We'd had a flood in our city apartment and knew The Carpet Man via neighbors on the East End, who…read moreurged us to partake of their great selection. We saw they had a one-day annual sale in September, so off we went to explore what they had. We were blown away by the breadth of selection for not only carpets and rugs, but all types of flooring, window treatments and textiles. This is one of the rare remaining non-chain places that clearly takes pride in both wide selection and customer service. We were greeted upon arriving by Paula, who was deftly handling a couple of other shoppers, and were thrilled she took the time to devote her attention to us so quickly. We came with room layouts with dimensions and a range for each room's rug type possibilities we'd already felt could work. Paula helped us zoom right in to both new roll and remnant possibilities quickly. We chose and sat down to work through the edge finishing options within minutes. The owner was circulating, answering questions, and we came to know that everyone around us had worked for him for a decade or more. Between the care taken by Paula and her teammates and the ease of the transaction, we confirmed how both the new roll and remnants would be cut and finished, and were connected with an excellent delivery service to bring our finished goods to the city. Not for a minute did we feel rushed or not completely looked after. Not only will the Carpetman see us again for both our East End and City-based needs, we've already urged others to go there who are in the market for rugs, flooring, window treatments and the like. Can't recommend The Carpetman enough! Before you shop online or with one of those chain retailers, go to The Carpetman first! First-rate customer service and selection--or tell your architect to!

I stopped at another place in Southampton and left right away because I could tell it was just beyond what we could afford. All custom everything. On a whim decided to stop at Hamptons Carpet One and it was one of the best decisions I made regarding the ADU! Eugenia greeted us and gave us an honest, up front assessment of our needs and what would work. We never felt pressured. We walked away so much informed and decided to go with engineered flooring instead of the LVT. We let our builder know about our visit. He was just as excited about the product we found. The next thing we know, we're ordering 36 boxes of engineered wood flooring that looks BEAUTIFUL. Excellent quality at an affordable price with great service. These peope know their stuff, and even when I called, and spoke to other staff, it was like talking to family. So helpful. I can't recommend them enough! I'm grateful we have a resource like them on the East End. They serve all sorts of clientele. Again, are very knowledgeable and although we didn't need them to install, they offered a great package if they did. You have to stop in at least once in your journey for the right flooring. Thank you Eugenia and the staff at Hamptons Carpet One Floor & Home!

I am a woman alone with children. I simply did not want my car damaged. I'm not sure what this guys problem was but I know I'd never want him in my house doing an installation. I was shaken. My husband on speakerphone could hear the man screaming at me. People were staring. This employee clearly has a massive anger issue. I called the business and the woman said "I'm sorry that happened, that's the world now." No, that's your employee and their behavior was completely unacceptable.

**Central Kitchen: Beautiful Bathrooms, Too!**…read more Central Kitchen should consider changing its name to include bathrooms, because they designed and delivered a beautiful bathroom for our home in Water Mill. We have known Central Kitchen for over 30 years. When we originally built our home, they did our kitchen and bathrooms, and we have always found them to be a reliable, responsive family business that takes pride in its work. Recently, we turned to them again to design and execute a new bathroom. They coordinated every aspect of the project, from selecting and ordering fixtures and faucets to overseeing the stonework and glass shower doors. They also designed and installed a beautiful, high-quality custom vanity. Our designer, Jeannie, was indispensable throughout the entire process. Her creativity, attention to detail, thoughtful suggestions, and guidance through countless selections made all the difference. We could not have completed this project so successfully without her. We highly recommend Central Kitchen to anyone considering a kitchen or bathroom renovation. Their experience, craftsmanship, and personal attention make them a pleasure to work with.

I was pleased with Sybelle Carpet's service during the selection process and they did a great job…read moreof installing too, but I don't believe their pricing is transparent or fair. They decided not to install the new padding because the one that was under the existing carpet was quite new. This saved them all of the labor that would've been involved to remove the existing padding and to install the new padding... a significant part of the overall job in my estimation. I was refunded the cost of the new padding (even though I have to take their word for it because there wasn't a line item for the cost on the estimate), but they still charged me the full cost of labor. I called them to discuss this and was told they don't refund on labor. I don't think it's fair to make me pay for work that ended up not being done. I don't feel like I was treated fairly and my complaint wasn't taken seriously.

Saw a fence on Main St. in EH that was exactly what I wanted…read more After a bit of digging I learned that it was built by EH Fence and Gate. (I discovered that just about every fence on Main St is theirs.) Called for an estimate and the owner, Michael, came by to discuss the project. Michael is personally involved in every job, with the goal being perfection. They're very busy (four week wait at least), but definitely worth waiting for. They sent over a very friendly, capable crew that did a great job installing the fence. From the first post to the final paint touch-up they were a pleasure to have at my home. They were also open to some tweaks as their worked progress (i.e., swapped black for brushed stainless hardware, changed closing latch). Some may feel that EHF&G is little pricey, but I think you get what you pay for - great design, sturdy materials and a quality product. I'm very happy.

First let me say, they are capable of doing excellent work. The problem is getting them to show up…read moreand do it. The man who runs the show, Michael, is unprofessional, unreliable and dishonest. He initially quotes a reasonable estimate for work. He then hems and haws about scheduling, repeatedly setting dates and then not showing up, not answering calls or responding to emails. IF he ever finishes the job -- a very big if, as he left our project half-done and wasn't heard from again for 3 months -- the invoice he eventually sends is more than twice the estimate he quoted. In our case, he double-billed us for materials that we purchased ourselves and had delivered, at his request. He tried to charge us for them again, but with a mark-up over the price we paid to the supplier. When you request a statement outlining costs and services, he whines about how his time is too valuable for him to spend documenting his statements, and that you just have to trust him that you owe the amount he says you owe. It's difficult to trust someone who told you on 4 different occasions he would come to finish the job and never showed up at all. Michael left us with a half-finished project we then had to contract with a more reliable company to complete. In the meantime, we just had to live with the mess.
