My sister with her beloved Pearl
    Rachel B.

We are deeply grateful to Dr. Altman for the incredible compassion and care he provided during one of the hardest moments of our lives. He showed immense empathy and gave us the time and space we needed to say goodbye to our beloved Pearl. Pearl was a 15-year-old blue pit, adopted from the San Pedro shelter by my sister when she was just one. From that day forward, Pearl became my sister's best friend, her soul dog, and her eternal companion. Pearl was the center of her universe, adored not only by my sister but also by neighbors, the mailman, and other dogs in the neighborhood. My sister poured her heart into giving Pearl the best life possible--home-cooked meals, a remote job so she could always be close by, and a home without stairs to make her golden years as comfortable as possible. Pearl was so loved and cherished every step of the way. Although her mind remained sharp, Pearl's mobility declined, and when her walking became wobbly, we knew it was time to help her transition peacefully. As a veterinary technician with 15 years of experience, I was especially particular about choosing a home euthanasia provider who would ensure Pearl's passing was gentle and serene. Dr. Altman's approach exceeded every expectation. His drug protocol is thoughtfully designed to prioritize the comfort and peace of his patients. Thanks to his compassionate care, Pearl's journey to heaven was calm and peaceful, surrounded by love. We cannot thank Dr. Altman enough for his kindness and professionalism during this deeply emotional time. He truly gave us the gift of saying goodbye to Pearl in the most beautiful and meaningful way possible.

The Transitions team made my pet's passing very peaceful. Dr. Justin Altman came in with a calm and soothing presence that helped me to hold myself together at a very difficult time. My cat was instantly drawn to him and did not feel intimated, which was a huge relief for me. Dr. Altman never rushed me and let me take my time in saying goodbye. I'm very grateful that I called Transitions to help me give Milo a peaceful passing.

I so appreciated the quick response time to my inquiry, and the ability to get a next day appointment. I appreciated the phone call telling me the vet was on the way. Dr Justin Altman was wonderful. The process was far easier than I imagined because of his genuine kindness, easy going nature and his skill. Losing a pet is extremely difficult and the anticipation of the appointment was hard, even emotionally brutal, but the actual procedure was peaceful and far better than I could have imagined because of Dr Altman. Our cat Puffle, was a legend to all who knew him and he left this world in a manner fitting him-- not a moment too early, not a moment too late, but in perfect timing with loving kindness and acknowledgment of how great a cat he was. Dr Altman made us feel like he had all the time in the world for us. As a registered nurse, I very much appreciated the compassion demonstrated in everything he did and the kindness he showed us, the gentle way he handled our cat. He is definitely a people person and a pet person-- a beautiful and rare combination. The little touch--he offered me the opportunity to carry my cat out to his car, it meant the world to me. And I am so glad I had one more chance to carry my majesic Puffle, to feel his weight in my arms. I imagine it's hard to have a job like this...and I appreciate that there are excellent people willing to do this for pets and their owners. Thank you Dr Altman!! I highly recommend this company and this vet in particular. and would use services again without hesitation.

Just wanted to include a photo of him when he was happy and healthy. This is always how I will remember him.

We said goodbye to my soul cat Stanley 6 weeks ago with Transitions. The whole experience was as positive as something like that could be, and far better than my expectations. I had always feared having to say goodbye on a cold table at the vets in a place he didn't know. Having them come to our house was a blessing. I left a voicemail and was crying, which I'm sure they get daily. They also gave me the option of texting, which is really great when it hurts so bad to get the words out. They gave me enough information about costs, aftercare and what I needed to know for the day. I was able to also make my selections for aftercare through Always With Us, and we will be getting those items this weekend. Justin came to our home and could not have been better. He let me talk about how much my sweet boy meant to me, was so reassuring that I was making the right decision and let it go at the pace I needed. He talked me through the different steps (without too much detail because I really didn't want a ton of information). He was compassionate and a great source of comfort. Some of the things he said have really stuck with me and been helpful in my continued grieving. Transitions also gave me information about how to best assist our other cats. They said it was helpful to do it in the home with them there, and to let them see after it happened. I really think it helped them both. Justin was great about leaving space and time for that. What will go down in my memory as one of the hardest days of my life will always be slightly boosted by Justin and Transitions. I am so glad they were suggested to me, and I would recommend them over and over again.

    Peaceful end,..

Our cat was (omg in past tense now...) antisocial, scaredy-cat since she came to live with us, and that was the part we were most worried about. Didn't want to take her anywhere to stress her out. Josh (if my recollection of your name is wrong, I'm sorry...), the vet, came in the house, Misti, our cat, didn't run or hide but was eager to check him out like she knew why we were there. He set his gear up, and quick shot in butt to make her sleepy. He made her lie down, we all watched surrounding her, playing nice music touching her, and talking to her. He gave the second injection in her hind leg vein after shaving a little. It was really nice peaceful ending for Misti. I called around animal hospitals and other euthanasia services here in SD and OC. The place we thought sounded wonderful wanted to charge $970 with individual cremation and the ashes returned to us. Some places didn't let us keep the body (we took Misti to Humane Society to be group cremated for $15.) Another place wanted to charge late in the day fee $170, for appointment after 4:30. Transitions Vet charged me $300 (as advertised on their website) plus coming out to North County fee of $75, no after hour fees nor weekend up-charge even though our appointment was at 5:30pm on Saturday. And I don't give out 5 Stars easily, but they deserve it. I have another elderly cat ‍ and I will be calling them when her time comes.. Thank you so much

We are so grateful for the care provided to our girl Layla by Justin. I can not begin to thank him enough for the kindness and empathy he provided my fiancé and I regarding Layla's condition. Justin is so passionate and loving towards animals and made us feel more secure in our decision for Layla's care. This has been one of the hardest moments of our lives and I couldn't have imagined a more peaceful and comfortable way to help Layla rest.

    Koda (first fur baby)

Losing a pet is one of the worst feelings to ever have in your life. Especially since it was our first fur baby, he was diagnosed with lymphoma and had a very fast and progressive form. Transitions In Home Pet Euthanasia was able to provide us with an appointment the next day, as I had requested. Justin was very knowledgeable and made the experience easier than what we had imagined it was going to be. Thank you guys for helping us with this chapter in our lives.

We are so grateful that we chose Justin and Christine to guide us through such a difficult time. Our beautiful German shepherd Layla deserved the best until the very end and Justin was able to provide just that. He talked us through the entire process with great compassion and reassured we were making the best possible decision for Layla. While it is a heartbreaking time no matter what, it is very comforting to know our girl left us while in the peace of her own home. Thank you to the whole Transitions Vet team for the service you provide in such a warm manner.

Two fur babies who have been promoted over the .

It was so peaceful. I couldn't have asked for more thoughtful care from them. Every interaction with them made a painful process comfortable for me and at peace with how well cared for my girl was as she went to sleep one last time. For the last pup that I went through this with, the company I used was not good at all, which I only mention to say that who you choose makes ALL the difference!

Always With Us Dr. Justin Altman was absolutely amazing in helping us with the passing of my boyfriend's 10-year old rottweiler Odin. I was initially hesitant in doing euthanasia at home, but I am so glad I did as it turned out to be so much more meaningful. Odin was comfortable and less scared, surrounded by family and friends. Justin showed compassion and explained everything gently and clearly. He gave us time to grieve and process our dog's passing. The most impressive part was when we brought our dog to his car, the trunk of the car had pillows and blankets and simply looked like Odin was just asleep. What a beautiful experience to have to remember our dog by. I highly recommend Always With Us Transitions Veterinary Services.

But our most recent experience was enough to make us leave for good. We had a same-day appointment for my dog's injured paw. We were running late, got a voicemail from the clinic, and called back. We were told we could still come in but would be charged a $39 late fee or $85 to reschedule. We showed up anyway -- and were made to wait over an hour before being seen. When my boyfriend asked to have the fee waived, they refused and told him it was because we had a "no call, no show" on record from over a year ago. We have zero recollection of ever missing an appointment, and when I checked my email and texts, there is no record of any notification about a no-show. Yet that was used to justify denying any grace on a $39 fee for long-term clients who showed up and waited over an hour. I get that clinics use late fees to hold clients accountable -- that's fair. But we are long-term clients who, to our knowledge, have never missed an appointment. No exception was offered until I said I wouldn't be coming back, at which point they suggested I could maybe speak to a manager to get it refunded. At that point, I was over it. A $39 fee is not worth losing loyal, multi-pet clients over. Life happens. Good businesses know that. We won't be back

Over the…read moremany hours dealing with my own dog I've watched, seen, spoke to countless other patients and of course the Vets and staff. It's a large practice with ER Vets without ER prices. This is going to be a long review. My dog had an autoimmune disease that makes his body attack platelets. Basically without them you're going to die. Steroids and other immune suppressants are given in high doses which suppresses the immune system and can result in infections. My dog ended up one day collapsing out of the blue, no warning, no swelling the night before, and now a massive arm overnight. We rushed him down and it was a septic staph infection. A septic staph infection without a functioning and highly supressedimmune system in a 12 year old dog. Over two days Buddy's arm was drained and flushed under general anesthesia as subsequent infection pockets popped up . A culture was taken but we wouldn't know the results for days. Two broad spectrum antibiotics were picked from their experience and what they were seeing, a highly educated assumption of what would most likely work with the infection. Well, one of them was the correct choice and my dog that would most likely die didn't die. I might add that there ended up only being a few medication that the infection was susceptible to, and they picked again the right one. My dog at this point was very high risk after everything that happened to him especially due to his long term high dose Prednsione use that had deteriorated his body. He was a shell of the dog he use to be and had even gotten steroid induced Cushings. I couldn't put him through the steroids anymore and after the infection had subsided his platelets started to rapidly decrease again. B Street granted him his only chance of survival, a splenectomy. He not only made it through the surgery but immediately went in to remission. Since NOV 8th he has had a platelet count above 600k. Because Buddy is Buddy his liver enzymes went through the roof post splenectomy (hospitalization levels) and they chose the perfect concoction of medications including Urdosoil, mik thistle, and NAC which worked. His enzymes were so high it took nearly a month to get out of the severe danger zone, but he did. Four months later they are on the high end of normal with two still decreasing but of no worry. Dr. V at last recheck called them "boring", I like boring test results. Staff: every single person is not only excessively talented but good people. I'm not naming people because there are too many that are phenomenal and I feel like I will leave someone out and feel bad about it. I'm not a sunshine and rainbows person, I'm generally pretty negative (something I'm working on). This place is the only place I trust, that's it. A few reviews mention wait times. I never see this talked about...B Street is a trauma center with non-trauma prices, actually incredible prices. They are great with every day worries and treat animals with gastrointestinal, skin issues, normal every day concerns but if a dog or cat had a seizure, hit by a car, not able to breathe, etc. it's all hands on deck and that dog or cat is rushed in. This isn't a "normal" Vet this is where you go if you are okay with waiting and want your dog or cat to have the best care they possibly can have. I know going in there that I'm going to most likely wait and with every incredible thing I've seen here I will wait as long as I need to. Starbucks down the street is my best friend and I've worked in the Vet's office with my laptop countless times. People go here because they know how great the Vets are, the staff, just everything. I also saw a post where someone said they didn't spend time with the Vet. I don't get this unless you're expecting a 30 minute conversation about a routine everyday issue. I understand that everyone has likes when dealing with a Vet and if you want that private room, with the in depth conversations about basic things, where there are two dogs in the lobby, this place may not be for you. While I personally like all those things myself I would rather go to the place where they have the best vets and staff in SD who can handle everything from basic to emergency and don't miss things like they do at other Vets. If I haven't mentioned this yet they are open 7 days a week and on most holidays as well. If your dog needs surgery, a second opinion, has standard needs, or you're ready to move Vets check out B street. These aren't just my opinions, I've spoken to countless others with dogs and cats who feel the same way I do. They won't go anywhere else.

During the visit, the clinic suggested doing a simple sanitary clean-up around the rear area to help keep him clean while he was sick. I agreed to a small trim in that specific area only. Instead, my puppy was returned to me with large portions of his back and tail completely shaved, along with RAZOR BURNS and visible spots of BLOOD. For anyone familiar with Pomeranians, this is extremely concerning. Pomeranians have a delicate double coat, and shaving large sections of their coat can seriously affect how their fur grows back. My dog already struggles with slow and uneven fur regrowth, which the clinic was aware of. There was absolutely no reason to shave half of his back and tail for a sanitary clean. When my dog stands or walks, the damage is extremely obvious. The shaved patches are far larger than anything that was discussed, and his skin looks irritated from the clippers. Seeing my puppy like this was heartbreaking. I literally burst into tears when they brought him out. I paid over $500 for tests and medications during this visit, and this is the condition my puppy was sent home in. I trusted B Street Veterinary Clinic with my dog's care. What happened today was NOT what I consented to and completely UNACCEPTABLE for a professional veterinary clinic. I am sharing photos so other pet owners can see exactly what happened during what was supposed to be a routine sanitary trim. Pomeranians require extra care with their coats, and situations like this should NEVER happen during a routine sanitary clean.

Dr. Karen Kurowski and her incredible team--Lindsey, Nate, Sunny, Hyda, and the other compassionate vet techs--have been a lifeline. They gave me a clear plan to follow, supported me with each step, and have truly helped sustain Sassy's life. She is now on the right medications, and I give her fluid injections every other day as her "second kidney." Because of their care, Sassy has been able to live not just longer--but better. What I love most about this hospital is that it feels less about money and more about what's right for the animal. Veterinary care can be expensive, especially when you have multiple cats like I do. But here, I have always felt they try to keep costs reasonable and make sure I'm not overwhelmed. They are honest, practical, and thoughtful--always focusing first on the well-being of my pets. That kind of integrity means the world to me. Today, Sassy is thriving in her "fourth quarter." She doesn't know she is ill. She lives with joy, gratitude, and happiness every single day. It is my honor to care for her, and it is thanks to Dr. Kurowski and her team that she is enjoying this chapter of her life so fully. For anyone looking for a veterinary office that combines expertise, compassion, and fairness, Scripps Ranch Veterinary Hospital is that rare place. I've heard about some Veterinarians who tend to pad their bills with extra services and items, but until this visit I hadn't really experienced it. We brought our older (and basically healthy) dog in today because she was sick on Thursday (vomiting food & water). She felt better on Friday and today, but we brought her in anyway to get checked out. Cue the huge bill! The original estimate on the high side was $1300, and we had them lower that estimate by a few $100 by removing a couple of services including xrays. Then after she'd been there for a few hours, they indicated that she needed more tests to the tune of nearly $1000. We had them do most of them, but not all. As I'm writing this on Sunday, Cali is feeling much better, she's now on a low-fat diet, and the tests that they did all turned out negative. (We're still waiting on the results of the urinalysis.) Thank goodness, but jeez... They also negatively impacted my bank account. I'm glad my dog is feeling better, and she's worth any cost honestly, but I sincerely feel that some of things they did were not necessary, and didn't need to be done this time, or could have been pushed forward and a determination about their necessity could've been made after we made some changes and monitored her. It is what it is at this point, but I just suggest that you pay close attention to the estimates and bills at this Vet Hospital, and knowing your pet, make the right decisions for them, whatever they may be.
