Saw a fence on Main St. in EH that was exactly what I wanted. After a bit of digging I learned that it was built by EH Fence and Gate. (I discovered that just about every fence on Main St is theirs.) Called for an estimate and the owner, Michael, came by to discuss the project. Michael is personally involved in every job, with the goal being perfection. They're very busy (four week wait at least), but definitely worth waiting for. They sent over a very friendly, capable crew that did a great job installing the fence. From the first post to the final paint touch-up they were a pleasure to have at my home. They were also open to some tweaks as their worked progress (i.e., swapped black for brushed stainless hardware, changed closing latch). Some may feel that EHF&G is little pricey, but I think you get what you pay for - great design, sturdy materials and a quality product. I'm very happy. read more

First let me say, they are capable of doing excellent work. The problem is getting them to show up and do it. The man who runs the show, Michael, is unprofessional, unreliable and dishonest. He initially quotes a reasonable estimate for work. He then hems and haws about scheduling, repeatedly setting dates and then not showing up, not answering calls or responding to emails. IF he ever finishes the job -- a very big if, as he left our project half-done and wasn't heard from again for 3 months -- the invoice he eventually sends is more than twice the estimate he quoted. In our case, he double-billed us for materials that we purchased ourselves and had delivered, at his request. He tried to charge us for them again, but with a mark-up over the price we paid to the supplier. When you request a statement outlining costs and services, he whines about how his time is too valuable for him to spend documenting his statements, and that you just have to trust him that you owe the amount he says you owe. It's difficult to trust someone who told you on 4 different occasions he would come to finish the job and never showed up at all. Michael left us with a half-finished project we then had to contract with a more reliable company to complete. In the meantime, we just had to live with the mess. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. The boss Mike is the most condescending person I have ever met. He is a liar and scam artist. Says it is no problem and part of the work, then charges double and complains it was extra work and not part of the estimate. Mike is very rude and has a very unprofessional and disrespectful attitude towards us, and from reading other reviews, we are not the only ones. He never comes when he says he will and the project dragged on much longer than it should. The workmanship was poor also. Would never recommend and hope no one ever uses them again. read more

Worst experience ever. Paid an arm and a leg for a stockade fence for just the front part of my house. Told them specifically that I wanted the double doors on the right side of the house. They put the double doors on the left side of my house. When I asked them why that happened, Michael told me it's because the right side couldnt accommodate them so they just put them on the left side without even consulting me. I was like, why couldnt you just ask me before you did that and he told me because he wasnt making much money off this job so his workers decided to make the decision themselves without consulting me. Then I asked him why my fence latch looked so cheap and why I wasnt offered any other options (it was made out of fishing wire and it doesnt even close properly). He said its because I didnt ask about it and it was the customers job to ask for options for latches?? They never brought up anything about latches and they just went ahead and picked the cheapest one for me bc they assumed I just wanted cheap everything. Meanwhile, I am no fence expert. Michael took zero responsibility and was screaming at me on the phone and telling me it was my fault and his company has 25 years experience. He is extremely rude, unprofessional, and does not care about customer service and is very disrespectful. Highly regret using them. Never dealt with anything like that before. read more

I have only good things to say about this company. They installed deer fencing and a deer grate on my property about two years ago. On the single occasion when a deer got through, they spent hours trying to find the breach, and didn't stop until the problem was solved. I will use this company again, without a doubt! read more
