Lost my internet on Saturday late in the day! I left a couple messages on their answering machine and got a call back on Sunday! They sent Jeff one of their techs out on Monday! He was awesome!! Very nice, fixed our problem instantly and we are back on line! Jeff did a great job!!! My only complaint is the Company needs to update their website, it's actually useless! I've been having problems with my Internet connection since we moved into our manor in Laguna Woods Village two months ago. I called WCI about 1:00 this afternoon and spoke with Tracy. Within ten minutes, she had diagnosed the problem remotely--my cable modem wasn't up to spec, and we arranged to have a tech come out next Monday to check out the condo cable wiring and install the new modem. Tracy had very good customer relations skills, and she knows her tech well. Tracy called back a little later in the afternoon and let me know that, due to a cancellation, a tech could swing by this afternoon. Jeff was very professional and found several problems with the wiring, which he fixed on the spot. His customer service skills were very good, as well. After a few minutes, he had my Internet speeds up to the level specified by my service plan. I'm very impressed with how well and how quickly my Internet problem was diagnosed and fixed. I received quality, professional help from the team at West Coast Internet. Tracey, Peter and Gabe stand out, but others pitched in as well and deserve thanks and praise. We moved into Laguna Woods at the end of August, and immediately needed functional internet for Zoom meetings. The Pandemic made everyone's life challenging. I bought a Modem and router from private parties, since a couple days waiting would be a problem. At first I was unable to find a new Modem, and thought a used one would be OK. I was wrong. After lots of calls, nashing of teeth, and tension, it turned out the modem was bad. With help and coaching we isolated it down to the modem, replaced it with a new one and now we're very happy. The team at West Coast Internet did a great job and we are lucky to have them. PS: If you have gotten this far and are still reading, I assume you're a resident or moving to Laguna Woods. Take my advice, if you're moving in: Get your TV hooked up to the cable outlet/outlets and run a channel scan and verify you have 150+ channels. That knowledge will remove lots of doubt as you're sorting out the Cable Modem connection. You want to know you're not dealing with a disconnected system. have used them because they are the only provider to Laguna Woods (what a racket) my router is not connecting, I get dropped all day long and they tell me every time I call that I am connected. Cant help but will be happy to change me $80. to come out and take a look. I am currently unemployed and have to use my cell phone data to look for work then the screen is so small its hard to get all the details done. I like to use my laptop and can't even keep it connected to my HOTSPOT of my cell. UGHHH They can't mail me a new router or modem, apparently I purchased them when I signed up. They do NOT give any kind of credit to your bill if your service is down cause for some reason they see that you are CONNECTED.. Paying or should I say "throwing away" money I can't really afford to throw away is beyond me. Really upset that I can't get a replacement. Tried all he troubleshooting tips sent by Netgear to me and nothing is working. I can't speak to their services as I don't use them. However I did call customer service to help my grandparents who I was visiting at the time and having service problems. She came across as uninterested in helping me solve my issue. She took every opportunity to assume her job was finished and to end the call. I had to push back just to keep her on the line. God forbid you waste a moment of her time because she'll interrupt the silence after just a moment to ask what's taking so long. I felt it was time to have my router updated and so I requested a service call to have a technician deliver and install it. Not only did Ruben do a fantastic job setting it up, but he also checked the house for wiring issues- (house built in 1965) but he also installed a new cable splitter and neatened up the jumble of cables and cords behind the TV. read more

I called West Coast Internet because they were doing some construction in Laguna Woods and SCE did something I work from my house and had to be on a conference call, I was freaking out I left a message at 5:00AM and the OWNER Paul called me back around 6:15............Now this is unheard of, he was so helpful and kind.I will recommend this company to everyone. The internet service provided is mediocre at best. Their support service is non-existent. If your Internet goes down, you are on your own to fix it until the next business day. The tech line goes straight to voice mail that I suspect is just somebodie's cell phone. There is zero tech support. Their homepage is straight out of the 90's, and there is no way of knowing if there will be scheduled maintenance or down times. The worst part is that there is no alternative in Laguna Woods. Their monopoly on service is only legal because AT&T technically offers service, but the internet speed is roughly 1 mbps. Worst IP I have ever experienced, worse than even Cox. When I was getting set up, they were very nice. When I reduced my faster speed, they were OK...service was intermittent at best. When I called customer service, the woman was just a monster. Won't swear but you get the point. Rude, arrogant and off putting. You shouldn't be concerned about this she growled in response to a question I had. When I mentioned that I was 3 feet from my router(their router) and my reception was 73%, she said what did I expect from my phone? I was on my computer. Speeds vary radically for no particular reason. Rated at 25 Mbs+, this is rarely realized. In a typical 7-day period, connection speed is about 3 Mbs out of 4 days (randomly) and 20 Mbs, sporadically, the rest of the time. Average speed today (using beta speed test online) is about 1 Mbs. I called to ask them for an explanation and they offered to send out a technician for a minimum of $80/hour to check cabling (and a recently upgraded cable modem - installed by them). This, of course, makes no sense at all. The management at Laguna Woods should demand these guys get their act together or switch providers in favor of their tenants. Hey LW Managment, why not put this out to bid and get a real internet service provider? read more

I have been a broadband customer since the early 90's in multiple geographic locations. I have never had a more unreliable service than that from West Coast Internet. As I type this on my cell phone at 7pm, my connection (and I suspect the whole community's service) has been down since before 9am. Calling tech support today had yielded the same recorded message... High cost $59 for slower speed than any other provider but we are stuck with this one choice. 50 percent of the time I get the circling wheel of death when trying to reach a website. My wireless device always blinks yellow meaning I have to unplug and reset it. I noticed that either West Coast or a hacker sent me a message to enter a survey sort of like those "your computer has been infected" notices you get from some bad sites. A very sketchy company. I've used West Coast Internet for many, many years. I often have to leave a message for tech support, but I usually get a call back soon enough and get very thorough and helpful tech support as soon as someone calls back. I don't have to wait on hold forever or listen to someone I can barely understand on a bad connection. I get people at the company who are usually able to more than solve my problem and give me great information to help me use my service. I'm happy with my service there and have had very few problems over the years I've needed tech support for. I find it very annoying that people come on Yelp to rant and vent about one experience as if they've been horribly wronged. Every company has a problem now and again. Yes, there have been a few mistakes they've made over the years, but if you want me to compare it to Uverse which I also have, or horrific tech support issues I've had with AT&T that caused my internet to be down for days and days due to one incredibly simple problem with my connection that 15 tech support people missed, including a house call, well West Coast Internet ROCKS in comparison. read more

We use it because there is no other option, but it is sure unstable! They have you pay for certain speeds and claim you will be throttled down to 1.5 mps when you reach 100gigs in any month cycle. Instead, my internet slows down to 1/3 of a mps (about 30 kbs) halfway through each month when my glasswire monitor clearly shows I haven't even used 30 gigs yet. So for half a month you can't even stream video on one device, and for the first half of the month when the speed is good the connection is so unstable it goes down up to 100 times per day. For weeks at a time there is no connection at all available after 5pm (of course that is when the support line rings into voicemail). If you have any other option, take it! read more

Well If you live in Laguna Woods you are stuck with West Coast. I'm paying 50 bucks a month for 15mg and I get that maybe 2 times a day. They are just plain horrible. I loose connections at least 5 times a day and forget streaming as they can't keep a signal stable for any length of time. If you live in laguna woods please contact GRF and complain complain, as it seems they have some kind of kickback or something. I just sent a complaint to the FCC and I urge all residents of Laguna woods to do the same. So I pay for 15mg which is old school and get maybe 5mg, and if all the users in the Village check they will see they are getting ripped really bad. read more

Just moved to Laguna Woods and am very bummed to find out how bad the service is. I was paying the same from one of the most hated cable companies in the country yet got 10 times the speed and 99.99% reliability. I am particularly saddened to see this problem will likely never be resolved. Made clear by how long this is going on. Wonder if LW is locked into a long-term contract. The supreme court just ruled that internet access is a basic right. Not so here. Made all the more confusing by the fact that everything else here is top notch. read more

Absolutely horrible experience! I cannot reach these people to ask a simple question. I have contacted their different numbers and even emailed them multiple times. I have called each of their numbers and left messages at least twice a day for the past SEVEN days. I have yet to hear from them and wonder if they even still exist??? Their website is running, phones are ringing, answering machines running, yet no one will respond. If any service at all, there is certainly no customer service. With such horrible customer service, I would not normally attempt even a third call. One star only because negative stars don't exist. Told I had to upgrade to a docsis 3 modem to get the ten down/two up I upgraded to. I've been in this business long enough to know docsis 2 goes to mid-30's. (It's a Motorola SurfBoard 5101.) Called support on that BS. Was told it was their firm POLICY that anyone over 5/1 HAD to upgrade to their docsis 3 modem. I believe they also hi-jack erroneous dns requests and substitute their own. Not sure since I ALWAYS run through PIA vpn. At one point they screwed up their routing and killed vpn connections WCI is the absolute WORST ISP. And I've been on the Charter/Spectrum/TWC nets. Even worse is that I believe AT&T laid fiber throughout the area. (Laguna Woods) I cannot say enough about how horrible WCI and their equivalent cable service is here in LW. If I could put a satellite dish up, I could make a million dollars selling better service to my neighbors. What a surprise ... another 1 star rating. My mom recently moved to Laguna Woods and had an issue with the initial connection to the router provided by this company. No big deal ... I'll call up the company and get it resolved. When you speak with "local people in San Juan" you get normal concerned people that I believe truly care about their reputation with Laguna Woods ... HOWEVER ... when the local people connect you to their Customer Techical Support" in Ontario Canada ... anything positive about the Company goes to sub-zero. I got Josh in Ontario Canada who's specialty is over-talking everything I said. He didn't hear one word that came out of my mouth. Rudely over-talked the entire conversation. I was so blown away by this guy I put the call on speaker so others in her house could hear this jerk. For years we all have heard " This conversation may be recorded for quality purposes " ?? Not here ... if his boss heard the way he spoke to customers he'd be fired today. He had absolutely zero desire to help. He didn't listen at all and loudly over- talked me the entire time. I can't imagine all the senior citizens taking s*#t from Customer Support Reps from this Company. Josh was everything a Company does not want in an employee. But seriously ... no one cares ... they have plenty of customers. He is the worst I have dealt with in years. Kinda makes me laugh how he chose Service or Support as a career path. My guess is that every call he gets he will handle the same way. You poor people in Laguna Woods. OMG...thought after CenturyLink it could not get any worse...then I moved to Laguna Woods and discovered it sure can! I work from home, have lived her a month, and was told this is my only option. I have lost service a few times, speed not what I'm paying for...but the final straw was when I was having an issue with my HP printer not printing/scanning properly, and was told after an hour screen share session with HP that it was the router settings on my wireless router from WCI that was the issue and they needed to come out and adjust something. I called WCI, the lady very rudely told me we don't fix printers (no kidding???), and after 10 minutes of debate agreed to send a tech person out. What she failed to mention was the email I received a few days later (he didn't completely resolve the issue, but was a nice guy and I didn't press him to get it completely right because I felt it was now on HP to fix and since I pay for a service contract, that would be a freebie! I almost hit the roof when I received an email from WCI advising they credited by cc on file for $350. for the home visit....really folks???? This is highway robbery. I would not even give them one star...like others have said...run don't walk from this company. read more
