Not so bad if you're only in there for 15 min but after an hour, you have to open the door just to breathe. 2) The TV in the lobby is too loud. The people working the counter can hear YOU through the glass partition, but are not aware that your ears are competing with the TV just to hear what they're saying back at you. Another customer came in just after us with a dog whose eye had popped out of the socket. :-( They also had difficulty hearing anything from the counter staff thanks to that TV. Maybe a nice, quiet video loop of relaxing/calming scenery, flowing water, etc.? I can't hear over David Attenborough's voice and that's saying a lot since he's a fairly soft-spoken guy.

When the staff spoke with us, his response was dismissive and showed no compassion. He even asked if bloody diarrhea was our only concern, despite us clearly explaining how serious her symptoms were. When I described Peanut's symptoms to the front desk staff, she immediately tried to assume it was a seizure, even though that was never part of her symptoms. After 45 minutes of waiting, the staff told us the doctor was ready and asked us to hand over Peanut. We were confused as to why we couldn't be present for the initial exam, but we complied. Another 30 minutes passed, and when we asked for an update, we were told the doctor was with another patient and Peanut was "next." Then Peanut vomited blood again, so she was taken back immediately and again we were told she was next. We waited another hour, and by this time it was 12:30 AM with still no care provided. At that point, we were frustrated and concerned for her safety, so we decided to leave and find another urgent care. We found WAG Animal ER, only 8 minutes away, with the same $100 exam fee and no wait. The difference was night and day. The staff there was kind, compassionate, and professional. Peanut was seen by a doctor within 5 minutes. And the Dr even called us 3 days later to check on her status.

First and foremost, "individual cremation" is not actually individual cremation. It is partitioned cremation. "Private" is what I would consider truly private. The distinction is incredibly frustrating because the word "individual" naturally implies that a pet is cremated separately, not simply separated or partitioned from other pets. I had to put my dog, Winston, down on Wednesday. I specifically told the vet that I wanted an individual cremation, not a communal cremation. I then paid for what I believed was an individual cremation through the Eternal Memories website--not West Coast Pet Memorial's official website. Scam #1 . Nowhere on the site I used did I see that individual meant partitioned. I only discovered what was actually happening because I wanted to know where Winston was in the process on Friday. Had the company provided updates like other pet memorial companies do, I probably never would have known. Once I found out, I spent the entire weekend worried and praying that they had seen my email and would not cremate him until I could figure out what to do. Because the company was closed for the weekend, I had no way to get answers. I was literally considering picking Winston up and taking him to Sorrento Valley Pet Memorial, which sounded like a much better option. They offered truly private cremation, at approximately the same price, without the confusing terminology. They also offered the option for me to be present and actually watch the cremation. At that point, that felt like the only way I could know for certain that the ashes I received were Winston's. I know I was not in the right headspace . Monday morning, I finally received a call telling me that I could pay an additional $120 to have a truly private cremation. At that point, I honestly didn't have the energy to fight anymore. I had already spent days worrying about this and had come to terms with the fact that what I wanted for Winston might not be honored. I am incredibly disappointed by this entire experience. The terminology and pricing should be completely transparent. I received Winston's ashes in a "beautiful" blue bag, but will always have the doubt it's not Winston.

On Friday morning, I drove to their location on Crestmar with about 25 small sunflowers so that Cali could have a proper & meaningful sendoff, fitting for a 60# rescue dog who became my sun & stars. Angelica received the flowers and was very kind to me. She could see that I was in mourning & her gentleness was appreciated. She let me know that Cali would be ready in about a week, and I drove away with tears streaming down my face. A few days later, I received a call and email letting me know that Cali was ready. They asked if I could pick her up or if I wanted be to be delivered. Delivery required a signature, and so that was not an option. They're open from 9-5 Monday to Friday, and so I opted to pick her up. Angelica helped me again, and I brought my girl home today. She's in a little wooden box inside of a velvet bag. I also received the two clay paw prints that I ordered. The cost for these services was over $400. I don't know what the going rate for this sort of thing is, but West Coast treated my girl & me with care and dignity. This is the kind of service that we don't think about until we need it, and we're probably not in the best frame of mind when we do. There is a big business of pet memorial services & items so just be aware, and make your selections carefully. I say this mostly in response to some of the other reviews that were gobsmacked about the costs but also purchased every memorial item possible. My experience was as positive as it could be given the circumstances. Thank you & peace.
