WATCH OUT, they are very dishonest and unprofessional. Also very POOR workmanship. They gave me a quote for about $200 to replace my AC capacitor. But then they installed a wrong size capacitor and charged me $600 for the repair. The capacitor failed in about a month and I had to hire someone else to do the repair again. Don't believe anything they tell you. They are not trustworthy. They just want to charge you as much as possible with their scare tactics and suggesting unnecessary repairs. ZERO STARS - HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! After I was told they would be at our place at 12 , I took time off from my job to be there at meet the guy and he didn't even show up. Tried to each him, no answer. So wasted my vacation time I needed to take off work waiting for a repair man that never came. Then, when I called questioning what had happened not only did he not apologize but he threw excuse after excuse about not showing up on time. I understand when it's summer and it's busy but the least you could do is apologize for wasting a customer's time instead of making up excuses and at least answer their call or let them know you are running late! Not only was he completely non-apologetic, rude, and acted like he didn't need our business but he hung up on me mid sentence. When I told him I would be reporting him to BBB & leaving reviews on their lack of customer service/poor business practices, he has the audacity to CALL HIS CUSTOMER AN IDIOT. PROFESSIONALISM: 5 ATTITUDE: 5 ETHICS: 5 PRICE: 5 I was shocked when I read a couple of the reviews, as my experience was very positive throughout. Robert Gonzales was able to answer my initial call, which was somewhat of an emergency. I had recently moved and the heat stopped working. A competitor came by first, which was no help at all, (a story in itself), so I phoned WCA. I was concerned and flustered and Robert was patient and understanding during our conversation. He made time for an appointment the following morning and upon diagnosis, he realized a part within the furnace had become dislodged. It was up and running almost immediately! He was professional, polite and appeared very versed in his field. He kindly gave me a break on his house-call fee and left me with a quote for a central system, (which was half the cost of the other guy). I was very impressed. Family stepped up to help me and I was able to sign a contract with WCA for a new heating and air unit. Robert arrived at dawn, finished at sundown and worked consistently with 2 guys. Again, very polite and professional. He went through each step with me, to insure my approval and cleaned up following every phase. They were rather non-intrusive for being in the home all day. It's been 3 days and everything has been working flawlessly. Also, I did get a call from Mr. Gonzales, just checking-in. Bobby knows what he's talking about. He gives you options on what to do and is priced far below the big shops. I had to have my condensing unit changed out and Bobby did an amazing job. It's funny because there are people on here reviewing him that he didn't even do work for. "He didn't show up when he said he would". Oh I wonder how many service companies in the peak of their season can't be exactly on time when the previous customer had a new install and they have to finish that. All I can say is ask the man if your concerned about one of these bogus reviews. He's a small shop owner operator and he will save you money and he has been in business for almost 10 years. ZERO STARS!! Absolutely the worst customer service possible. I am 8 months pregnant and they installed a brand new Goodman package unit on my roof 2 years ago. I have had continual problems with it and 1 months ago he finally came out and installed the reverse valve upside down. When the manufacturer representative came out who told them it was upside down and West Coast Air Service man Robert Gonzalez did not care at all that he had made a mistake and flipped it to make it correct. I'm still having trouble with my two-year-old Goodman and now he has flaked on me 3 times when he was supposed to come out and service my system because again it is not working. I will never and no one should ever use this company they're horrible and do not care about the customer. Again I am 8 months pregnant with a two year old also and I should be first priority in this 100 + degree weather, he has not offered me any solutions and basically told me I'm on my own. This company needs to go out of business because they take advantage of people and I'm still sitting here with it being 103 degrees out today sweating in my house 8 months pregnant and my two-year-old daughter is uncomfortable as well. You would think when you purchased a system that is 2 years old they would do everything to make it right but this company is absolutely the worst. read more

Hi all. I worked with these guys to diagnose an issue with my geriatric AC unit (~30 years old). While he was able to find an issue with the AC he wasn't able to find the issue that was causing my problems (he was willing to brainstorm some possible issues though). He recommended that I replace the unit due to its age (sound advice that I can't afford to follow right now) and only charged me 1/2 for the visit (he was willing to give a full refund but I didn't think that was appropriate). I'm going to keep searching for the root cause of the issue but appreciate the effort put in. read more

I truly don't understand how this guy does any business. I guess with the triple digit heat, he can manage to stay busy and take advantage of people, but he won't be getting my business. I found out on Friday that the air wasn't working. Called West Coast Air and spoke with Robert who came out and diagnosed the problem as a failed compressor monitor. He then tells me on the spot (having called no one) that it's a part that isn't available anywhere in town (how does he know already?), that he will have to order it from LA (again, not sure how he knew) and that it will be $350 for the part (he's clairvoyant. I suppose he knew all along that the part cost what it did and that it would come from LA. Fine, ok, I gave him the benefit of the doubt). He calls me back later that day to confirm that I truly want the part, I tell him yes, I will pay for it, and to place the order because we need the air fixed asap. He places the order, and advises me that the part (a compressor monitor) is expected to arrive from Southern California (or Vegas - he's not sure) on Monday or Tuesday, and that he would install it as soon as it arrived. Meanwhile, not knowing what a compressor monitor was, or what it cost, I did a little due diligence over the weekend and tried to get some information on it, as any informed consumer would. I Googled "compressor monitor" and couldn't find anything. So I contacted no less than five other mechanical HVAC contractors, none of whom had ever heard of a compressor monitor. A little worried, but not overly concerned, except that I have a guest staying in the home without air conditioning and one guest had already left because of the lack of air. So, time was sort of the essence. Monday rolls around, the part hasn't arrived. Tuesday morning I contact Robert to see when the part is expected to arrive, and he advises me that he hopes it will arrive later on Tuesday at around 3-4pm, but then informs me that even if it does arrive on Tuesday, he WILL NOT be able to come out to install it because he has other customers to attend to given the extreme heatwave. Wow, really? Honestly, I was a little shocked that suddenly I'm relegated to the lowest priority, despite the fact that I was initially seen on Friday. So, the part would be sitting with Robert and he won't come by to install it? Alrighty then. Although I was a little irked that he wouldn't make time to install the part and finish the job, I nevertheless continued to wait all day Tuesday for the part to arrive. By 430pm on Friday, I still had not heard a word from Robert, so I texted him to find out the status. He called me back and told me that the part had arrived and that he has it (HELLO?!?the part arrived and no one thought to call, text or otherwise inform me that it had arrived and to advise when it would be installed?!? Seriously??) To top things off, when i asked him for details about the part (price and invoice for my tax deduction), he refused to tell me what the part cost and proceeded to tell me how upset he was because I had "shopped around" and called other businesses, and that it was pointless to do so because he's the only business in town with that part. I told him not to take offense to my research; that I merely did a little homework as an informed consumer. I'm not entirely sure why he would be so concerned that I was just trying to inform myself. I had repeatedly assured him I would pay him for the part and his labor. I just wanted a breakdown of the parts cost, and the labor cost. Not too unreasonable to ask, right? I mean, that's how every contract I've ever been involved with works. Anyway, he begins to get noticeably agitated, so I say, "let's just move past this and get the part installed. When can you come install the part?" To which he responds, "I don't know." I was shocked. "You're telling me you've got the part in and you can't or won't give me a day and time when you're going to install it??" His reply again was that he was butt hurt that I had shopped around, and that I had asked for the invoice on the part. So, he chose to hold out on installation purely out of spite. And he knew that because it is triple digit heat, and that I had a guest who was waiting for AC, he could leverage the situation. Seriously though, you diagnose my AC unit, order the part, and then tell me I have to wait to have it installed?? Anyway, if that's how Robert wants to run his business, then so be it. I just won't be giving him my business, and I certainly will do all I can to let everyone else know about my experience and to proceed with caution. Unfortunately, the poor reviews on here are starting to outweigh the good ones. And I now see why. SMH. read more

I have a BRYANT ac unit which stopped working because of short in the compressor. I called 3 diffrent companies to get their estimate. Lastly and luckly I called West Coast Air and talked to Robert asking him to replace the whole consenser unit. He quoted price on the phone and explained what it will involve saying he can come next day with the unit and give in writing his quoted estimate before doing the work. His quote was surprizingly the lowest. I am so pleased with his candor and the way he accomplished the whole work for me. Sacramento gets very hot certain days in summer and this particular day was one of those in 103 degrees. After finishing the work, he gave a written warranty for parts and labor. I fully agree with others who have whole heartly endorsed this company and Robert in particular. read more

Don't do it! On December 18, 2015, my furnace was inoperable and in need of repair. I called Robert at West Coast Air and explained to him what the code on the control board indicated; which implied that the limit switch was malfunctioning. When Robert came to the house to inspect the problem, he conducted several diagnostic test and concluded that my control board and pressure sensor switched needed to be replaced. He quoted me a price of $600 for the control panel and $100 labor to replace. I indicated that the price seemed a bit high and told him that I would buy the needed parts and he could replace them. I asked Robert if he would be available later in the day to install the new parts. After obtaining the parts I called and asked if he could return and install them; he said he had too many service calls that day and would not be able to repair until the following day, December 19, 2015. On December 19, I called him approximately 10 times to no avail. Due to urgency to get the problem fixed I called another heating and air company. The new company came and installed the new control board and pressure switch. After installation the code on the control board still indicated a problem with the limit switch. The technician overrode the limit switch and the furnace became operable. In talking to the technician, he indicated that the original control switch probably was not broken and he re-installed the original control board and new limit switch and the unit continued to function properly. On December 23, 2015 and after numerous attempts to contact Robert at West Coast Air, I went to his place of business and explained that he had misdiagnosed the problem and informed that the original control panel was correct in reflecting a malfunctioning limit switch. He readily returned the diagnostic fee but could tell I was dissatisfied when I offered the part to him at my at cost price; since he is in the business and be more apt to have a real need for the control panel before I would ever have a need for it. He said that he did not feel obligated to reimburse me for the cost of the control panel because it was not purchased by him. My reason for not purchasing through him was because he wanted to gouge me for the cost of the part; which he wanted $600 for a $180 part. An unfortunately once you buy electrical parts from any store you can not return them weather they were installed or not. I felt that Richard at West Coast Air does not possess the knowledge to adequately repair (HVAC) units, nor does he have the integrity to do the right thing and should have gladly opted to pay for his misdiagnosis and the part in lieu of the negative advertisement and the embarrassment of the legal ramifications forthcoming. West Coast Air is not reputable and will not return calls whenever you have a problem. They installed a new air conditioning unit and while making connections to the funace in the attic, they spilled blue glue down into my walk-in closet which covered my walls and carpeting with blue glue. We had to re-paint the walls which needed 2 coats to cover the glue areas. Robert, the owner, offered to replace the carpet in the walk-in area closet. The glue on the carpet actually extended out slightly into our master bedroom which meant it would not match the carpet there. Of course, he kept bringing over cheaper samples of carpet to show as replacement. Each time, the samples were thinner carpeting which was not acceptable. Finally, after close to a month of going nowhere with this, we just decided to get new carpeting in our family room and use some of the remnants which was the same as the master bedroom to re-do the walk-in closet which was done by the carpeting company. Several weeks ago, I was experiencing the air conditioning unit shutting down continuously during a hot day and I had to reset the circuit breaker a half dozen times to get the unit to run. I called Robert and received his voicemail and left numerous messages for him to call back to check the problem. I did this for almost a week and still no response or call back. The unit is less than 5 months old and I don't think he will honor the warranty and I've had to call out another technician to assist me. I hope you don't make the same mistake I did in using West Coast and receive the same shoddy service and treatment I experienced. read more
