Had a so called "classic beef burrito"…read more Ingredients are far away from good or special. Cheap lettuce and rice is filling their classic beef. Beef means ground meat. No options, just bad quality. Gin & Tonic was as unloving as the burrito. Three years later: Food quality is a lot better. I still miss a real guacamole taste and radish in my beef burrito. But: 3 extra stars.

Basically, the idea is semi-similar to a Chipolte except that Buro Buro has a set few burrito choices and some other select menu items. My wife had the Classic and I had the daily special, the Don Jullo. The flavor of our food was very good, if a bit cool (temperature, not spice level). Service was good, attentive and very friendly. We ordered margaritas but they had just run out of lime juice so they made some fresh. Unfortunately, we were done eating before they came. The whole time our server and the staff kept apologizing for the problem. I ordered a second margarita and the manager mentioned it it would be much quicker than the first time. So, at least they're trying quite hard to please their customers. Something I quite respect. Is it 'real' Mexican food? No, not really. It's definitely much more Tex-Mex but it's Germany. One thing I was quite impressed with is that they use a lot of Cilanto/Koriander. It's something that's required for good Mexican food but most German based Mexican restaurants don't like to use it because Germans, on the whole, really dislike the herb. Curiously, they even garnish their margaritas with it. The place is very new, I don't know exactly how new but it still has the 'new' look and smell. They also do quite a breakfast menu which runs until 18:00. We didn't get into that at all but it looked interesting. Anyway, if I'm ever up in the area again, I'll definitely consider eating there. It'll be interesting to see if Buro Buro expands into other locations as time goes on. One interesting thing was that it was pretty chilly at dinner time last night but their large outside seating area was almost entirely full. It bodes well for their future.

While my initial contact with the waiter made me a bit nervous--he had clearly never heard of celiac--he did allow me to write down the German word for celiac on his notepad to show to the chef. The chef came out and reassured me that they were used to cooking for people with celiac, and that the dish I had ordered was indeed gluten free (all gluten free dishes are marked with "gf" on the menu, too). This was a nice gesture, as eating out as a celiac always involves a fair amount of worry. I ordered the gnocchi with cherry tomatoes, rucola, and parma ham. While I thought you could definitely tell the gnocchi themselves were gluten free--had a bit of a grainy feel/taste to them--the rest of the dish was so excellent and flavorful it more than made up for it. The service was also nice and friendly in other ways--since it was rather chilly, and we were sitting outside, a man (who I later recognize as Eugen himself from the website) brought us a couple of blankets and made sure we were comfortable. It's just a shame they don't open til the 1pm on Sundays--otherwise we would have been back the next day (I was already planning my lunch of a bunless burger with roasted potatoes!). Instead, it will have to wait for our next trip to the Bodensee!

Holy cow! This place indulges one's desire to eat like a cow, assuming cows eat until they feel ill…read moreas we did. We availed ourselves of the Sunday brunch buffet at Wohnzimmer one lazy afternoon & we weren't disappointed. During our stay we experienced a constantly replenished buffet of piping-hot croissants & rolls, a wide variety of cold cuts and cheeses & spreads, There was a pot of Weißwurst (with proper sweet mustard), eggs cooked to order & bacon. There were also pancakes, American style. In another part of the high-ceilinged dining hall, there was a table set up with appetizer-like treats such as stuffed & breaded mushrooms, crudites, and mini sandwiches. On yet another table was a spread replete with yogurt, muesli, a variety of cereals, and fresh fruit. The whole affair made me feel like Daffy Duck when he found the treasure cave somewhere at Pismo Beach, if you know what I mean. Wohnzimmer, set up like a hip living room in a large warehouse space, is very inviting. There are small vases of fresh flowers on every table as well as lit candles. It's all very hygge, German style. A complimentary, small carafe of OJ is included in the fairly steep buffet price of approx. 25 euro per person. Coffee drinks, which often take a long while to get to the table, are separate. Wohnzimmer is tucked away just behind the main drag. Look for the English-language church (yes, really), then make your way 'round to the parking area. Wohnzimmer doesn't have a sign, so just follow the line of people. **best to book a table on weekends as they are busy **students receive a discount at 17 euro per person
