I lost 2 pet members within 6 days. West Coast UPS the ashes of my dog and someone had to be there to receive them. The box the ashes are in is beautiful along with the paw print. The package came carefully wrapped. I had to get the ashes for my parrot at the vet-same thing carefully prepared. They generally care for you and your pet member. Recently we lost a good friend and family member. Our sweet dog Bruno. Even though my family is deeply saddened. The process of having our pet handled after his death couldn't of been better. Tom showed up at the time promised. Our cremated dog Bruno delivered in a nice wooden box with his name on it. There was also an additional item. A small clay paw print impression of our dog. Unfortunately, our family dog of almost 15 years passed away this past week and we were grateful to be referred to Guardian Angels. Immediately, Ginger answered my call and offered her condolences and thoroughly explained how the process works. Mike, the owner, was already around our area and said they could be here in the next 30 minutes. We weren't sure whether we were ready to let him go yet, but Ginger assured us that there was no rush and to take all the time we need. When we were finally ready, we made the call and Mike met at our house. He was very respectful, patient, so softspoken and you could tell he is compassionate about what he does. He reassured us that everything would be okay and that he will be taken care of. Two days later we had our Specter back home. Dealing with a family dogs death is hard enough, but Guardian Angels made the experience much less painful. All you need to do is make that call and they will handle the rest. read more

I am so glad we found Guardian Angels. Our boy Jack left us and Guardian Angels made the process seamless. The thought of having to call animal pickup or find something to do with our best friend of 13+ years was very stressful. However, finding GA was a great stress relief. We opted for the private cremation and pickup. The pickup was worth every single penny. I would have paid double. Having to drive my boy Captain Jack after he passed would have been too much. The staff was helpful, friendly, and compassionate, from the people on the phone, to the driver who picked him up, to Mike who dropped Jack off at home. I am SO glad we did this. Where do I start? Seeing how there's not many options in North county for crematories this is a great addition. The crematories that are in San Diego county don't all have good reputations. Some of their facilities are nowhere as clean as Guardian Angels and probably only half the size. Okay so yes Guardian Angels are the new guys in town and a lot of people don't know about them just yet. I give them about 6 months and they will be number one in the county. Mike who is the owner is so passionate about pets and of course people. Right now Mike has a small staff but I'm sure that will probably change once the word gets out about them. I had the chance to take a tour of the new facility and it just blew my mind. This place is so nice, clean and modern. When my pets pass there's no question I'm bringing them here. They have so many services it's crazy! They have the I.D. disk, a necklace with your pets ashes in a bead and several different urns to choose from. It's been a really tough July. Been having expensive car issues and it being my birthday month and then losing our fur baby kitty "Preshie" on July 15, 2018. He was 17 years old. Mike and his work crew were very compassionate and helped to make a difficult situation easier. They offer different options for creamation of your pet. We went with a nice wooden box with a slot to put a picture of our kitty in. We also received a copy of the Rainbow Bridge poem, cremation certificate, a nice letter of condolence, necklace and a candle. I was having car problems and couldn't make it up there when they finished. They made arrangements so I could pick it up after hours. They do a wonderful job and try to work within your budget. Thanks so much. I also wanted to mention that they have pet ambassadors that meet you when you arrive. We were met by a nice dog. I think Cabo was his name that made us smile and made it easier to say goodbye to our fur baby. read more

Guardian Angels pet creation used to be my go to due to how kind and considerate everyone was. Sadly, they were bought out by West Coast Pet Memorial. But you know, I thought It couldn't be too different. I was wrong. They charge more, the craftsmanship of the urn was sloppy--it was banged up and the quote that I asked for was slapped on with flimsy glue so it kept falling off. On top of that, they no longer to the ash beads, which were one of the reasons I was willing to drive almost an hour each time. But the worst...when I came to pick up my baby's remains, the guy who gave him to me was absolutely disgustingly rude. I have pet rats, and the one who passed away was very special to me. I had him for 5 years, and I loved him. The guy gave me back my boy's ashes, looked me dead in the eye, and said "it's good you're getting rid of the rats". WHILE I WAS HOLDING MY DEAD PET! Loosing a pet is never easy, by guardian angels made is easy to cherish our sweet boy one last time. It may seem expensive to opt for the individual cremation, but if you have the opportunity, I would take it. We received a lovely oak box with our baby's name engraved on it, (and a not so flattering nick name lol), a beautiful paw print, (not one of those store bought press-and-bake), a candle, a rainbow bridge poem, and the best part: the second half to a "Best friends" charm. I just received my pets remains. I'm very disappointed. After waiting almost 4 weeks for his return, his remains were put in a cheap red box without a lock and key. His name was misspelled on the plaque and so it had to be done over again. The final product was delivered with his name in upper and lowercase letters. I have several boxes with my deceased pets. All in cedar boxes with their name in all caps lettering. My heart breaks for my dog. He deserves so much better than this presentation . read more

We recently, unexpectedly, lost another family member. We took our guinea pig from the vet to Guardian Angels to make her final journey over the bridge. I was so upset, so my husband went in to drop off our little girl while I waited outside. When he came back to the car, he seemed even more upset. He said that there was a couple in there to pick up their pet's ashes. The lady was crying ( understandably) and the women that worked there, Lesile ( ?), walked up handed the box to them, said nothing, breezed past them to assist him. He couldn't help but notice the callousness of the act. No acknowledgment of them clearly being upset. It was like she was handing over a bag of groceries. There was some confusion with them calling us to pick up our pet. My husband's phone had inadvertently blocked the number. I called AT&T and they said that blocked numbers do not show up on phone records because I was dubious they had even called. This was our fault, not theirs. I was upset because I thought they never bothered to call. This was our mistake...clearly. I was not rude when I called, left a message to check on the ashes, however, the lady that returned my call with regard to the pick-up was rude and "attitudinal" on the phone with me. I have no idea why, but the same kind of nonchalant behavior was happening again. They are ONLY open M to F from 10am to 6pm I think she said. My point to her was that it was not very flexible for pets that have died and need to be dropped off or pet's ashes that need to be picked up. Her response was- the ashes will sit here until you pick them up...like it was a sweater I had ordered. This is a family member that we lost, a sad time, why be so uncaring? I know it's a business but it would have been nice if they had maintained the care and concern we saw when they first opened. My vet Dr Bill Haddock and Ann from ESCONDIDO Hills veterinary helped me contact Mike. I was very distraught about loosing my BoBo. Mike did a nice job in printing exactly what I wanted on the cedar box with BoBo's ashes. Included a sweet poem about the Rainbow bridge. A candle and a sweet letter of condolences. This review is based solely on the ceramic paw print. I generally don't write reviews, but this experience warranted one. I lost my 13 year old pup unexpectedly and we opted for the paw print as a reminder of our sweet boy. The paw print we received was sticky (?)--perhaps unfinished and more heartbreaking was the fact that it was only half of his paw (2.5 toes imprinted). Recieving the paw print this way made me feel as though my boy wasn't treated with the care and time he deserved. Please do better so others in my position don't have to feel like this. Our sweet pet bunny, Poppy, passed away last night. We brought her in to have her cremated privately. The owner of Guardian Angels is very caring, easy to talk with, calming, and very helpful. This crematory also offers placing some of the ashes in Pandora beads for a Pandora bracelet (additional cost), as well as placing the ashes in an urn, a personalized plaque engraving, paw print, and a death certificate. I am very excited to receive my Pandora beads - so I can always wear my sweet Poppy on me. The beads are customizable in size and colors (I will post an updated picture once I receive my bead). When my 120 lb. St. Bernard baby recently passed, the in-home euthanasia Vet, Go in Peace, brought her to Guardian Angels. Apparently some cremation services do not take dogs this large, so I was happy to have Zoey brought to a place with 5 star reviews. She passed away on a Thursday, and her ashes were ready to pick up on Monday. I appreciate the fast turn around, as I had another St. Bernard years earlier pass at a Vets office and paid to have immediate pick up. A week later the dog was still not picked up, to my shock and horror. It is always gut wrenching to have to go through this process, but you hope the cremation is done with as much dignity as possible, and from the other reviews and the owners comments it sounds like this is the case. The building is not marked with the company name so being unfamiliar with Escondido, it was a little hard to find. It would be nice to at least have the Guardian Angels name or logo on the front of the business. I picked the ashes up late Mon. afternoon, and I did not look at the contents until I got home. There was a certificate of cremation stating her date of death and age, however the age was incorrect (stated as 11 even though she was 10) and the note enclosed, which is obviously a form letter, stated a candle was included along with a paw print, charm, rainbow bridge poem, etc. There was no candle in my bag. I really don't care about the candle, I would much rather have more attention dedicated to the service they provide, it is just a little sad to get a form letter type note that states something was being provided that was overlooked. That said, it is a minor thing in the big picture. I have not opened the cedar box yet, however, the box itself and the engraved tag with my dogs name was very nice quality and I appreciate the attempt at making a ceramic paw print, even though it was not the best. In closing, I would just like to say thank you to Guardian Angels for providing the service they do, and from the other reviews being accessible by phone on holidays, evenings, weekends and other off hours that other businesses like this are not. Even though I did not need to utilize this service on off-hours in this case, I have had other pets pass away on a holiday or late on a weekend night and I can not stress enough how comforting and valuable it is to be contacted immediately no matter the time or day of the week when you need your beloved pet picked up and transported, especially in the case of extra large or giant breed dogs. read more

The response from the owner is desperate. I have NEVER set foot in his facility, so he is obviously lying. Our vet hospital made this referral and the selection was made online - there was NO face to face interaction. We let our vet hospital know how disappointed we were, and they confessed that others had also complained. So I doubt our vet hospital refers anyone to him anymore. We fortunately had already done paw prints while our cat was alive and what we had done was a more superior quality. We mistakenly thought we'd get something better if we paid for it. Extremely disappointed. We had two dogs unfortunately pass (about 10 Months apart) and recently had our second dog cremated using this company. We loved the box and presentation of the first. You open it to show the kids it says the name in a nice bag with a flower - so they understand, etc. When you spend part of your life with a pet it's important that you remember them - obviously when you cremate them and bring them home in a box you have similar expectations from your previous experience. Well, certainly different as you can see. Why worry about opening them - I get it. Looks like someone didn't care as much as we had hoped. Bummer. read more

I work a lot with birds, and they have gone out of their way to make sure that bird foot prints are anatomically correct and done with extra care and attention. When our dog passed away, our vet used Guardian Angel. We received the ashes back a couple of weeks later and upon looking at the condition of the ashes, we were shocked and appalled. The previous 4 pets we had cremated at other companies were all handled with what we felt is great care and respect - that is definitely NOT the case here. Upon opening the cedar box the bag inside wasn't sealed, but rather the top bunched together and closed with no more than a grocery store twist tie. All other pets were returned to use very neatly sealed. In our home, our dogs are members of our family, and I expect them to be treated with greater respect than a half eaten loaf of bread. It gets worse - when taking the bag out, ashes were on the outside of the bag and in the bottom of the box. It's quite distressing to pull a bag with your dogs ashes out and have them literally sprinkle down on your clothes and get on your hands. I did call Guardian Angel when this happened. The owner named Mike, answered, and I talked to him about the condition and lack of care in how things were handled. In all fairness to Mike, I was quite distressed and was expressing my feelings in an exuberant fashion. That however does not excuse his reaction - he simply hung up on me. Again to be fair, after hanging up on me, he did send me a text offering to have the ashes placed in a sealed bag. When you have a service that obviously puts you in contact with people who are distressed, you need to be able to handle that with the requisite level of understanding. Guardian Angel is extremely unprofessional, unskilled and deplorable, both in the quality of services they provide, and their communications skills. Update in response to Mike: Mike - I do appreciate your statement that you treat the animals you are entrusted with with great care. You likely are not aware that my wife was present and listening during my call with you. She and I were discussing the phone call last night, and she even commented that she was consoled by the fact she felt like the way you handled our beloved pet was with care, but simple ignorance to what is of the norm in the industry. I don't know how you could feel so threatened as to feel you were in physical danger, we were speaking over the telephone and I did not threaten any form of violence at all. I did say I would do what I can do shut your business down, and I am willing to share with you that I have spoken with my Vet about the handling of our pet by your company, and I also intend to file complaints with the Department of Consumer affairs and possibly the Better Business Bureau. I've since spoken with knowledgeable people in both pet and human cremation industry and one of the comments I received is particularly telling: "I am glad the other provider was able to help you. No way were you being unreasonable. Your beloved pet was mishandled in the worst possible way." Finally, as for the bag being closed with a grocery store twist tie, I was advised to take photographs to include in my complaint to the Department of Consumer Affairs, and I have done so. These show exactly what I've described. I will contact you via a response to your text message and offer to send these to you. I can only hope that things were handled by an employee of yours, that this is something you would find as objectionable as I do and be willing to take steps to correct it for future clients. 9/18/18 A quick update. The owner of Guardian Angel has emailed and texted with me a few times. His original statement that he was scared of me over the phone is ridiculous. His first response in text was to invite me to visit him at his facility. In the final email I received from him, he offered a refund on cremation services after I sent him photos of how things were handled. This includes the twist tie that he just happens to not comment on when he talks about his "special bags". This also included the photos of ashes in the bottom of the box and on the outside of the bag. I would post them here, but honestly, they are quite disturbing when I know that is how my pet was handled, and I'd rather not see them when I log onto Yelp. My response to an offer of refund was to ask that he donate the amount to the San Diego Humane Society. I have no way of knowing if he will or not, I hope he does. read more

We have had three pets cremated over the years. The most recent was this morning at Guardian Angels. It was by far the best experience I have had when dealing with the passing of one of our pets. Our beloved Edmund passed away on 9/11. We called Guardian Angels the same day, and made an appointment for a private cremation at 9:00 a.m. on 9/12. Mike the owner is very down to earth, grounded, straight forward and at the same time, sympathetic and understanding. The environment is clean, well laid out and respectful.
