The views are simply unparalleled -- nearly panoramic and absolutely stunning. The accommodations are comfortable and clean, exactly what you need for a great beach trip. Room 5A is a gem -- no elevator or modern extras, but the breathtaking views more than make up for it. It's an older property and the exterior shows it, but that's part of its charm. For a classic, relaxed beach getaway, the location and scenery are simply unbeatable. We'll always request this room.

Great location overlooking the pier, which was exactly what we were looking for. Staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. We got a great recommendation for pizza at Sonny's, which was amazing. I sleep on a queen at home and am very well aware of the size. When I asked the staff at check out if it was a full, she reassured it was a queen. SMH The bathroom was very spacious, but the shower was tiny and water pressure was weak. Check out time is at 11:00 AM... like most hotels, but we got a call from the front desk at 10:48 AM and housekeeping was at our door by 10:59. I'm giving two stars because the room was clean and the location is close to the beach. It's not in downtown Laguna, but it's walkable or you can use the free trolley.

Room 7, "the boat room" is built like a closet afterthought. A comfortable double bed fills the room. A twin bed is hidden in the cubby under a stairwell. The toilet and mini sink are cloistered in the shower in the corner of the room, with only a partial shower curtain. The worst of it is the constant noise from the heavy metal chairs and tables being scraped and moved on the tile floor in the bar above until 11:00pm nightly. The smell of industrial cleaning fluid permeates the room and hallway. The parking is challenging at best. I really wanted to enjoy this place, but left tired, frustrated and anxious to leave

The time I was there was good housekeeping was attentive when I came to the needs of the room. The balcony rooms will always have the best views if that's your goal. Very close to the downtown so lots of food options nearby along w the Sunday market. Room was very cold at points even w the heaters and the fireplace on but my guess it's because of the tile. I went in the winter but they do offer beach equipment if needed and towels which is always great. Plus the sauna and jacuzzi are always great to enjoy.

They also have rentals available not everyone uses their timeshare not all the rooms and all the weeks are used up. Additionally, they have timeshares for sale. If you're interested I would say the prices for your yearly fees are comparable to any other hotel in their resort area or a beach area so well worth it to pay the timeshare fees and just come down whenever.

First time we've ever had a legitimately cold fridge in any hotel though which was fantastic. You get covered parking in a garage stall. Highly recommend.

The room was so clean with a great shower and the refrigerator and microwave were a huge plus as well as the AC, which kept the room nice and cool. The walk to the beach was three minutes and was perfect for both day and night beach access. Would definitely stay here again. Not to mention the parking is free which is a total bonus in Laguna! Love this place it's a hidden gem especially for the price during the summer!

The bedroom room is not large either but it was me and my BF and it was fine for the two of us. Would be perfect for a solo traveler. Alkaline water fountain in the courtyard area that you can fill your bottles up with! I have never seen alkaline water fountains and now I'm obsessed. In the room, they have a cool pour over coffee set up, a mini fridge and a microwave, and really lovely products (especially love the soap). But, there are some things that needed attention (broken TP holder, grate in shower) and when we checked out we told woman at office, Donna, and she was great and said she would sent the maintenance worker there right away. Had a billing issue but Donna resolved it promptly. They also have a USB port right by the beds which is great cuz we forgot our connector. Room was very clean and the bed is hella comfortable with a down comforter and down throw pillows. They also have a full set of dishes on the table but if you get take out, know you can have full plates. We just went out for food but were good perks. They also have a super comfy Hammock!!! All in all, a small cozy room, nice location and excellent amenities!

I booked a king room the night before I arrived and got a thorough text from Chris about my check in time (which I was granted an early 1p check in without even asking!), parking, amenities and how to use the app for my room key. All points were covered and Chris really set up a seamless, contactless experience. The location was ideal, right across from the Montage resort - open to the public. I walked down to the beach most nights and got a good workout while at it, prepare for stairs. I had dinner at the amazing Starfish Laguna next door to the lodge and got groceries at Gelson's at the same plaza. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. My room was beautiful. Ample seating, a cozy dining area, a kitchenette with a full sized fridge and microwave, beach chairs included in the closet, spacious bathroom (for a solo traveling gal) and a comfy bed with extra blankets in storage. Roku tv included for entertainment. My room was on the farther end of the property, where my view was the edge of a hill lol but I honestly loved the quiet, spacious corner room. Despite the lack of a physical key, I felt very safe in this space and barely noticed sounds from neighbors. I would love to stay here at any time! The hospitality extended from Chris and the product itself were *chefs kiss*.

Established in 1953, the Beachcomber in is quintessential California bungalow motor hotel. It's unique placement on a San Clemente bluff, with panoramic views of the pier and coast are nothing short of stunning. The rooms have full kitchens, king beds, sofa beds and patios with Adirondack chairs, in case being inside, staring through an enormous picture window just doesn't cut it. The staff obviously knows what a special property this is and there is great pride in the presentation and up keep of the grounds. Friendly, welcoming faces morning, noon and night. Because this is a vintage property, maintaining its original build and charm, it does not conform to modern accessibility requirements. Some may find the rooms small compared to modern, chain hotels, but I found everything cozy, comfortable and - dare I say - sumptuous! Given the hospitality of the staff, I'm sure they would do all they could to accommodate any guest. In addition to the amazing evening sunset views of the Pacific, a plus for me, was the Amtrak Surfliner passing through, down below the bluff. Paul Simon may sing, 'Everybody loves the sound of a train in the distance', but I love the sound of a train close by! I find it very soothing and romantic. After the sun has set, it's time to gather around the large fire pit for easy conversations with fellow guests, maybe while you wait for your steaks to grill on one of their guest use BBQs. A lovely, relaxing way to ease into the night. We forced ourselves to leave the property and stretch our legs, walk the pier and roam the shops of nearby Avenida Victoria. But for REAL shopping in San Clemente, we took advantage of the free hop on/hop off trolley that runs seasonally and weekends(see separate review) that picks up just below the Beachcomber, at the San Clemente train stop. Weleft our car parked in our allotted parking space (1 parking space for those staying in Villas #1-12). Disappointing for the price point. The kitchen was a nightmare--grill doesn't work, only 2 out of 4…read moreburners function, knives are dull, and the "fully equipped" space isn't stocked with basics like oil or a baking pan. What is provided? A sad collection of cheap, warped plastic utensils. To top it off, the sink is partially blocked, there is some black mold on the ceiling, and there's peeling paint on the walls. The remote for the sound system doesn't work, and the rugs are filthy. The hose on the deck by the beach to clean off your feat has 2 inches of sand on it so you come out with dirtier feet than when you walked in. It's shocking to encounter this level of neglect at this premium price point. The saving graces are the truly spectacular view of the beach, and easy beach access during low tide. Beds are comfortable enough. Overall, certainly underwhelming for the price point, but despite not meeting our expectations we enjoyed our stay. With just a little more effort this place could really shine.
