My family and I have come here anytime we need a photo for ID. This latest visit was for a visa. They knew exactly what the requirements were. They are professional and love their work and it really shows. There's a mirror with combs and spraybottle in case you want to do some last min touch ups. They give directions for hair, pose, as well as some post shoot touchups. The whole process took less than 15 minutes and the photos always turn out really nice. I've had a few people see my passport and ask where I've gotten the photo done. Their prices are great too. My dad got lazy once and went somewhere else closer and he paid more for 1 copy than we usually do for 2. We haven't gone anywhere else ever since. This time I ended up getting two digital photos, but you have the choice of digital or 2 hard copy, and you can always come back later if you decide you also want the hard copy. After many less-than-ideal, traumatizingly expensive experiences at Shoppers, I decided to get some ID pictures done at a place that specializes in ID pictures instead. The difference is night and day. The owner of the place is extremely helpful and professional. He takes a lot of care with the pictures and you can tell he has a lot of experience. I ended up getting both physical and digital photos for 35 dollars (discounted from 38 dollars). This includes an emailed digital version of the photo, and two stamped photos. He took extra care when taking them, asking if I was satisfied with the way they turned out, and even smoothing out a wrinkle on my shirt before snapping. I was in here for probably 5 minutes max. But was so pleased with the service and and the product. Came on a Sunday in the early afternoon. Although this place is small and located on the second floor, it is pretty easy to find because there is a big sign at street level identifying where it is. The moment I walked in, one other customer was getting her photo taken. I sat down and within a few seconds was asked what kind of photo I was looking to get. All I had to say was the country and purpose of photo and he knew off the top of his head the specifications. He took my photo right away, showed the picture to me on the camera screen to which I said it looked fine, and then worked some magic on the computer. A few minutes later, the other lady's photos and mine were finished. His price is 2 photos for $9, but he gave me 6 photos for $18 (four stamped with the date, and two unstamped). He was very careful with the photos once printed and even separated them into two envelopes because he didn't want me to mix up the stamped vs unstamped ones! Had a different guy this time round. Pretty sure he was on speed, lol. Talked so fast I could barely keep up, took 14 seconds to take the photo, started editing on the computer like it was a race, all the while pointing out pictures of himself with celebrities and telling random bad jokes. He ended up editing out my jaw - it just blended into my hair. He fixed that after I asked. Unfortunately both my pictures and my daughters were rejected (mine for Canadian citizenship and hers for her Australian passport). For hers the print quality wasn't high enough and the biometric scanners were picking up all the pixilation so they got rejected and for mine the Canadian govt said they were overly edited and it was showing when they scanned the images. Ended up taking my own pictures against my kitchen wall printing them at Walmart ‍ Normally these guys are great so hopefully it was just an off day. read more

Great experience having my passport photo taken here. My Finance actually discovered him a couple years back. Small shop and in quite a ghetto building but worth the 6$! Super cheap and he even develops an extra copy as your own keep sake. Super quick, can get your photo within 15 minutes and never a line (especially if you go on odd times during the weekday). I'm not sure if he is cash only but everytime we go we only pay in cash. Next time you go, make sure you ask about his weight loss. quite an amazing story! As a test, I went to three passport photo places to see which would score me the best shot. I've never had a nice passport photo, and I'm super picky as a photographer myself. So I went to Shoppers ($12.99 for 2 photos), another place further south of St. Andrew on Spadina ($7.99 for 2) and this place ($6.99 for 3 photos). The first two were horrible. The Shoppers' one was the WORST of all of them, and most expensive. The guy at this place was super friendly, took the time to edit out blemishes and uneven skin tone, and had really good lighting gear compared to Shoppers (built in flash) and the other guy in Chinatown (cheap tin reflectors). Took about 5 min for the whole process. And he gives you an extra photo, which your boyfriend can steal for his wallet, like it's 1959! Highly recommend this place. The photographer (who I assume is John) was very nice and allowed me to pick from 4 photos he took of me. He then got rid of any blemishes, evened out my skin tone and even increased the colour of my lips a little through photoshop. He was very kind and wanted to make sure I was happy with my photo. I went in to do a Canadian passport, though several people came in to do different international passport as and as I eavesdropped he knew the specific photo requirements for those countries as well. The middle aged man who assisted me was Chinese (as we are in Chinatown) so he's able to assist in both Chinese and English as he speaks both very well. Looks like the prices went up at bit, but I paid $9 (tax included) for 2 photos and a bonus one thrown in. He has the official stamp with the address and message to certify the passport photos. Until the last time I had to renew my passport (5 years ago), I went to a place on Queen that had a really great Saturday discount. All good things must come to an end so I needed to find a new place. My sister got her passport photos done here so I decided to give this place a try. It's on the second floor of a building - if you turn right, you'll end up in a massage parlour so go to your left. This place is cheap and fast. There were 3 other customers, but I managed to be in and out within ten minutes. The quality of the photos are fine - it's not a photo to add to my modelling portfolio so I don't really care about the touch ups that have been mentioned in other reviews. The price, on the other hand, is excellent. $8 for three photos ; we have a bargain. Come here for passport photos as it's quite reasonable compared to other businesses that provide the same service.
