What started as a promising, well-structured program turned into a deeply disappointing experience. My son, who had progressed steadily, began receiving inconsistent evaluations after a management change. Despite attending summer camp daily, his evaluation showed a regression--with no clear explanation. When I raised concerns, I was met with defensiveness and vague responses also surprisingly rude attitude. Communication with instructors was discouraged. While the instructors seem capable, the system feels rigid, opaque, and dismissive of parent feedback. We gave this program six months of patience and good faith. Great program with great staff. While there may be reviews about the registration process, I think that's really unfair as signing up for anything is always stressful. West Coast is such a great swim program. Their class sizes are small and the instructors very experienced and attentive to each student's level and abilities, working with them until they master the skills. I have had each of my 6 kids enrolled off and on over the last 15 months through the school year and summer offerings. My oldest kids had a variety of instructors during the evening offerings for after school and my youngest kids have thrived with Henry as their weekday morning instructor from beginning classes through the intermediate levels as well. The admin staff is super helpful and a great resource for questions. Shout out to Brooklynn! Yes, registration can be a huge pain but I think that's to be expected for any high demand organization (which this is). The servers can only handle so much and should not be a reflection of all that West Coast has to offer. I am so pleased that West Coast offers such excellence in their program that encompasses both safety (which is a huge priority for me), but also the benefits of swimming as a lifestyle and a quality form of healthy exercise for one's entire life. They are always looking for new ways to enhance and better their program as it grows. Truly worth every single penny. read more

Staffs are rude and horrible, I wouldn't recommend this place. stay away. Their registration process is stressful, and no refund. I think people go there and register because it is cheaper. nothing else. The lady I got gave me hard time because she thought I registered my son for the wrong class. I paid for God sake, it is not free. they are absolutely rude. Based on these reviews, my kids would have missed out on a great learning environment if I had decided not to try out West Coast Aquatics. The staff was AMAZING with my kids. My son is a bit rambunctious, and they provided him with a great learning environment and all the kids in his class. I will feel more confident about having my kids at our cabin this summer! To address the water temperature, yes, it feels cold when you first get in, but all pools in the area do as well. This location has excellent air quality (which cannot be said for all pools), but that may be part of the cold feeling others described. Once the kids were in the pool, they quickly got past that. It was the staff that made this location stand out! The staff in the front office were extremely patient with me and all my questions, and the instructors were knowledgeable. I only wished my kids wanted to try out for the swim team. We always saw the team swimming, and the coaches appeared invested in their swimmers. I can't say the same thing for the sports my kids decided to play. read more

I do not recommend this place at all. I have two kids and every time we go there, they are not happy because it is too cold. All instructors around the pool wearying sweater or jacket and they expect these little kids enjoy the cold condition at the pool. My son doesn't want to go there anymore and I just wasted my money. As the parent of a West Coast swim instructor and also parent of a West Coast competitive swimmer, I could hardly disagree more with the nasty review left by Parmis S. Cold water? Well, it's 82 degrees, pretty much standard around here. A kid who doesn't learn? Hmm, is it possible there's an issue with the kid? My daughter teaches tons of four year olds; most make huge progress, a few proceed slowly. I do know that there's been a HUGE increase in swimming lessons at West. They turn away new enrollments, and getting onto the competitive teams is not easy at all. So ... I'd assume these folks are doing something right. As to West from a competitive point of view, you'd have to call it the little team that could. Meet after meet, West outperforms larger outfits. Some swimmers even perform at a national level. The reception staff was nice, but the lifeguard on duty was horrible and rude. He had an attitude that he was better than anyone else. He had a visitor that he was paying more attention to than the other swimmers in the pool. I felt like I had to pay more attention to the children in the water because he had no clue about what was actually happening. Do not go here! I felt like my child wasn't safe swimming. read more

I completely agree with the bad reviews. The staff are rude. My daughter started her first swim lessons and she was scared to start off , they don't let parents near by to comfort kids nor do they motivate the kids. The reception staff mentioned if the child cries they will just leave it and will not help the child get used to the lessons and will not do make up classes either. This way kids will who are scared will never learn nor get comfortable and have to repeat the level again and again. The water is very cold and kids are shivering . I wouldn't recommend it as it's definitely not challenging, they don't let him swim on his own but in his report card , they mention that he couldn't pass coz he didn't swim independently. My son has repeated requested them to let him swim on his own , they dont care . They want the kids to be in the same class over and over again . I have brought it to the manager on a different sensitive issue I faced ( which I don't want to write about) the manager responded well but eventually except Tim I don't find any instructor who is good . West Coast Aquatics in Mill Creek will only take your money and do nothing for your child to learn to swim. We have been going there for 6 months. It is $95/month. My kid is still on Beginner's level. He is a regular boy. Not very athletic but with no physical or mental limitations. 6 months should have been more than enough for anybody to learn how to swim. Instructors change every time and it it mostly young girls learning how to teach kids to swim. On July 1st there was a swim meet scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM. The club did no cancel the regular lesson at 12:30PM (they should collect the money of course). The place was a ZOO! There was no space to stand on one foot. The kids did not have much of a lesson and it ended like 5 min early because the coaches had to prepare for the meet. 5 min out of 30 min lesson is a lot. They should have canceled the classes but they did not. My complaint was answered promptly the next business day and they offered a refund for the remaining part of July. They also offered two free swim passes to all families that had that damn class at 12:30PM on that day. I guess we were not the only ones complaining. It was also good to know they blamed the lack of progress entirely on my child. That really makes me want to go back there and sign up for more classes, right? (I am being sarcastic). If this is the environment you want for your child you are welcome to try. I enjoy not smelling like chlorine and this is the only pool in the area I don't smell that way after I swim. Water temp is great. Instructors are top notch and helped me succeed in my 1st Ironman. Lap swims are not overcrowded. Staff are always polite, helpful, and have been quick to respond to my email questions. read more

My family and I were members at West Coast Aquatics for the summer of 2018. Although having difficulties with the upper management we still enjoyed the pool. But because of the busy school year my family decided to cancel our membership and swim only as a drop in paying $5 a person for a session. My family and I used the pool using the cash drop box honor system. After a month of using this method about 5 times total the pool upper management declined to honor our deposits and now claim that we never paid and that we owe them money for each session and are not allowed to continue to use the pool for recreation. This is very frustrating sense I personally paid the pool with lifeguards who witnessed me pay for services. I highly suggest avoiding this establishment because of the unfair business tactics against customers. read more

I am so impressed by the Beginning 1 swim class at West Coast Aquatics! My 5 year old was finally comfortable enough to try a swim class without a parent but adamantly refusing to put her face in the water when we brought her to West Coast. I could not have asked for a better environment or instructor for her. Class size is small for the younger kids, our class has 3 children. There is ample time for each child to get through all the exercises with still enough time to focus on kids that may need more attention in one skill. There are many lessons going on at the same time which can seem chaotic but ultimately I think it was great for the younger kids to see what the next levels were doing and to get used to splashing. In the first lesson, the instructor had my daughter blowing bubbles with her mouth underwater, jumping off the side of the pool like it was nothing and already requesting that we sign her up for October session. In the second lesson, the instructor had her up to her nose underwater and she floated on her back unassisted for 5 seconds. This morning, my no-face-in-the-water child told me she's ready to try putting her whole face underwater. The instructor never forced my daughter to do anything she wasn't comfortable with and was always asked if she wanted to or was ready to try new things. When "How many days until my next swim class?" became the most popular question of the week, I knew we found the perfect place for us! read more
