We left to think about this costly procedure. She also told me I should buy the intelident chews for $16 from her office because the brand she sold was pharmaceutical grade and only could be obtained in her office . I did purchase it. Then at home watching the video clip we saw the entire time she spent with my cat was 6 minutes which mostly I talked . At no point she examined my cat . She didn't touch the body, skeletal, neurological response, she didn't listen to lungs and heart . Didn't use her stereoscope at all. Then I called the office and asked Liz at the front desk to forward me the medical notes . She did . In this record Dr. Dodd noted there was no heart murmur and lungs were clear. Lymph nodes within normal limits and etc. she noted things that she had not examined . I called the office back and told Liz that I was calling to give Dr. Dodd an opportunity to set things right ( didn't ask for a refund ). Hoping for a 2nd visit . Dr. Dodd called me back and said this office wasn't for us and she reimbursed the $80 visit . By the way the inteldent product she sold me for $16 is available on Amazon for $8. In good conscience I felt important to leave this review that maybe this office, not only is not for me but also is not a fit for other cat owners who are looking for a quality care.

I've noticed MVH has been getting quite a few negative reviews lately, and I can't help but wonder if certain individuals' actions are reflecting poorly on the entire team. After bringing my cat, Nori, here for the past two years, I want to recognize the staff members who have genuinely made a positive difference in our experience. Dr. Herschi has been an amazing veterinarian who has helped me tremendously while navigating Nori's epilepsy. I'm incredibly grateful for her knowledge, care, and support. Brandy was also wonderful when Nori had her dental procedure. She was professional, communicative, and reassuring, providing me with multiple updates while Nori was in her care. As any pet owner knows, leaving your fur baby for a procedure can be stressful, and those updates meant so much to me. Last but not least, I want to give a shout-out to the veterinary assistant with the lip piercings. I consistently see her working hard, staying on top of things, and making sure people are helped promptly and kindly. She clearly takes pride in her job and cares about the animals and their owners. If the owner of MVH sees this, please respond with her name so I can give her the recognition she deserves! The reason I'm writing this review now is that I picked up Nori's medication today, and the experience (on top of reading the recent negative reviews) left me a little disappointed. Upon walking in, a staff member finished helping a customer without once acknowledging me before walking into the back. Shortly afterward, the veterinary assistant with the lip piercings promptly came over, greeted me, and helped me get Nori's medication without any hassle. It may seem like a small thing, but simple courtesy and acknowledgment go a long way. I hope management takes the recent feedback from the other reviews seriously and addresses any issues with professionalism and negligence. It isn't fair for the hard work of genuinely caring staff members to be overshadowed by the actions of others. Dr. Herschi, Brandy, and this veterinary assistant have all made a meaningful difference in our experience at MVH. I'm grateful for their care, for helping me manage Nori's epilepsy and ensuring she gets the medication she needs, and for making the prescription pickup process quick and easy. Please request one of these three(depending on what you are going in for) if you are concerned about booking an appointment here, they will not let you or your fur baby down. After a week my dog still didn't behave right and was suffering. They of course charged hundreds of dollars. I took him back and the other vet found out it was a bee sting. They charged me hundreds of dollars and never apologized for having misdiagnosed the first time nor reimbursed me for the ear drops they made me put on his ears that he never needed and made him suffer. I immediately emailed the clinic with a few photos, and within 20 minutes I had both an email response and a phone call (just in case I missed the email), along with an appointment confirmed for 8am the very next morning with enough time reserved to perform an extraction if needed. The responsiveness alone was impressive. At drop-off, the surgery technician, Jorge, was incredible. He was knowledgeable, personable, and immediately put us at ease, especially since this was Ruby's first surgery requiring anesthesia. During our conversation and bringing up a certain topic, he mentioned he recently attended a dental conference which reassured us that the team is committed to continuing education and staying current with best practices. Dr. Gertz, whom Ruby has seen previously for routine care, was wonderful as always. She performed the initial exam, confirmed that the tooth appeared fractured, and explained that the team would call with a definitive diagnosis once dental X-rays had been completed. The treatment plan was straightforward - anesthesia, dental X-rays, bloodwork to ensure levels were appropriate before surgery, and a cleaning with extraction if necessary. A few hours after drop-off, we received a call confirming that the tooth was indeed fractured, although surprisingly still alive. Dr. Luna took the time to thoroughly explain the findings and our options. At no point did we feel pressured. She clearly outlined the pros and cons of proceeding versus monitoring the tooth and explained that leaving it untreated would likely lead to problems in the future. After discussing everything, we decided to move forward with the extraction since she was already under anesthesia. No more than a few minutes later, the team called again because they realized the cost of the updated treatment plan had not been reviewed. I actually hadn't noticed because I already trusted that the recommendation was medically appropriate and that the pricing would be fair (which it was). Still, I appreciated their transparency and professionalism in making sure every detail was discussed before proceeding. When we picked Ruby up around 2:00pm, Jorge spent considerable time reviewing her full-mouth dental X-rays with us and explaining exactly why the extraction was recommended. It was fascinating to learn more about canine dentistry, and we left feeling far more informed than when we arrived. He answered all of our questions patiently and thoroughly (even the ones that were already covered in the aftercare packet we had just been handed!). We also were given a full sized sample of a recommended oral rinse for regular maintenance. Ruby recovered exceptionally well from the surgery, which was a huge relief. She had previously undergone sedation prior to X-rays at another clinic years ago and did not have a great experience, so we were naturally nervous. This time, her recovery was smooth, the extraction site is healing beautifully, and she came home comfortable with appropriate pain medication. She has shown no signs of discomfort throughout the recovery process. I also want to recognize Lauren at the front desk. She was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful throughout the process. She worked with us to ensure detailed notes were included in Ruby's chart to help prevent potential insurance issues and even went a step further by following up with the doctor after we left to request additional documentation that could support a smoother claims process. That level of attention and advocacy is rare and deeply appreciated. Overall, this was an outstanding experience from start to finish. We even received a call a few days after her surgery to simply check in on her recovery. From the front office staff to the technicians and veterinarians, every person we interacted with was compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in Ruby's well-being. The communication was outstanding, the care was exceptional, and we never once felt rushed or pressured. Ruby is family to us, and the trust we place in those caring for her is not something we take lightly. We are incredibly grateful for the entire team and feel completely confident entrusting them with the health and care of both of our dogs. It's because of her that this clinic lost our business. She was short and not very helpful. We ended up going to the VCA in Escondido (Acacia) and had a really good experience from the first phone call to check out. It's all about touch points with clientele and from the first touch point with Tri-city, we were disappointed. Not even because they couldn't get us in same-day, but mostly because of the woman on the phone completely FAILING at her job. My wife and I hung up and both said synonymously, "we will never take our pets there." After answering questions, the receptionist said yes please absolutely bring her in. I drove 20 minutes to their urgent care, parked, brought my cat in and the receptionist says oh actually I'm sorry we can't see any more pets today. I was soooooo disappointed and felt so bad for my cat!!! I left with my cat back to my car hunting for available urgent cares to see my cat. Ended up at Monhacky Animal Hospital in Carlsbad in major traffic thanks to Fredddie's Place telling me to come bring my cat in, only to turn us away 20 minutes later. Unreal!! Thanks to you, my poor sick cat cried and cried more due to much more time in the car.

I never realized how much being truly heard mattered until our appointment with Dr. Chung Min Huang and assistant Natalie. I've never had issues with being heard before, but this experience was different. The compassion, patience, and attention shown to both me and older pup Kori meant more than I can express. We've had some less than great responses from our previous vet office and decided to give North County Animal Hospital a try based on their reviews and convenient location. The office was very clean and tidy, but the waiting room could prove to be a challenge if a lot of pets come in at the same time. The staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. We had scheduled an appointment the day before, so the wait was not long at all. We were brought into the examining room which was quite spacious. Our dog was extra anxious so there was some difficulty getting his vitals. We met with the practicing doctors Hylton and King. Dr King was very thorough and after additional failures to get his temp, they decided it was best to take him to the back were he could be away from us and hopefully more calm. That did work very well. Blood/lab work and imaging was required for full diagnosis, and Dr King had some other recommendations which we chose to bypass. As you'd expect, pet health care can be quite expensive and you need to be well informed to avoid extra costs if not needed. Overall, I was pleased with the level of service and care offered at North County Animal Hospital. We also paid to get his nails trimmed which was something we had been struggling to get done on our own. He has been getting better from his ailments as well.
