Still one of my guilty pleasure spots on Magazine Street. I always try to swing by and take advantage of their sale section. I've found quite a few steals there located in the very last room. I tried to return or exchange or get a credit for a cocktail shaker that I used four times that the rubber sealant broke. They would not take it back. They stood by their 30 day return policy, even though this was a broken damaged product I would never go back to the store or order from them online they don't stand behind their products. Worst quality couch we've ever bought. The one we received custom built looked nothing like the one from the store. It came broken from the factory and had to be repaired at our house. That's not even the problem, the couch is low quality, lumpy and just looks cheap compared to the one at the store. The pillow is overstuffed, massive and hard. Went to the store yesterday and was not greeted by any of the sales associates. Heard them greet other customers who walked in but not me or my friends. We were in that store for about 30 minutes and multiple sales associates passed us and not one greeted us or asked if we needed help with anything. In my quest for new furniture, I stopped in here based on several recommendations of friends. I am glad I did. I did not purchase anything on that day, I have future plans to purchase from this brand. I will likely do so from the comfort of my home online. But, the customer service here is wonderful! Seriously. It was a rainy day out and there seemed to be more customers than employees here on the day I went. I had several questions, and the clerks bent over backwards to help me with absolutely NO pressure to buy anything at all. Amazing. I love no pressure to purchase. I like the fact that they are socially conscious and fair trade oriented. I really felt at home here. They were so nice, and everything looked perfect. The parking lot is limited in front, Magazine Street has mainly metered parking in this area, so side street parking is what you will probably have to do. The show room is well lit without being overly bright, there is plenty of room to walk around without fear of knocking anything open. read more

I decided to upgrade my bedroom and thought that I could get so much really good stuff at west elm - so I drove over there quite excited to purchase some items for bedroom refresh. I entered the store and wow wow wow all the furniture and decor just made my heart sing. I rushed over to the drapery section and after a few minutes decided which one I wanted. I looked around the shop and saw no one that could help me find the size I needed. So I saw 2 west elm Employees chatting and asked for some help. They were quite dismissive and told me they couldn't help me but someone else could and that they would get someone. So I waited and waited and waited and eventually someone came. The person that came to help looked annoyed and I could sense it. My excited heart just died in that moment knowing that I was most likely going to be disappointed. I asked her to help me find the size I was looking for and she said " that's all we have left" . I started thinking if she was psychic - because how did she know which curtains I was talking about it considering I never even showed her which one I wanted. Maybe she was..... anyway, I showed her and said " are you sure" ( thinking surely they would have some in storage or something) and she said nope that's all we have. But you can order online and pick it up here. So I thought to myself ...Maybe she doesn't work On commission and doesn't care?". Anyway, I went over to the bedding where I Thought I could find something nice.... I looked around and found something I liked. Then I couldn't find the sham that went with the duvet cover and looked around for someone to Help me..... and saw the lady that helped me previously and thought ....." should I?" But no.... Make me feel shit the first time , shame on You but make me Feel shit the second time, shame on Me.." so I decided to leave feeling quite deflated and hopped in my car once again procrastinating my bedroom upgrade until Next year. 0 STARS!!! BUYER BEWARE!!! West Elm has 1 out of 5 stars on BBB. Just google it and see for yourself. Unfortunately I was not aware of this until after placing an order. Do not make the same mistake. DO NOT make any large furniture orders that require delivery. I placed an order for a sectional in store with one of the associates for over $3k in May 2023. The company called me in July 2023 the afternoon prior to the delivery appointment to let me know the sectional was damaged and would therefore not be delivered. An order for a replacement sectional was placed without my consent. I tried calling customer service but was hung up on multiple times. I tried calling the store (since I had placed the order in store) to see if the associate could assist me. The associate who I placed the order through was not at work. The associate who I spoke to was extremely rude and said she could only relay a message for customer service to call me (which of course did not happen). The next day (the date of the original delivery appointment) the company showed up to deliver the sectional which was indeed damaged. They then tried to deliver half the sectional in August 2023. The delivery driver even said "I thought it was weird that it was half a couch". Ok sir, then why did you not question it at the warehouse before driving miles and miles to my house and wasting even more of my time? I then called customer service to request a refund/order cancellation. While on the phone with customer service I received a call from West Elm. I could not answer since I was already on the phone with customer service. The VM stated that an WE employee cancelled the order for half the sectional for some unknown reason which is why they tried delivering half a sectional today. After continuing to argue with customer service for almost an hour (they tried to tell me the sectional was currently on sale so they could not issue me a refund for the full amount I paid, then told me they would send a refund check for part of the amount and refund another amount to my card yet the total refund was still less than what I paid), I had my husband call the number from the VM back on his phone. They promised to deliver a whole sectional next week. I hung up on customer service since they had me on a long hold again without even letting me know I would be placed on hold. I hope that the delivery goes well next week so I can finally be rid of this headache and never have to deal with this company again. read more

On November 27, 2020 I went to the West Elm location at 2929 Magazine St. in New Orleans, LA and purchased a king sized Andes Deco Upholstered Bed. The bed was available and showed "in stock" when I made the purchase. I was told it would be roughly 4-6 weeks before I received the bed which would've made my delivery window somewhere between the last week of December 2020 and the 2nd week of January 2021. Little did I know my order was somehow delayed even though it showed in stock and available (Mind you I settled for the fabric color because I was in dire need of a bed). Every month for the next 3 months I would receive an order status update informing me my bed was delayed another 30 days. At this point I've waited almost 13 weeks for this bed so I decided to return to the West Elm location (March 6) I purchased the bed from and spoke with the store manager who was more than eager to help me get to the bottom of this problem. She was the one who informed me something went awry on their end because I should've received my merchandise a long time ago. She informs me that the bed would not be available until sometime in May but, I should definitely get it by then. I proceed to ask her what does the company do in situations like this where me as the customer has been extremely inconvenienced. At this point I was seeking some type of compensation for all that I had gone through; she told me that an offline team handles escalations and compensations and someone would reach out to me on that following Monday (March 8). To my surprise I received an email (see attached) from a Williams-Sonoma customer support agent by the name of Kenyon Dulaney apologizing for the delay of my order and as compensation would be willing to offer a refund of 50% of my order total back to me. I replied agreeing to the offer and he stated again that the bed wouldn't arrive to me until May, but he had put a reminder in to follow up with me then to process the credit. Luckily for me after waiting and sleeping on a mattress on the floor for the past 19 weeks for an item that was in stock at time of purchase my bed was delivered on April 12th, 2021. That same day I emailed Mr. Dulaney informing him my bed had arrived and was curious how long do credits typically take to be refunded back. No response via email or phone that day and after calling multiple times the next two days I decided to call back into West Elm's customer service line (April 14th). I spoke with Teresa Odell and after some back and forth about what they typically offer customers and the things they normally don't do along with holding on for well over 40 minutes I finally was able to speak to a supervisor named Stephanie. She first offered me a credit back of $600 something odd dollars back and I asked where did she get that number from, and she replied from the cost of the item. After reiterating the email stated "order total" she agreed to offer me the correct amount in $833.45 on a merchandise card, but that's where the problem again comes in for me as a consumer. I don't wish to do business with West Elm or it's affiliates any longer after such an arduous rigmarole I would like my refund processed back to my credit card. She stated again what they don't normally do and what's not possible. The problem for me is that I've worked in retail for well over 10 years and truly great customer service has no limits and if you truly value my business there should be nothing from stopping you to make the situation right regardless of what has taken place in the past. I have a hard time believing you can't process a refund back to my credit card and my only option is a lousy gift card. I implore someone at Williams-Sonoma to please make this situation right. read more

Katie wasn't lying, this store really is dangerous. I have been here a few times now and I never made it out the door without having bought at least one thing. I know that this is a chain, and I usually prefer shopping local, but this is a good place to start if you are looking for stylish home decor. You will find it all here: pillows, bedding, candles, kitchen ware and the list goes on. I stopped in here because I have had my eye on a big pink wool pillow. I need this pillow. It will be mine. While I was pricing it, of course they were having a 20% off sale on other bedroom items so I broke down and got myself a throw. Hey, winter is coming. West Elm is such a great home décor shop! They have so many interesting items that you can decorate with, and many practical items such as glassware, dishes, pillows and throws that are just different enough from what you will find at the department stores. I love the variety of items they carry here and have to stop myself from buying all of them. As others have said this store is a little pricey, BUT look at where they are located! They are on the busiest part of Magazine street, so you should expect the prices to be a bit more than you will find in a department. Also, they have some really awesome sales throughout the year. If you can make it to the store when there's a sale you can get some really great items at a better price. I've also had great experiences with the employees. I find them to be very helpful if you can't seem to find what you're looking for on the shelf. Another thing I really love about this store is that they sell items made by local artists. They even have the info about the artists on the shelf next to their items so you can see where is coming from. So, if you're looking for something awesome for your home or for a gift definitely check this place out! read more

I recently purchased some items from West Elm on Magazine Street. The store is beautiful and the sales team is so helpful. I worked with Jessica and Brooklynn and they both were so knowledgeable and kind. The custom sofa bed I ordered came in exactly when they told me. It looks beautiful in my home and I am so thrilled with the quality. The delivery crew was excellent and I was very pleased how easy it was to set up a delivery time with their call center. I want to give a special thanks to the Manager of the store- Jason. His efforts on our behalf were exceptional. West Elm is so lucky to have such a wonderful Manager who cares about his customers. I personally would rather look around until I have a question and then find someone. And I don't think I'm the only one.. so possibly the workers were trying to be considerate of the more introverted customers by not addressing you on entry to the store. read more

I purchased a sofa from West Elm on Magazine St on 10/24/19. Today is 1/10/20. I still have not received my purchase but, was charged for it on 12/25. I have received a couple of auto generated each one with the delivery date pushed out a couple of months. The one today said 2/10- 2/24 which is 6 months from the date of purchase. Customer service is worthless and doesn't follow up as they indicate. Today I emailed the executive board of the parent company - Williams Sonoma. I do not expect a response. This used to be a reputable company.. it no longer is. Too bad I like their inventory but, will not ever shop there again. I suggest you don't either. read more

When we went to visit this store, we walked in and were greeted, but all the employees were standing together chatting. I'm a very anxious person and this immediately makes me feel unwelcome when I am in a store, maybe that's on me, but still. My husband and I knew exactly what we wanted to get, and searched for it but could not figure out where it was. It seemed like no one wanted to help us even as they saw us struggle. We were just talking to ourselves about wondering if anyone would help us. I have no experience in visiting this store itself. I do however have experience in the customer service (via phone) with this store. I wanted to purchase an item that I was unable to find online or in store here in the state that I live in. I called the store earlier than it opened (time difference of 1 hr, my mistake). I spoke with Andre who informed that the store had not yet opened but that once it did I would be called back. No problem. Only he told me this while I was mid sentence trying to explain why I was calling. Thought he was a little curt but hey I'm sure he was getting the store ready to open. I let it go. Fast forward 90 minutes. I didn't get a call back and had to return back to work so I decided to call back to place my order. I again spoke with Andre (who just in tone appeared to be highly agitated that I was calling back). Again, I explained to him why I was calling (I needed an item I thought they had in stock and had been told they had in stock by another store). He looked up the item that I initially wanted and could not find it. I then gave him the SKU number for another similar item which they did have in stock. Andre completed the sale and it was fine. My main issue is his level of annoyance with the fact that I wanted to PURCHASE an item from HIS store that HE works at! What kind of customer service is that?!!! while I LOVE West Elm and all that they stand for, I feel that an employee like this puts a bad taste in my mouth. I don't care if a customer comes in to the store or calls (from out of state, country, etc) they should be treated with respect, dealt with with patience, and not treated like they are annoying the employee. Just my two cents. I could have dealt without the "Well the store who told you we have those shams in stock was WRONG! We have NEGATIVE 2 of those items!" "Oh you still want to buy the king ones? You will need to want the wood-y thing to go next to the glass-y thing to go next to the upside-down re-up-side-cycled other thing. and then offer your entire paycheck in the process. jokes aside, some of the stuff is cool and I really do want, some of it is just nice to look at. I mean I dunno about you, but I don't want to live in a catalog. Cool thing - this store carries local nola stuff. I fsho did rub on some smoke perfume when I saw it! The staff were friendly - they apparently had a big/busy opening but they were still smiles a few days in. Manager was helpful and let me stack a Facebook offer (15% off one item) on top of an existing discount, which brought a sheet set to under $70 - still pricey in my book, but for a better quality than the cheap target set I have now. A small thing tho, some of the store pieces went up fast - so you still see sawdust where they drilled a hole or there's dust on what should be a brand new display. Interestingly all their tags still say SF, I forget if that's how they are at all stores. For what it is, it'll be a treat/splurge store for me. OMiGerd! It's a chain. Not as prolific as its sister Pottery Barn, as I think the next closest is Houston. I'm not here for the pros and cons of a national chain opening on Magazine St. My tax dollars will stay in Orleans Parish, and that's fine by me. A fine store to get ideas and support some locals otherwise found on Etsy. If you are devoid of creativity, they will come to you and handle it all, from delivery to decorating. Bait and switch all the way, unfortunately. I went to the store on Nov. 1st, made selections with a representative who placed the order for me assuring I'd have both pieces of furniture by Dec. 14th. After spending time on the phone for more than an hour on both 12/7 and today (12/16), I still do not have delivery of my furniture nor a clear delivery date before Christmas. Completely frustrated that a company can take nearly $2000 of my money right away, set expectations on delivery and then completely fail to deliver. The fact that one of the two pieces has been sitting at the delivery hub since Nov. 16th is even more frustrating. Why not deliver that piece right away if there were unforeseen problems with the delivery of the second piece? Customer services' solution was to "promise" a $100 store credit at the completion of delivery----so, why not just deliver the chair that's ready and waiting instead??? I already paid $100 for delivery that hasn't happened yet! The topper is that I have company coming in for the holidays and according to customer service my furniture probably won't be here to accommodate. Had I known this on November 1st, I would have gone elsewhere. read more

So.... I love this store... It's pretty much everything I would hope and Adult Shercole house would look like. It's pretty much everything cutesy... The staff is very sweet and helpful and even help give you some ideas for designing up some rooms. They are worth the trip for a little talking action. The items are great, but keep in mind it's not the cheapest thing around. I love that its available on Magazine Street, good location when Im walking in the area and want to stop by. I went to the Grand Opening Party tonight and it was fabulous! Such a fun and festive party! The store is absolutely beautiful with some New Orleans flare. The Garden District store is great and the service is fine. The big problem is the delivery service and customer service in general after the sale. I am speaking of the furniture delivery which is not local. I ordered three pieces of furniture and had to track it down myself, and the customer service reps put you on hold, transfer you, etc.. It took an hour on the phone to get a delivery date for my furniture. I have received my bill and paid it and still no furniture, over a month..... Beware. read more

This store is dangerous!! Everything in here is adorable and I wish I could have a home completely furnished and decorated by west elm. Some items are pricey but there is a wide variety offered with a bunch of affordable options as well. They also have great sales, one time There was a a couple shelves of stuff for only $1.29 including candles, diffusers, knick knacks and other decorations. My favorite was their selection of cute succulents! This place has it all when it comes to home decor, anything you could possibly need for the inside or outside of your home. They even have a restroom available for shoppers to use. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, although when I came in looking for silverware, they only had 3 or 4 options to choose from. I ordered my media console and rug online- huge disappointment!!!! Not only did they ship the wrong rug, the wood on the console is bent!!! And it wasn't cheap!!! I am surprised to learn this is a national chain. We found unique, well-made bedding for our old New Orleans home.
