as if its already 2am and we are the last ones in there. Cause that was not the case. Her name started with a S, skin white, tattoos on arms, rock star symbol near right elbow. And just by her rude attitude and poor manners. I would give no stars. Bad representation for the name and the business. If you cant be polite and learn how to talk to people, please find another job, we were not rude to you, we said ok and was to ourselves the whole night. Not sure why she felt to only target us. When telling uncle behind us to finish up she it said it politely. And didnt have to tell him to tank it down now 3x, and he had a bucket with beers. So we were so confused. I didnt react, just stood up and left. Keep that same energy if you gonna talk to us like that. Talk to everyone like that. Or you can be nice and do better. Just upset that it takes one person like her to ruin the whole thing. But im ill leave it at that. Do better. read more

We ordered the steak, fried noodles, and poke' and every bite was absolutely delicious and fresh. Excellent food here. Our compliments to the chef! Small, casual place. The only thing that I would suggest is to serve real plates. They serve small paper plates for each person to dish up from the main meals. read more

We went here on a Friday night. There was a live band playing. It was great. However because the venue/restaurant is small on the inside the band is really loud. So having a conversation, you can forget it. It was "busy" so we sat at the bar. There was one server that night which was odd, because he did mention it was one of their peak hour for a crowd so I thought there would be at least another bar back/server. Im a food person so before going to the restaurant, I of course looked at the menu. Im going to admit that the only reason I wanted to eat here was because of the smoke meat and the imitation crab potato salad which is made with spaghetti noodles. Not a lot of restaurants do this so I was super excited, because this is just pot luck food. We started off with the poke nachos. AMAZING, but it was at market price. Price on the online menu says $25 but we ended up paying $48 for poke nachos? Stuffed mushrooms, disappointment. It was just garlic mushrooms. It's apparently stuffed with cream cheese and imitation crab - note there is none. West side burger, burger was dry - was requested to be cooked at medium and it was overly well done. Garlic fries were not garlic at all, but it was good fries. Grilled Mahi Mahi - ate half of one tiny piece. Tbh it's not worth it. I know it's fish but fish was dry in some places then raw and strong fish odor and picking at it was really slimy looking. Imitation crab salad, imitation crab was like biting into an eraser. Hell no. It was thick dry and disgusting. Rice was the only thing decent on the plate. All in all - id give this place another chance, eventually to maybe change my view on it. But ‍ we shall see. After my experience on Friday, I'm a little iffy about it. Only gave it a 2 star because of the poke nachos. Literally the only thing that tasted great. read more

We were at Wet n Wild to see San Holo and it was a great set. But the best part of the night was finding this gem of a bar and grill. There was one person working the bar, taking orders, and running food plus one person cook in the back. The hustle these two people had was amazing. We got our food and drinks in a timely manner and everything was delicious! We got the smoked meat, the deep fried chicken, the fried noodles and edamame. Broke da mouth! Dang, we were having a good time. Plus, homegirl at the bar had a smile for us even though she was crazy busy. The bar is queer friendly and several folx from the lgbtia+ community were present and having a great time. I love that cause I feel confident and safe in bringing my queer ohana Left a big tip and will definitely be back again! read more

Lots of potential, however they do not know what it means to cook a breakfast egg "over hard". They apparently have no concept of it. I sent them an email describing the three times the waitress brought me the eggs with a running yolk and a "well" fried egg. Very blackened. I probably wont go there again unless im hard up. It been over a month and their management has still not responded to my email message. read more

My spot!!! I try to go once a week to enjoy some ono food and great drinks. This used to be the old Plantation Tavern location. I have had the privilege of meeting the owners and their 'ohana. One of our favorite restaurants was located here - Plantation Tavern, so it was a surprise to see a new restaurant open up. Looked at the menu and it seemed to be similar so we gave it a try. The gal helping us seemed to be the only person taking orders, but she seemed to be holding her own. They also had a live band which was pretty good! We ordered the following: Kalbi ribs -ribs were cooked perfect but seasoned a bit too much. Kalua Pork - was really dry and not a lot of flavor. the crab potato salad tasted old. Like the mayo was left out in the sun kinda taste. Smoked meat - dry and a lot of fat. A lot of fat! Would love to give this place a better review, but the food was just not up to par. Lately I've been pretty disappointed while eating at some of my favorite restaurants, as the quality of the food has seemed to have gone down. I was starting to think that I wouldn't be able to find a good, decent priced steak anywhere. Then we went to Westside Grill last night, where my husband and I both ordered $30 ribeye plates, and we were blown away! Perfectly cooked (medium) with a nice sear, great marbling, and seasoned well! The tossed salad I got with mine looked fresh and the mashed potatoes were tasty and paired really well with the ribeye! We will DEFINITELY be going back! The entertainment was also top notch! (Summer) read more

It's difficult to rate this place on its food, as we were told no cook was available on the day we visited. Although it was happy hour, not all the juices for mixed drink were available. I think the most disappointing part of our experience was that we were not given change for our drink tab. The bartender said all she had were dimes, so she decided to round up our tab. So she pretty much took an extra tip from us. I know we will never be back to give this place another chance. read more

Waited at the bar for almost 10 minutes for a bartender to take our drink orders. There were two white girls working (they were wearing gym clothes looking like they were at the gym) and they were eating and kept going to sit down while we were the only ones standing there. Even people sitting near the bar invited us to join them because they saw how we weren't getting served. We ordered one drink, chugged it, then left. The drink was nasty too.
