On a whim decided to stop at Hamptons Carpet One and it was one of the best decisions I made regarding the ADU! Eugenia greeted us and gave us an honest, up front assessment of our needs and what would work. We never felt pressured. We walked away so much informed and decided to go with engineered flooring instead of the LVT. We let our builder know about our visit. He was just as excited about the product we found. The next thing we know, we're ordering 36 boxes of engineered wood flooring that looks BEAUTIFUL. Excellent quality at an affordable price with great service. These peope know their stuff, and even when I called, and spoke to other staff, it was like talking to family. So helpful. I can't recommend them enough! I'm grateful we have a resource like them on the East End. They serve all sorts of clientele. Again, are very knowledgeable and although we didn't need them to install, they offered a great package if they did. You have to stop in at least once in your journey for the right flooring. I am a woman alone with children. I simply did not want my car damaged. I'm not sure what this guys problem was but I know I'd never want him in my house doing an installation. I was shaken. My husband on speakerphone could hear the man screaming at me. People were staring. This employee clearly has a massive anger issue. I called the business and the woman said "I'm sorry that happened, that's the world now." No, that's your employee and their behavior was completely unacceptable.

We were blown away by the breadth of selection for not only carpets and rugs, but all types of flooring, window treatments and textiles. This is one of the rare remaining non-chain places that clearly takes pride in both wide selection and customer service. We were greeted upon arriving by Paula, who was deftly handling a couple of other shoppers, and were thrilled she took the time to devote her attention to us so quickly. We came with room layouts with dimensions and a range for each room's rug type possibilities we'd already felt could work. Paula helped us zoom right in to both new roll and remnant possibilities quickly. We chose and sat down to work through the edge finishing options within minutes. The owner was circulating, answering questions, and we came to know that everyone around us had worked for him for a decade or more. Between the care taken by Paula and her teammates and the ease of the transaction, we confirmed how both the new roll and remnants would be cut and finished, and were connected with an excellent delivery service to bring our finished goods to the city. Not for a minute did we feel rushed or not completely looked after. Not only will the Carpetman see us again for both our East End and City-based needs, we've already urged others to go there who are in the market for rugs, flooring, window treatments and the like. Installation for the most part was fine except they messed up a bit of the wall (a small section near the wall). The most of it was good. Getting them to fix it was a bit of a massive pain - the shop was blaming the store and vice versa. Then they said it wasn't their fault but my other contractors disagree. It wasn't a hard fix, it just took forever to get it done. Customer service was not what I expected. In addition, we have been trying to get one more small ($1500) project done and while they actually measured it, it's been a disaster getting them to follow up. It's been almost 2 months since the measurement and still hasn't gotten done. They will not respond to repeated emails and they say they will follow up but never do. The fair price and nice countertops are not worth the headache given other places you can choose from.
