If you need infant passport photos I can't recommend this place enough. I needed passport photos for three different countries (all with different size requirements of course) for a 3-week old infant. A tall order, I thought, until I arrived at West Camera. They were able to get us in the back to take the photo and we got a usable shot after just 10 minutes, mainly due to their ingenious lightbox setup. It was a busy Saturday afternoon, so I did have to wait a bit for the actual prints, but it was WELL worth the wait to have them done QUICKLY and CORRECTLY the first time. Also you don't pay full price for any passport photo sets after the first one, so it was a good deal to boot. Thank you West Camera!!! read more

I had my my Ilford HP5 400 film developed her a week ago and I also got jpeg scans. The photos were too crisp ( sharpened after the process) and grainy that you could get kind of grain with a 3200 iso film. And the highest resolution with Jpeg scan they can offer is 1500x1000 pixels only. You get way better results at Downtown Camera or Aden cthan this place. Update; I've recently got some colour film processed at West Camera, results are amazing. Their tiff scan was really good and cheaper than even Downtown Camera. I'm going to be back for sure. If you're walking too quickly on Queen you can miss West Camera as the service counter is buried in the back of a discount shoestore. I rolled in because the Lomography store is now closed. I only needed basic film development done -- 35mm film, one roll B&W, one roll colour. It cost me $23.73 to get the film developed. Colour film: No problems, decently done. No complaints. B&W film: I was told that they'd need to take a longer time to get my prints back to me as they didn't do as much B&W (which is fine, maybe it's not as popular even though it's a simpler and quicker process). I was pretty disappointed with my prints. The negatives were stained/spotty -- obviously not rinsed/stopped properly. This meant that there were water stains on the negatives that (surprise surprise!) appeared on my final prints. Meh, I'm not a fan, and I won't come back unless I absolutely have to. Will be taking my business a little further down the road to Toronto Image Works. read more

I came here today to get passport photos taken of my newborn. They have a really great set up for infant photos: They lie the baby on a white rectangular light and take picture from above. This was my second try at passport photos for my baby. The first set (taken elsewhere) were rejected at the passport office. I let the attendant know what had happened and he was extremely thorough and even entertained my request to take a few shots. At the end he let me change my baby in the back area and nurse him. I had my passport photo taken at West Camera, expecting a higher quality photo given that their photos are double in price compared to most photo shops. The photo was taken in their dimly lit store, with a flash, resulting in terrible photo and image quality. The photo was rejected at the passport centre because of the "face shadowing and glare spots" from the flash. Although they guarantee their photos I hesitated going back. read more

The short story: this place is dodgy and unreliable with indifferent customer service - go elsewhere. The longer story: I used the online uploading system to print some wedding photos over Christmas. The only way I can describe that upload process is "excruciating". "Straight out of 1998" might also work. When I went to pick them up, the 5X7 print was missing, which was disappointing as it was part of a present. I shrugged it off - mistakes happen. A month later, I needed to print off a few more pictures, so thought I'd try again with that 5X7. Went through the uploading process and then got an email saying that the system was down, could I email them the files? This was an inconvenience, but I did it. I even asked, do you need any clarification on the sizes? When I went to pick up the prints, there was no 5X7. I communicated my disappointment. There was no apology, and some suggestion that it was my fault. I guess there's only so much you can expect from a place that doubles as a shoe store one day, a record store the next. If you're looking for a professional experience and/ or interaction with people who care about helping you out, go somewhere else. read more

Came here for a visa photo, I needed it to be on a USB key at the end the guy (laziest one in the world) told me that the picture he uploaded in the key was not cropped, I had to do it cause "the Saturday guy" doesn't have time for it ????? 2 ppl in the shop looking at the vinyl collection and u don't have time for that Lazy .... com'on !!! Paid 16$ to get a picture that I have could take at home and cropped it on photoshop ... Service was one of the friendliest in Toronto, from what I have encountered so far, the reason I am going out of my way to review something more than food. Recently I used their uploader and sent some pictures for development. It was easier than I expected. I called to check and make sure they received my order. They told me they had and that they would be ready the next day. They were friendly both on the phone and in person. Prices were a bit high, but there was no hassle, the quality was great, and I felt like I supported a neighbourhood business. read more

I've been going to West Camera for years and I love this place ! Recently I've noticed that their prices have increased substantially. I paid 75$ just to process 52 photos and still had to pay an extra 12$ when I walked in to pick up my prints. I was under the impression that I already paid for my prints beforehand so the extra invoice was just upsetting. Back in the day it was 10-12$ to process so I would bring in 4 rolls at a time and it would only cost me 50$ MAX including taxes + prints. I'm very disappointed ... might have to find a new place. read more

I was in town on a canceled Air Canada flight and had bw film to process. I was lucky enough to find that the current day they were processing bw film for that week and I was just in time when I arrived at noon. The prints and emailed shots turned out great and not too expensive. Definitely recommend. read more

I've been a fan of West Camera for some time now dealing with them over the last couple of years after having had my passport photo taken there. I shoot on both digital and film formats and although they are as good in the digital image domain as the modern professional photo store needs to be, what also strikes me is that the film side is promoted as you can still receive timely and good processing, black and white, 135 or 120, printed or scanned. I also really like the eclectic "one stop shop" for people in the business, headshots for actors and performers, all types of printing such as tickets and business cards. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and good at their work . All in all West Camera is a pretty good discovery. read more

I decided to check out West Camera to get some digital photo printing done after having waited an hour for my photos at Loblaws across the street only to learn that their machine required service. The customer service I received at West Camera was absolutely fantastic, and my prints turned out beautifully. I was very, very pleased. Although more expensive that your standard grocery store digital photo printing option, I will plan to do all of my prints with West Camera moving forward. Totally worth the extra $$$. read more

This place was absolutely disappointing, we went here on a referral of a friend. We had 2 separate orders which were submitted online. We were missing a total of 4 photos in the first order and now have to go back to the store and find out where they went. In our second order, we had files which were identical to the first order, however in the second order about 10 photos had our heads cut off from the photo. All the photos also still had white borders on them, maybe they weren't cut close enough? Needless to say, I would never go back here. read more
